"How would you know that?" asked Sonya, "The way the door to his quarters opened up for you of all people, it was not mechanical". Johnny examined the door to see how it works, it does not open automatically again, and there is no grip to handle, he turned around with a cringe expression "That man might end up being terrifying", Sonya responded with "He's a creepy old man, I felt like caving his face in", Bi Han nodded in disagreement "It won't be easy" and walked away.
"At least he didn't give us the cold shoulder" Johnny said, Sonya said "UGH" and walked in the other direction.

As he continues with his high and mighty attitude, Sektor walks toward Johnny Cage, looks at him, and intentionally bumps him by shoulder, Johnny stares at the idiot and turns his head to face forward again, Sektor walks towards Johnny bumping into him again, Sektor continues the process enough times for Johnny to lose his patience and roundhouse kick the bully in his face, dislocating his jaw. Cyrax holds his laugh long enough to get his companion away from causing more havoc, telling the two to quit their conflict, and thinking to himself "The cyber initiative might end up being an improvement to the condition of this idiot".

The ship arrives to the shore of the island, Sub-Zero is so happy to see the reckless fool assigned to keep him in check silent, the mask covers his expression of pleasure, and that satisfies him even further.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 14​

During the time of the voyage his brother was in, Tundra, Smoke, and Hydro were doing profile checking to see who will join them in rebellion against the madness of the grand master's wishes to make cyborgs out of them, the number of stronger warriors with stronger allegiance to the Lin Kuei than their own humanity is overwhelming, and makes the challenge they face to rebel harder. This hindrance doomed their plans to failure.

On the island of Shang Tsung, every member found their dorms before the start of the tournament, they were warned to not wander the island after the time of matches ended. It was night, and time for warriors to rest their bodies, Bi Han was concerned for the safety of his brother and their friends, he knew his sabotage did not go unnoticed, and feared that his younger brother might face the wrath of the greedy grandmaster. Worrying kept him from resting his body for hours.

They woke up early, warriors are accustomed to restricted sleep time, and they gathered in an arena as instructed.
The host and owner of the island listed the rules of kombat, and stated that before the battle began, they are to hunt for their own meals.
Bi Han felt a twitch in his stomach it was not caused by hunger, he looked a little to his left to see something he did not expect to see, nor did he want it to be there; Quan Chi, and the warrior he hired for the same task Sub-Zero was hired to accomplish, Scorpion.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 15​

Scorpion looked angrily at the man he believed has killed his wife, his young son, and the rest of his clan, he was ready to jump on to exact his revenge, but Quan Chi tethered him down "Your time of vengeance will come soon, Scorpion, wait for it, don't jump him now".
Still suffering from the effect of the kick, Sektor is unable to utter his words looking at the expression of the terrified Sub-Zero, his thoughts were "He needn't be scared of such a chump"
Sharing some of the dread, Cyrax is not surprised that his friend is cold on his feet, but he tried to push himself and Bi Han away from the arena.

Liu Kang felt the terror in the Lin Kuei warrior, they both stood close to each other on the same row, the shivering is not hard to miss. Raiden spoke to Liu Kang of the courage of this warrior before, of his skills and prowess, and why should they ever meet in battle, Liu should stand on his toes, the terror that filled the heart of Sub-Zero that day kept the Shaolin warrior ready on his toes for trouble, and on guard in case he was faced by some unwelcome competition.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 16​

As they were hunting for breakfast, Cyrax recalled the time he and Sub-Zero held Scorpion to take back the medallion of Shinnok "Why are you this afraid of him? We held him at bay last time we encountered Scorpion." Cyrax asked. "His white eyes, his stare with such white angry eyes, directed my way, with the fury of vengeance I've never met before, and he's empowered by a sorcerer who is undoubtedly very powerful" Sub-Zero replied "It was the help of Raiden that we had a portal ready for us to exit immediately after catching him by surprise, without it we might have faced greater difficulty".
There was nothing but a nod of agreement to express that he understands.

They climbed trees to try their fruits, they found exotic fruits unlike anything they ever tried, seen, or read of, some fruits bear resemblance to familiar fruits in outlook, and taste like a mix of two or three fruits unlike the outlook.
Sektor is pain after his chiropractic to relocate his jaw, it made it uneasy for him to chew, he swore vengeance against Johnny Cage.
All the other participants made similar choices for finding their meals, and went to gather in the arena two hours later.

In came Shang Tsung, he came with the tournament battle plan, each kombatant fighting for the sake of Earth faces a kombatant fighting for Outworld, the warriors of the Lin Kuei were decided to fight for the sake of Outworld, the three warriors of the klan were shocked at this revelation, it made Sub-Zero hate being part of the klan even more, Sektor pretended to not be annoyed just to tease his komrades, and Cyrax asked Sektor if he knew about it, Sektor remained with a silent smirk on his face.
Scorpion was bothered that he is in league with the assassin he believes killed his family, it takes away his right for his unruly vengeance for the duration of the tournament.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 17​

In the audience, Sonya, Johnny, Liu, and other fighters for Earth realm were in awe of this decision, it did not bring hope for them. Raiden witnessed that, and voiced his objection over this decision, Shang replied in a calm fashion "Oh, the decision was made, and it is a done deal. That is how the rules work".

Time for the first fight is now, "LET MORTAL KOMBAT BEGIN" Shang Tsung announced, "First match, Johnny Cage vs Baraka". Baraka came on stage and extended his blades, Johnny is ready to accept that he is not facing an actor with makeup and prosthetic parts attached on him, and takes his shades off as he goes on stage. "FIGHT", the battle begins as the tournament master announced, Baraka is fast in extending his blades to stab his opponent, Johnny Cage is faster in dodging to trip his Tarkatan foe, and as the showboat that he is, he waits for his rival to get up and face him to continue the fight, Baraka launches, and that is when Johnny grabs him from the arms real hard, and kicks him in the chest so fast that he dislocates both shoulders of the blade fighter.

In pain, annoyed that he cannot fix back either shoulder with ease, Baraka chooses to twist his body fast enough to swing his arms, it made him a more dangerous fighter for a while, Johnny dodged until he found the right moment to jump over, grab his Tarkatan foe from the arms again, and swing a kick so hard behind the knee area of both legs, and Baraka falls hard on his knees, not unconscious, but his inability to stand, coupled with the effects of his shoulder injury, made him unable to continue the fight.

"FINISH HIM" Shang Tsung stood up and shouted, "WHAT?" asked Johnny Cage, "I SAID FINISH HIM". Johnny heard that, looked in the way of other contestants, Bi Han turned his head in negative response, he didn't want the winner to experience the feel of killing, the memory of the kill is not an easy one to live with, especially the first time.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 18​

"I'm not going to end his life" said Johnny. "You are as much a fool as Kung Lao was 500 years ago, your demise may be equally satisfactory" Shang Tsung thought to himself in mild satisfaction, after announcing the victory of Johnny Cage.
The fallen leader of Tarkatans is picked up and removed from stage to make way for the next fighters, Raiden congratulates Johnny for his victory "Your victory set their invasion back one step". Johnny stared at Raiden and asked "Why isn't the army doing something about this invasion? Are they aware of the threat?"
"You should talk in a more respectful manner. He's the protector of this realm" Liu Kang said as he looked at Johnny Cage.
Johnny: "C'mon man, I didn't say it in a rude manner, it's spontaneous inquiry"
Liu: "You need to be more careful, spontaneous words can be dangerous"
Johnny: "I hope this is not a threat"
Raiden: "It's not one. We have an army of monks ready to fight back the invasion."
Johnny: "It needs to be a bigger, more organized, worldwide military response, another world invading ours won't be easily stopped by monks, invaders always bring in their soldiers to enforce control"
Sub-Zero comes in to say "He is right. With our clan members included in the ranks of Outworld fighters for this tournament, do expect worse things to come if they win this generation's tournament."

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 19​

Johnny: "Thank you."
Liu Kang: "Couldn't you choose to fight for Earth realm?" talks to Sub-Zero.
Bi Han: "At this point, I'm afraid it's not possible."
Raiden is in a bit of comfort the attention went away from him, he had no mean of answering that question, so he zapped out.
"And now, for the next match" Shang Tsung announced, and everyone was ready to witness.

Second match is in, Liu Kang vs Reptile. The crawling alien from another dimension is fast and sneaky, but the Shaolin warrior was prepared for such tricks and had no issue overpowering his opponent and flawlessly knocking him into unconsciousness, that's what you get for facing the most skilled pupil of a Millinea aged Outworld martial arts master.
If anyone from Earth knew that much about the master, they'd start asking questions about when this technique found its way to Earth, and why did it find its place in China?

The warriors of the temple of the old woods are taught to value life, so like Johnny Cage before him, Liu Kang refused to end the life of his foe, and chose mercy.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 20​

Shang Tsung is annoyed that another Earth warrior won a match, he holds back on his disdain and does not show it up. Reptile is removed from stage like Baraka was, Bo Raicho congratulates his pupil on his victory, Johnny shares the sentiment while holding back on surfacing his fear of the power displayed on stage moments ago, he does not think he can win against a fighter this strong, and wonders about the rest of them.

Next match is a fight between a karate expert named Art Lean, his opponent is the powered up Hanzo Hasashi. Quan Chi tells Scorpion that there is no need for him to hold back against his opponent, he can unleash his fury on him as if he faces the man that killed his family. Scorpion's blood boils at the mere mention of the name Sub-Zero, but his normal self tries to ease up the rage within him for this fight, he remembers his past of holding back against killing if it wasn't the main objective of task he was assigned to, or if the kill was unavoidable, proper meditation was at hand.

Both opponents bowed down before each other, they also bowed down before the tournament master, that made them the first opponents in a match to do so in this tournament, and the match began.
The opponent is strong, but Scorpion still managed to hold down on his strength, he held back well enough, and the opponents fought until one of them lost stamina and was unable to fight further. Scorpion's lungs were superior to his rival before what Quan Chi did to him, with the addition of powers to resist fire his stamina became even better.

FINISH HIM​

What Scorpion did was he gently picked Art and walked him off stage and helped him down. "My deed is done" said Scorpion "This is a victory for Outworld" and he walked back to the side of Quan Chi, who had something brewing in his mind.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 21​

Looking at this, Sub-Zero hoped this attitude might make it slightly easier to make peace with Scorpion, or realistically thinking, it makes Scorpion more prone to listening, albeit not forgiving. At that very moment, Scorpion thought of the nice reminder of his humanity, and was reminiscing on his past with his clan.

"Next Round" Shang Tsung announced "Sektor vs Yuri Boyka".
The rival is aggressive, acrobatic, cunning, his skill sets and strength are similar to Sektor, even his cooky attitude is similar, but he cannot release any beams nor does he hold weapons, that gave Sektor the upper hand and he used his flame thrower to incinerate his rival badly.
Fallen from the burn damage, all that Yuri feels is agony that keeps him from fighting further, he is unable to even stand, Sektor uses that to his advantage and steps hard on the head of the fallen fighter smashing his skull, not waiting for the announcement to finish his foe.

"A victory for the Lin Kuei is a victory for Outworld" Sektor announced as he looked smugly at everyone in the audience, including his angry companions. Once he's off-stage, Bi Han chose to elbow his jaw to make him feel the pain from Johnny Cage's kick anew. Sektor wants to deliver an attack against the Cryomancer, but Cyrax stops them, and reminds them to conserve their energies.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 22​

"He's supposed to be a ruthless and cunning heir to the leader, being a reckless fool brings a smile to my face." Bi Han thinks to himself "What a delight to wear a mask on my mouth, I can smile with less hints of emoting." Bi Han did not even stare the way of Sektor thinking as he does, he kept his stare focused on the arena.

"NEXT MATCH" Shang Tsung rose, tensions are higher "SUB-ZERO VS SONYA BLADE". Both fighters went on stage, impulsively, Sonya raised he gun toward Sub-Zero, his immediate response was to freeze it with ice projectile and she had no choice but to drop it to save her hands, the frozen gun fell and the trigger broke.

The match began, both proved to be strong fighters, Sonya managed to keep up with her opponent, Sub-Zero was careful where he struck her, and careful enough to ensure not using ice in his bout, he has no intention of killing any opponent, especially not ones to fight in favor of the realm he was born into, the world of his family, and as far as he knows that includes his missing father. The fight continued, it lasted for 10 minutes, Sub-Zero lost, he fell on his seating and had a hard time getting up again.

FINISH HIM​

The winner is a cop, she killed during duty before, but this is not duty, it doesn't follow protocol, she stood and stared at her opponent fallen on his back, with half of it up, his left arm is on the ground, and his right arm is covering his face in defeat. Victory was announced in favor of Sonya, she took off stage, and Sub-Zero did the same after slowly standing up.
Three victories in favor of Earth realm, it was not a satisfying result for Shang Tsung, he is an emissary of Outworld afterall, and failure would prove nothing less than deadly for him.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 23​

This is the first match that did not end with the loser needing help to stand up or to be taken off stage, Sub-Zero walks slowly toward his colleagues, and dusts himself off-stage. Sektor called him a "failure" and "a shame to the name of the Lin Kuei", that last line flies over the head of a warrior who is not fond of his clan and hardly felt like he belonged. Cyrax stared at Sub-Zero with an idea of what he was thinking.

On the side of Earthrealm warriors, Liu Kang, Bo Raicho, and Nightwolf all thought different from Sonya who was focused on winning and not much else during the match, they noticed something, while Sonya was holding her broken frozen issued gun in her gloved hands, the feeling of cold was diminished from the insulation, and she wondered how will she explain this to HQ, a thought that led to her wondering what the station will do once she returns, and how long it will take for her to return to base.

On the other side, another spectator pondered the conflicting thoughts he had after witnessing that last bout, someone as strong as the warrior he believed to have killed his wife and child, someone who managed to defeat him before without resorting to a kill, how would he lose a fight against someone like he did on stage? The performance displayed by Sub-Zero was of one intentionally dropping a fight, his act wasn't good enough to trick the now uncertain warrior the loss was due to the strength of his opponent, "Could it be that he didn't really kill my family? Is he showing remorse? Or could it possibly be an act of valor?" the positive thoughts Scorpion had ended there.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 24​

Quan Chi looked concerned, changing his sight from Sub-Zero to Scorpion, he noticed the uneasiness felt by the specter he enslaved, he had to work on a plan to change that and bring back Scorpion to the vengeful anger he did not have any reason to feel.

"And now, it is time for a break. Round 1 will continue tomorrow."
After this announcement, Shang Tsung decided to formulate a plan to change the scales in his favor, he had to do it before the beginning of round 2.

Time for each team to go their separate ways, team Lin Kuei went to the forest led by an annoyed Sektor, Bi Han is willing to kill him but it will only make him hunted by the clan leader, he is not yet ready to take down an army, and is not willing to compromise the safety of his brother or any of their friends cause the son of the clan leader is annoying.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 25​

As Shang Tsung walked, Sonya Blade followed him, she was confident that he will lead her to Kano. Witnessing the direction she took, Johnny Cage chose to follow her, Liu Kang decided to follow to keep the two out of trouble, to ensure that he is not detected if they were to be detected, he kept a good distance between himself and them, part of his training was to avoid being detected by magic, he doubts the other two went under similar training, so he didn't want to be detected if they were.

After a long walk, Sonya found Kano, he's sitting at a dining table, chewing turkey, and talking to a four armed man, they had a conversation about their roles as underground figures, Goro couldn't help but wanting to slap Kano in that duration due his sickening table manners, and wishes to himself that the man from Earth with a metal plate to his face wasn't a vital asset to Outworld. Sonya and Johnny felt the need to retreat before they were discovered, the scary presence left by the four armed Sho-kan was enough to make them want to avoid facing him in person.

This retreat satisfied Liu Kang, he thought feeling safe is better than them going reckless and the impossibility of the situation to be that requires him to save them. On the outside, Liu had to take them to a private spot and make sure they do not make it possible to be detected as ones who were spying, it could jeopardize their lives.

Johnny Cage: "Why didn't you try and stop us?"
Liu Kang: "An advice is often met with rejection, even by those with experience."
Sonya Blade (mildly ticked): "You could have at least tried."
Liu Kang: "Would you have listened?"
Johnny Cage: "Maybe."
Sonya Blade: "You wouldn't know unless you ask." *Walks away*
Johnny Cage: "Awkwardness like this can be unavoidable. How often do you deal with it?"
Liu Kang: "More than I'd like to."
Johnny Cage: "How often were you the hard headed rebellious one?"
Liu Kang (with mild snark on his face): "You have no use of such information."
Johnny Cage: "I thought this was a moment of bonding, getting better acquainted."
Liu Kang (mild laugh): "I think maybe you're living your movies, thinking they're more like real life."
Johnny Cage: "Art emulates reality."
Liu Kang: "And the best movies spares important plot points for when they are needed."
Johnny Cage: "....."
Liu Kang: "What?"
Johnny Cage: "You grew more into movie mode now." *Walks away*

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 27​

In another part of the island, the Lin Kuei trio were in the middle of a stealth training routine, a game of hide and seek, looks childish play to an outsider, but it serves to find weakness in their hiding skill. Sub-Zero was the one who had to detect his companions this turn, he was observed by a pair of eyes from a distance, the observer concealment was near perfected, no wind flow or sound to give the observer away.

On a tree branch, Sub-Zero was examining the area to tell which area he should head to next, what trail gives away the position of one of them, and a sudden kick strikes the back of his head hard enough to push anyone to go down on the ground head first, what Bi Han did to hold him from falling is locking his legs pretty fast on the branch he stood on, a skill he could perform quicker if not for the shock to his arachnoid mater. He tried to recover his balance to no avail, another kick to his back stopped him from trying to recover, a third kick made him let go of the branch and fall to the ground.

The assailant stood in place for a few moments, in a position ready to finish Bi Han, the iceman was beginning to recover, and he received another hard kick to the back of his head, the assailant held back on grunting or making any noise, he did not want to reveal who he is to his target, but he waited long enough to be seen fully performing the kill he came to perform.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 28​

Both Cyrax and Sektor returned to the battle arena the next day, the friend of Bi Han carried the remains of a skeleton, Sektor was silent and annoyed his clan lost a deadly warrior who could have made a very fine loyal and powerful cyborg, who might one day work under his own command. Scorpion looked at the remains. Johnny Cage, Liu Kang, and Sonya Blade looked at how the flesh is burnt off the corpse completely, nobody took this as the work of Sektor, when he killed Boyka he did not burn the whole flesh, his pride is not there with this kill.
The moment passed with stares and silence, Shang Tsung broke the silence by continuing the tournament. Shang thought how pathetic this reaction is, contestants know of deaths resulting in these matches, why give importance to one happened out of the matches?

A while after that, round 1 of the tournament came to an end, round 2 started, first match was Johnny Cage vs Sektor, the Lin Kuei decided this was a good time to exact his revenge, his decision was met with utmost disappointment as it didn't take long for the actor to disarm his opponent using energy blasts, Cage destroyed the flamethrower, taking with it Sektor's potential upperhand, and the match ended in favor of Johnny Cage with a hard kick to Sektor's jaw, and another to his right knee. "Why are you in this tournament if you are such a wimp?"

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 29​

This question teased Sektor, Johnny turned around to walk away without the tournament master announcing a victory, Sektor stood on his undamaged leg to walk as silently as he can to sneak behind Cage and kill him, unlucky for him that Cage felt the approaching enemy, he turned around to deliver and upward kick sending Sektor to his side of spectators. Cyrax heads to help him up, the disappointment of seeing his friend killed stopped him from laughing.

4 matches later it was up to Cyrax to fight, his idea was to win and spare the lives of Earth realm warriors, better that than to purposely lose and let anyone he faces face a deadly foe he or she might lose against. He stuck with that plan until he faced Liu Kang, that fighter was overwhelmingly powerful he defeated Cyrax with ease.

Liu Kang survived all his opponents, and was honored to face prince Goro in kombat, sent to the lair of the prince of the Shokan via portal by Shang Tsung, Goro proved to be more powerful than other fighters, but Liu's powers overwhelmed him, Ermac was sent there secretly to trap the hero of Earth realm, he restrained his legs so that Goro can land the finishing blow, the prince of the Shokan is a dedicated servant to the thrown of Outworld, but he is still one with honor, and pride as a prince, it made him ponder the thought of delivering the final blow to Liu Kang for a while, his loyalty to the thrown overwhelmed him, and forced him to deliver a fire ball, Liu ducked, Ermac was struck, the battle continued with Liu Kang's victory.

Shang Tsung is livid with anger when he sees Liu Kang exits the portal, the final battle starts between Liu Kang and the tournament's host, the level of power displayed by Shang Tsung is admirable, but still not enough to take down the one promised to be Earth's champion. The battle ended, everyone retreated back to their homes. On their way home, Cyrax was holding Sektor, and he remembered that the skeletal remains he carried are still on the island.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 30​

Tundra, Smoke, and the rest made their coup and succeeded while the other three were busy with the tournament, Oniro was downed, but not yet killed.

Oniro *Wounded and exhausted manner*: "How did I fail? I thought I had more loyal soldiers than this."
Tundra: "You denied everyone here their basic rights."
Oniro: "Rights? You don't need more rights than what I assign to you, you are soldiers."
Tundra: "A good number of us were abducted to serve you, no, to serve the clan."
Oniro: "You were carefully selected because of physical heritage, you were chosen, you have been honored."
Tundra: "Our parents, our families, our connections.. we were denied connection to them, they were denied their rights to see us grow, to feel what they long awaited, you denied us a great connection, a bond too precious."
Oniro *In an angry manner*: "You are all weak, pathetic, I am your family."
Tundra: "Family don't kidnap, terrorize, threaten, or do any wrong to their members they way you did, and they don't plan to turn us to cybernetic units."

Cyrax and Sektor see the gathering of crowds in the lair, Sektor wants to see, he demands it, Cyrax understands him, albeit the broken jaw.
"AAATHEEH" a poor attempt of Sektor to communicate with his injuries, those are more severe than what he had early in the island. "OOO II' IS 'O 'II? OW AIIE OU O' 'AAH 'O 'II?"
Oniro looks at this with disappointment, his pathetic disappointment of a son is the reason he wanted to make a cyborg out of him, he couldn't trust the bloodline continuation through such a weak fool.
One of the formerly loyal soldiers chose this time to step on the neck of the clan's grandmaster so hard he snaps it, instantly killing the man with the maniacal plan.
"'OOOOOOOOO!!! 'AAAA'EEEEHH". This maddens Sektor, the fool who looked forward to the power of becoming a cyborg.
Another soldier is too tired of his crap, he snaps the neck of the arrogant fool without much thought.

Some ask Cyrax if he is into the cyber initiative plan, Smoke, Tundra, and Hydro step in to defend the man, Tundra in particular is confident in Cyrax, even before joining his brother in their last quest before the tournament.
Cyrax thanks them, and asks how did they convince even the most loyal of them, Kuai Liang reasons this with the simple "Cyber initiative deprives everyone of the right to have sexual pleasure, even by hand", it made Cyrax laugh in amusement for a while before he is asked about Bi Han.

Cyrax *After an introduction of the adventure he and Bi Han had prior to the tournament*: "Sektor and I saw your brother ambushed, and killed by Scorpion"
Kuai Linag *in frustration*: "You saw this happen, and chose to do nothing."
Cyrax *Apologetic*: "The ability he displayed with his current amped up state is monstrous, it terrified me to think I can save your brother without getting killed myself."
Kuai Linag *frustration turned to anger*: "This will not go by without retaliation."
Cyrax *Concerned*: "But it will end up with your death, you are the current leader of the clan."
Kuai *Surprised*: "What?"
Cyrax: "We need a new leader, it looks like youi have proved yourself worthy."
Tundra looks around, and sees most of the clan members in agreement about it.
Kuai Linag stops turning around and says: "I am not certain I can lead the clan, not yet."
Smoke: "You've shown good skill in leading the rebellion."
Hydro: "Should you choose to retaliate against the one who killed your brother in such injust manner, we shall aid you."
Kuai Liang accepts the position, announces that he will assume a new name, in honor of his fallen brother he shall be known as Sub-Zero.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 32​

The first order of command given by the new Sub-Zero is to gain information on how to find the killer of his brother, he ordered Cyrax to go to where Raiden is, he was accompanied by a couple of soldiers. This party of Lin Kuei warriors marched to the Temple of the Old Woods in hopes to find Raiden to ask for the information they seek, the journey ended by them reaching their destination to find Raiden talking to a young man Cyrax did not recognize, the members talking were on a high perch.

Before having the chance to go up, a battalion of Tarkatans exited portals to invade the temple, monks, guests, and the visitors fought the assailants from Outworld and pushed them back, but not without casualties and wounded from both sides.

Raiden, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and Boraicho approached Cyrax, they thanked them for their assistance and asked about their purpose of visitation, Cyrax told them about the dilemma with Scorpion and how they wanted to help Sub-Zero to get back at him for killing his brother. "I did not know of another Sub-Zero, and that he is a leader of your clan." said Liu Kang, "Our leader told me to inform you that our clan will also be ready to assist Earth Realm against attacks as the one that happened today" Cyrax replied. Raiden told him "These are good news you brought us, we could use all the help we can get. Shang Tsung told me that if we do not come to Outworld to compete in the tournament he proposed, they will invade Earth Realm on a larger scale, betraying the deal made between the elder guardians of Earth and the Emperor of Outworld. You can tell your leader that he will find Scorpion in the tournament there."

Cyrax and his companions bowed down before Raiden and those who accompany him, before leaving they remembered to ask Raiden "How will we go there?", Raiden promised to go to their lair to open a portal taking them to their desired destination. Cyrax bowed down again and left the premise to head back and relay the news.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 33​

The news have been delivered, Sub-Zero is satisfied, and asks "Who else is joining the quest?". Smoke and a few more answer their will to join the tournament with their friend. Hydro, Cyrax, and the rest were commanded to stay in that duration, the realm will need protectors in case of an attack, Hydro was appointed as the stand in for the leader in the duration. Cyrax knew he was in a state of mind unfit to lead, so he was not disappointed in not being assigned.

Raiden comes in to open a portal, he is greeted warmly, and warriors bow down before him, then they enter the realm. The portal lead to the Wasteland, where all warriors from Earthrealm were instructed to meet in as point of rendezvous and wait until everyone was gathered. Liu Kang and Kung Lao were already waiting for them at that point, and they were shortly joined by Johnny Cage who was annoyed for being pulled off set urgently, followed by Jax Briggs and Sonya Blade who felt uneasy sent to another world in the middle of duty.
A short introduction was made and they marched on.

On the way, Sub-Zero felt the confusion Johnny and Sonya had, he asks if they met his older brother in the previous tournament, they replied in confirmation, "He was a really nice guy" Johnny said "I didn't expect to meet someone as friendly as he was", "Especially not with such aura of anger" that last line was Sonya's. Kuai Liang was pleased that his brother made new allies, "I am willing to trust you, cause my brother generally has a good judgement on who is worthy of trust, even if you weren't trusted already by lord Raiden".

By the gate of the arena, Princess Kitana and her loyal friend Jade greeted the warriors of Earthrealm, and expressed their gratitude in seeing a better chance for liberating Edenia from the tyranny of Shao Kahn, "Who is this Shao Kahn" asked Smoke, "He is the ruthless ruler of Outworld, nothing pleases him more than to squeeze the lives out warriors standing against his rule, and invading their worlds, forcing the populace to live in everlasting misery." Kitana answered with anger held down from her tone, the anger turns to grief as she says "He also killed my parents to take over this world".

Inside Kahn's arena, Shao Kahn rudely announces "Guests, Welcome. I see that more Lin Kuei warriors joined to fight for us this tournament." Kitana and Jade have startled looks on their faces as they turn around to see the masked men in their ranks, they are worried for telling enemies what they truly think of the adopted father of Princess Kitana. This new Sub-Zero won't let it slide "We are here today on invitation from Lord Raiden, he asked for us, we answered his summon, and we fight in his ranks.", not pleased with Sub-Zero's answer, Kahn finds his guest to be rude and undisciplined. Quan Chi made a suggestion.

The Story of Sub-Zero - Part 34​

The tournament began, Scorpion was the first contestant, his challenger was Sub-Zero. "You died, I saw Cyrax carrying remains of your skeleton, how is it that you are alive?" Scorpion is surprised at the sight of his opponent, with a tone of innocence he asked that question, to receive an angry, voice toned down, with grit teeth "You killed my older brother". "I wanted to at first, but he has shown reason to question that decision, I was as surprised as anyone that he was killed".

Kahn is annoyed by their discussion, and told them to begin the fight, the duo fought with neither one of them using his weapons or special tricks, no dirty moves were made in the fight. Both Quan Chi and Scorpion were surprised and worried seeing how the new Sub-Zero is a stronger warrior than his predecessor, Scorpion was afraid that he might be killed as retribution for a kill he is certain he did not soil his hands with, Quan Chi's worries boiled down to how dangerous this new adversary is, and the potential of him sharing the views of the older Sub-Zero.

Kung Lao noticed something wrong with the way Quan Chi looked, he was in Tsung's island long enough to know why the position of this sorcerer is concerning, and approached him in hopes to distract him from what sinister scheme he concocts, to be intercepted by a black clad ninja telling him "You'd better turn around and walk away", Lao smiled calmly and asked why, another black figure was exiting the shadow of the black clad ninja, the shadow figure was darker than the one talking to the Xiaolin warrior who sensed this move and teleported to get Quan Chi in his position and be bound by the shadow and receive a punch from the black ninja, it stopped Quan Chi from performing his trick during the fight, and he looked the way of the black ninja to tip his hat. Shao Kahn noticed that and wanted to snap Kung Lao's neck, but he received treatment by the blade edged hat to his hand and chopped them off.

As this was taking place, Scorpion went by Sub-Zero's back to grab him from the shoulders and talk gently in his ears; "Quan Chi knows everything you are inquisitive about", Sub-Zero grabbed the hands of his opponent, threw him in the floor, and thanked him after Hanzo pointed at the white skinned sorcerer who is scolding the black ninja. Kahn is busy trying to fit his hands back in place and didn't look at the match to declare the winner, he thought of only one idea, to kill the man with the hat.

That's a great story and it's extra interesting to me since Sub-Zero is my favorite MK character! I look forward to more
