The Dark Knight Tuesday 4/24/07 Set Report

^ he means you can shoot in the day and with proper filters/effects cloak the image as if at nighttime. unfortunately, he forgot that banks are not open at night :)

is there a rule batman cant go out in the day?
Yes, there is. Not a written rule... but just think about it. This movie's called The Dark Knight, not The Daytime Knight.

day for night shooting

it is when you film during daylight using filters and other techniques to make it appear as though it is night time

most commonly used practice in hollywood until film noir broke out in the late 40's and used night for night shooting techniques which was and is very uncommon

Plus if you've seen Dr. No, you know that it never works very good. Then again that movie is like, what?... 50 years old?

Here is the way I see it...

The fact that there is a bus already there, parked - maybe a Gotham Local School is having a field trip? So the Jokerz bust into the bank, take the green, Joker offs his mates and hops into the school bus.

And the Jokers hair will be green :cmad:

They need to fire that bus driver then.

"Okay kids, here we are. Now let's just find a parking space. Oh screw it! I'll just drive INTO the bank!!"

Sergio Leone in "For a Few Dollars More" put dark brown makeup in one scene on Clint Eastwood's face to give the illusion of nighttime. It just looked to me like Clint Eastwood's face was brown, lol. Classic film!

I don't understand the deal with Ledger's hair and make-up. Maybe it will make sense later, but he doesn't seem very Joker-ish at all, and that frightens me. I know we have to expect something different, but a tint of green in the hair, no make-up, and a mask?

I don't get it.

He's not wearing make-up because there's no point. His face will be hidden under a mask. Would you sit through hours putting on make-up if it wasn't gonna show?

As for the mask. Read the sides. He puts on a mask just like the rest of his goons, but takes it off for a moment inside. For some reason he wants to blend in with his henchmen, so he wears a mask just like them.

The mere fact that Ledger's stunt double has full green hair means Joker will be the Joker in this scene. So you can relax about that.

lolol amazing, amazing post. i love that you caught yourself on that odd example :woot:

There are video clips on youtube that pretty much give the scene away. Batman doesn't show up.
