Trojan horse/Virus on comp! Please, Help.

Don't know how it got on it. It's from my account, but my bro does have access to my account on the comp.

I can't remember the name...but I know it's a trojan horse and it suppose to be a low-threat and is easy to remove. Windows Malicous Removal Tool (Aug 2007 Update) only can partially remove it.

What should I do? Look for more anti-virus software to dl?

It's called JS/Joke-Shake. It's seems to be from freewebs and is suppose to be spyware, but comes up detected as a virus. Not too worried now, but ain't going to freewebs again. Going to pick up Norton later today.

Been using McAfee btw.

Go download Ad-Aware and Avast Antivirus. These should remove them no problem, but it not do a google search on the trojans name and there should be plenty of sites that will explain how to get rid of it.

i recommend spybot search and destroy.
then go to your RUN box and type msconfig and go to startup and look to see if any programs look suspicious.

Update!

Ok, the virus is different now. Now it's called Win32/Zlob.gen!J

Guess I somehow got rid of the other one and got this one.

Windows Malcious Removal Aug 2007 update could only partly get rid of it. Bitdefender and F-Secure have no free software downloads that will take care of the problem.

Infection, Damage, and Transmission rating are low, and the recover is easy. Yet, this is still a pain to get rid of. Help.

I may have taken care of the problem. Won't know for sure until tomorrow morning when I do another scan. If it's there still, I'll try this scan after work tomorrow.

Black_Dust -- Downloaded it and had to buy it...as the free version detects stuff, yet won't remove it. Doing the scan again after buying it online...hopefully ti works.

Avast Antivirus doesn't do crap. Unless I'm getting it confused with something else.

(Seeing how a Trojan can easily be a live connection with a hacker) You have two options but seeing as how you don't remember when you got it you're gonna have to go with option two. Buy an antivirus, open it in a way that you can reseal it. Install it and return it.

The problem has been taken care of, I think. Got Spyhunter earlier today..took care of everything unless it's bs.

I did have Ad-aware 2007...but it isn't needed, so I removed it.

Norton does jack. Spybot finds more spyware than Norton, at least in my case. Even Windows Malcious finds more stuff than Norton.

and now...Spyhunter is gone? Shortcut is gone, but it still is on the comp.

Another thing you could do if you have a virus is find the name it's file name (it should have one once it's downloaded itself onto your computer) and look for it through Windows explorer. Type in the virus's name and click "search". It may take a while, but if your computer can locate it, you may be able to delete it manually.

Also, if the virus returns, check if any new programs have recently been downloaded. Even a program like Limewire or Kazaa can conitinually give you viruses. It's best to simply remove them from your computer if they're giving you problems.
