The Underworld: Rise of the Lycans Trailer Hits!

Apple has debuted the new trailer for Screen Gems' Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, hitting theaters on January 23rd. Directed by Patrick Tatopoulos from a script by Danny McBride, the third installment stars Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy, Rhona Mitra and Kevin Grevioux.

The prequel story traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires known as Death Dealers and their onetime slaves, the Lycans. In the Dark Ages, a young Lycan named Lucian (Sheen) emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has enslaved them. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, Sonja (Mitra), in his battle against the Death Dealer army and his struggle for Lycan freedom.

There's a couple of cool shots in there and some horrible CGI, can't say it really grabbed my interest.

i dig the look;
some of the cgi looks poor but just the idea of hundreds of werewolves storming a vampire led castle is enuff to get my ass in a seat.

But it isn't as bad the CGI in new bond movie. That scene where bond alongwith some guy falls and breaks the roof is just plain bad and lifeless. Frankly speaking it felt like bond was some superhero or something. He aint.

That CGI looked fine to me and certainly much better than the PS2 things that were running around in that trailer, but each to their own I guess.

No Kate Beckinsale? I'm not seeing it. But that chick looks like a Selene rip off. Though I was pleasently surprised to see the footage wasn't as bad as I thought. But why ,ake it a prequel? Why not continue Salene's story?

cuz kate beckinsale didnt want to do another but the studio wanted a new flick; and a prequel makes more sense then recasting imo

There was never anything said about Beckinsale not wanting to do another movie, she said she'd gladly come back anytime because she likes the direction of the series. A prequel will give us a breather though.

i heard she didnt want to come back --
mustve been misinformation (damn! i cant believe the internet lied to me lol )... im glad, id like to see UNDERWORLD 3, not that the prequel doesnt look good or anything.
