"Unbreakable" and "Signs" are, IMO, M. Night's only really good movies, but he's only done a few, and has a good-looking one coming out soon.

You could say there wasn't enough moisture in the athmosphere to actually harm them--it was only when it was actual water that it hurt them.

Yeah, I know it's a movie and believe me I'm the first to suspend my disbelief, but it's just so blatantly lazy to write a script like that.
Movies are supposed to make some type of sense. I can ignore the little things, but that's a huuuuge plot hole.

I will say that it has a great atmosphere and feel, and I can enjoy the movie because of that, but theres too much that doesn't make sense for me to call it a good movie.
It's decent.

Unbreakable's a great movie, I'd never want a sequel, the first ended perfectly, I really don't want to see David the superhero. Seeing the origin was plenty, I'd fear the sequels would end up like the Matrix sequels or Star Wars prequels.

That's my biggest complain about Signs.

Unbreakable needs a sequel...now.

My favorite superhero movie though a little on the slow and long side. Willis had a habit of being just above comatose in many of his films but the underplaying works well here under Shamalian's direction, as does the various nods to comic book lore. I dug thehomage to STM with the pool drowning scene and the costume the hero wore was definitely a take-off on The Spectre. Other refernces abound. The final battle with the killer is dynamite aided mightily by that stirring music. The whole father/son hero-worhsip thing was very insightful and touching, funny at times, too.

I think what made this movie great was that it was so very pure and based in reality. And the fact that David Dunn had lived his entire life with this gift, using it everyday on his job and not even realizing it makes you really wonder what else might be out there.

I also liked the point that David was a rather shy man. He didn't learn about his powers and then run out into the night to beat up all the scum. Look how he handled "Mr. Glass" at the end. He pointed him to the authorities, not taking justice into his own hands.

I believe the thing that people fail to realize on this is that there are different types of water. Tap water has a crap load of chemicals in it to keep "fresh" while rain water, & moisture is pretty much pure water. I believe that it was the chemicals in the tap water that killed the Alien not the water itself. I have no proof of this. It is just a theory.

The Village was abominable crap. 1. You don't promise monsters and then not deliver with the monsters. 2. It was incredibly predictable.

Ahh but he did deliver the monsters. That is the beauty of this movie. The monster are the elders. That last shot in the movie is disturbing if you look at that way. Ivy is sitting by the bed while all the elders are behind her. She is surrounded by evil, & she doesn't even realize it.

Early reviews of Lady in the Water are saying that it's not a good movie.
I think Joblo had one, but it was pulled.

I could give a rats ass what other people think. Especially Shams films. As you could probably tell from this thread. Everyone has there favorite Shams film that they hate or like. I myself will be there on opening day. For everybody else there is always Marketing genius on a plane... woops I mean Snakes On A Plane.

Signs isn't even about aliens... it's just the excuse to make the film... it's how a man loses his faith and gets it back again... the aliens and their origins are irrelevant... and damn that scene with the alien on the TV... ****ing pissed in my pants... that's a classic.. ignore the stupid plot holes that don't make sense... yes movies don't always have to make perfect sense, but if it's good... the plot holes can be ignored...
