'True Lies' TV Reboot From James Cameron Set at Fox

Two decades after its debut in theaters, True Lies is headed for the small screen.

Fox has handed out a sizable put-pilot commitment to a reboot of James Cameron's 1994 Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis action drama.

Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim will pen the script for the potential drama, which is said to be a modern version of the story about how a suburban couple adjusts when one of them is revealed to be a spy.

Cameron — who wrote, directed and produced the feature film — is attached as an exec producer. The drama hails from 20th Century Fox Television, whose feature arm produced the feature. McG will exec produce and, should the script move forward, direct the pilot. McG's Wonderland Sound and Vision president Mary Viola and frequent Cameron collaborator Rae Sanchini of his Lightstorm Entertainment banner will also exec produce, with the latter having been credited in the same capacity on the movie.

....Yeah, I got nothing, just wanted to post a True Lies gif! :D

It could be good but my hopes are not high with the track record movie to television series have.

so will it be a slow burn to the wife finding out, or will it be revealed in the first couple of episodes?

Matt Nix? perhaps he can bring in Jeffrey Donovan.

'Shameless' Alum Steve Howey to Star in 'True Lies' Pilot at CBS - Variety

Howey will star as Harry, the role played in the film by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The character is described as a benign, play-it-safe, seemingly risk-averse computer salesman and devoted family man, married with two kids. But in reality, Harry is an undercover operative, a first-class spy working for a covert U.S. Intelligence organization.

Like the film, Harry’s unfulfilled suburban wife is propelled into a life of danger and adventure when she’s recruited to work alongside him to save the world as they try to revitalize their passionless marriage. The wife role, which was played by Jamie Lee Curtis in the film, has yet to be cast.

This is so very, very bland.

That's the word, it looks like the typical CBS pilot where they throw in some extra budget for a couple of action sequences and then slide into the basic formula from there.

At best I see 1 or 2 seasons.

It's CBS, so if there's any traction whatsoever they will get at least 8 seasons. CBS tends to go way too long with their shows, like Hawaii 5-0 and now Blue Bloods.

Yeah, as a cheap easy Friday movie on Netflix... fine... a series to watch... nah

I’m not the biggest Cameron fan but if the Terminator and Alien franchises have taught us, he’s not an easy act to follow and perhaps people should just stop.

It's a co-production and a midseason replacement so that's two strikes against it already for remaining on CBS long-term.

I couldn’t even finish watching that trailer. Looks so cheap and bland
