I've been a fan of Batman: The Animated Series and the movies but never got into the comics. I'd like to start reading some Batman comics but I have no idea where to start. I was thinking of reading The Killing Joke. I like the look and feel from the brief summary but I am concerned it may take place to far into the story, judging from Barbra Gordon being shot.

Are there any comics that offer The Killing Joke's feel but start a little more towards the begining of the Batman world? I would prefer they be Joker, Riddler or Peguin story lines.

Thanks

Yeah, go check out that thread. You'll find some good ideas.

But maybe I should offer you a bit of advice here too. After being a Marvel fanboy for years, with the approach of "Batman Begins" I decided to get into Batman again. I chose two TPBs, and they instantly got me hooked:

THE KILLING JOKE
THE LONG HALLOWEEN

Two of the best comics you'll ever read. They got me back into Batman, and made me a DC convert. Start your journey there.

Well, for Bats' early career stuff, best place to start is Batman: Year One. Origins and all that, and a great read. Then there's The Long Halloween and it's sequel Dark Victory.

Those are the main ones, some other pretty good early years stuff-

The Man Who Laughs (Bats first meets Joker)
Batman & The Monster Men
