Are you a fan of it or not?

I voted "no opinion," which isn't all true, but the closest of the options. I prefer him without, but I'm not the type to foam at the mouth with rage when someone draws him with the webs, especially since it's usually much more subtle than the flying-squirrel-like look in the pic you posted.

I wouldn't mind. The more stuff they add to differentiate it from the last trilogy the better. As long as it looks good. If not, then don't bother.

There's a limit to how much there should be, but I do like the webbing.

I wouldn't mind it if it was saved for the finale.

Spidey needs some extra distance to get to the final confrontation or something, and launches himself, and then we see the webs giving him the little bit of extra lift (or slow down his fall) that he needs. Nice little nod to the fans, and something not in the trilogy.

No..

I think it would look silly.

I like it, but it's been a while since I've seen it in modern times. I think for the most part it's cool, but it could look kind of strange in some situations and depending on how large an artists draws the "web wings."

When it's drawn right it's a cool accessory. Sometimes the angle of his body makes it prohibitive. I think subtle is the best way to go, though. Not down to his wrists like Ditko had it. Sometimes down to the elbow can be acceptable. What I have no firm opinion on is whether or not it could work in a live-action costume design.

So basically the Buscema circa 1991 approach, you're saying?

I voted yes. Nothing wrong with a little extra flair. However, I agree that Ditko went a bit overboard with it.

I never did like it. Thank goodness they never used it in the movies.

I dont know where you guys are getting the idea that I was refering to the movies in any way. I was talking about the comics.

Probably because of all the debate over whether or not to use it in the reboot. Which is something I have no firm opinion on. It hasn't, to date, been used effectively in a real live costume on an actual human being. This leads some to conclude that it can't. I'm not so sure.

Moving right along, one thing I will say is that when it is drawn, I prefer that it is done in such a way that actually mimics the web pattern of the rest of the suit, rather than the fishnet pattern that many artists tend to favor.

These examples are MUCH better, IMO. Here we see what looks like web under the arm but DOESN'T look like he sprayed his armpits with his webshooters.

And some will ask how much is too much. I say Ditko's way was excessive. Halfway to the elbow is fine. It makes it visible without looking like he's using it to glide.

Im no way or the other, it looks great when drawn well, but at the same time, when its not there, im not missing it.

That's fair. Have we even seen it since "Ultimate" & the movies came out?

I have never liked the idea of the armpit webbing having a practical purpose. That's more a Spider-Woman trait. He doesn't glide. He's not Batman. His costume-and all visible elements thereof-is just for show. Nothing more.
I don't think I was even truthfully aware of the "web-pits" until 1991.

Armpit webbing is useless and pointless, it doesn't even make the suit looks better
I love the suit 100000X without the armpit webbing

Why do we keep pointing out that it's useless/pointless? It's not SUPPOSED to have a point. Neither do chest symbols, bat-ears, cowl wings, CAPES (in most cases) or lightning streak markings. They're a decoration, nothing more.

Chest symbols are symbols to inspire civilians and maybe strike fear in criminals. Bat-ears cast demonic shadows and have audio tech installed. Cowl wings can have audio tech too (they do for the Flash). Capes give shooters a bad target, can hold stuff, be used for gliding....

Under arm webbing...?

Most cape wearers don't use their capes for gliding. Do you think Superman does? Batman's ears only have audio tech in the movies (as far as I know-and even if they DO have it in the comics it wasn't always the case.) I don't read Flash so I'll have to take your word for it on the audio tech in his case. And what I meant was these things generally have no practical purpose. They are mainly decorative.
