I would like to start a potential graphic novel based off the Ultimate Batman concept from Wizard a long while back.

I always found it interesting and thought a great deal could be done with it.

For my story, what Im looking to do is a bit differnt than whats come before. When most say they want a darker Batman, they generally mean grittier, meaner. When I say it, I mean I want a Batman that fits in a world where the villains belong in horror films.

My Joker is flat out an insane murdering clown, he doesnt really have a plan, its random, and its full out anarchy.

I would love some help with this if any artists would like to jump in. I can script it.

First, I always think a good base breakdown of the characters in the story is a great place to start. Other characters may get added if the story fits, but just for a general concept.

For Ultimate Gotham, I plan to use the following characters in the story.

Batman/Bruce Wayne
Joker
Dick Grayson
Jason Todd
Tim Drake
Barbara Gordon
Commissioner James Gordon
Catwoman/Selina Kyle
Superman

Next entry will be my Ultimate style bios of each character

So you've just described a Nolan graphic novel. That's original

I'd love to help. Maybe with some concepts and what not.

I'm not saying it's a unoriginal idea, forgive me, but when you write it out, try to differentiate yourself from Nolan so it doesn't look like you're copying his style. That's my suggestion, unless it is what you are going for in which case i apologize

I have some ideas as well. Try not to make your Batman conform to either the movies' vision of him nor the classic archetypal superhero. Play up the creepy, mysterious angle of him. For example, I've always liked the idea of him using the cape to kind of hide his hand movements, when he's attacking or reaching into his belt.

I think we will be on the same page with that quite a bit. For my vision, the cape and cowl are one piece, so he is cloaked 100% in shadow, only in close range combat would you see the suit under the cape.

I dont really see the direct Nolan copy element in my head, but maybe it came out that way in the text, for me, this is more of Batman in a horror movie universe. For example, I plan on having 3 robins in my story, Nolan wont even use 1. Dick Grayson, Jaosn Todd, and Tim Drake all work for Oracle as her Birds of Prey.

This Bruce Wayne has been training his entire life much like the comics, however, he has yet to don the actual bat suit. He doesnt really know yet how he will go about the actual clobbering of corruption in his city. Basically he is looking for opportunity. Enter a psychopath known as Joker.
Dressed like Pee Wee Herman in purple, he has just killed 3 kids at a carnival. The police think a child killer using the concept of a clown is on the loose, Wayne tracks him down and finds out the police are wrong, because Joker attacks a family, and instead of killing the kids, he leaves them alive and kills there parents in front of them, looking to the kids after he simply tells them to smile.

The scenario being so close to his own, Wayne finally becomes the Batman, but a secret ID doesnt keep very long when your the wealthiest man in Gotham city

Heath's Joker, wasnt really that scary, and he most certainly had a plan. The Joker I want to write is completely unpredictable. He wont prove a point on two boats, he would just blow them both up. Nobody can work with or for him, he will simply kill them too.

By villains that belong in a horror film, what kind of horror films did you have in mind?

Good luck, many say they're interested in making a graphic novel but i never see those projects complete

Im not looking to rip off anything in particular, but in my opinion, killers should be scary. Ummm, ok, concept wise, Scarecrow, more like Nightmare on Elm Street, Joker more like devils rejects, Riddler would probably be more like seven. It depends on the character, point is to make sure that the situations are more realistic, and if a character kills people, he may not always have a mob mentality, he may kill anyone is his path. Someone like Victor Zsasz is cake, yet Nolan made him a hired gun for the mob.

Obviously thats a concern, I know Ill script it, problem is who will draw it?
