Glad to see word of mouth kicking in for Tropic Thunder. $100 million+ is pretty much assured at this point.

How much would this film have to make to show a profit? The budget is around $92 Million I read. What amount has to go out to Theaters and such?

I'm hoping this film keeps it up as I really enjoyed it....

Double production is generally a good sign that the movie was a hit. Anything over production in the US is profit and then you add in global sales and they make a good heap of cash.

When is this getting released overseas?

Saw the movie yesterday. The cast was fantastic, all around a very good movie. Though it somewhat bothered me how uneven the comedy was. The beginning was absolutely hilarious and then it just.. sort of died down. There were funny scenes, but nothing completely "laugh out loud".

Saw it yesterday and I enjoyed it, it wasn't the non-stop joke-fest that I thought it'd be, but was still very good. Personal highlights were Lazarus's method acting intimidating Speedman at the start and Grossman's response to the $50m ransom that is demanded of him.

His face after he sits down is priceless. I also love after the first time he talks to the Flaming Dragons....he curses them off with "and oh yeah, go **** Yourself".:woot: Then he walks to his assistant and says something like "find out who that was"

"Take a step back and then literally.... **** YOUR OWN FACE!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Hahaha that would have made me spit soda, if I had been drinking soda

"You want me to let my client, my best friend of 15 years die for a G5 airplane?"

"Yes...a G5 Airplane and LOTS of money"

Haha, gold! Cruise was great, too bad they couldn't keep his role a surprise, damn paps.:cmad:

The thing is that the general mindset was that movies that lampoon Hollywood generally don't do all that great. I mean this kind of changes that. The opening wasn't huge, but the word of mouth is definitely there.

I see it maybe getting to $115-120 million US and plus overseas and DVD it will do fine. Definitely won't be an embarrassment or a flop.

Great avatar by the way. Gay Iron Man and Spidey together at last.

Dark Donnie, yes! Your avatar makes my life. The Satan's Alley trailer was definitely my favorite of the fake trailers -- it's just suuuch hilarious casting. I love the Iron Man/Spidey aspect... and kudos to Tobey for being such a tiny role/cameo!

God, I love Grossman. I'm sorry, but his dancing cracks me up every single time. Even if RDJ wasn't enough to get me to the theater repeatedly, Cruise's performance would. Good god that **** is funny. :woot:

I would pay to see Satan's Alley get made. And at least two Scorchers.

Tom Cruise is getting too much hype for this, but the rest was great.

RDJ

The movie could quite possibly be #1 again with labor day, but that might be a stretch. Labor Day will easily give it another boost.

I hope Tom Cruise has created a slippery slope here.

I'd like to see more action drama actors occasionally slipping in to do all-out comedy every now and again.
