I found this movie very badass. It was probably because I'm more of a Lycan fan than Vampire.

Speaking of the Lycans, I love that they designed them to look more like William, who has sort of a coyote esque jawline, which looked badass.

I agree, it really gave more insight just as to how sick and cruel Viktor was.

The fact that he thinks he was like a father to Lucian even though he was a slave shows how twisted he was.

I just like him being a good old school Dracula style vampire. He tolerates insolence in no one, and will put you into a wall if you really p!$$ him off. And i liked that he kept the blue-white eyes in the whole time, I think the make-up was a bit more bold for the vampires this time around.

Also, the Lycan effects look great. You actually see the wolves rock climbing like mad, but it looks really cool. I like how they showed Lucians Virgin Birth too, and his Spartacus style upbringing.

Another couple cool scenes of note, the giant crossbows shooting through the windows, and the Wolf Cave. I hope this warrents another prequel sequel, it seems like the more films they do, the better the films get.

There's a lot they can do....make a prequel further showing Lucian as leader, and showing either Amelia or Markus as ruler....or go into detail about how Lucian went into hiding, and show the events leading up to Selene's family being murdered, and her becoming a vampire.

Just saw it. I liked it alot. The only thing I would have added was the other elders and more Raz time.

Christ in a Christmas tree, this was irredeemably awful. Not a single well-directed moment, filled with cliche-ridden bland dialogue and acted out by mannequins. Nighy and Sheen are so much better than this cesspool.

It was like a really ****ty cut-scene before a video-game.

...and a more appropriate title would have been "The Passion of the Lycan".

1/5

Good review Nivek.

My gf and I are seeing this tomorrow. Good to know there is some good werewolf action since I'm also more of a werewolf fan than a vampire fan.

Dude, it's explained in the first movie and in this one that only one elder is allowed to rule at a time, so having more than one would break continuity.

If you love werewolves, this is the movie for you. :word:

I'm not going to spoil anything, but I was worried it could potentially disappoint. I was glad it didn't. I deem it the best of the series, and whereas the second movie was only great action wise, this movie is great in both storytelling and action.

Be sure to tell us what ya think once you see it.

i really liked it until the end. it didn't show lucian getting his arm branded, which is a big part of the original movie

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans
I thought it was going to be pretty lame but it was very entertaining.
Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy acted well.Rhona Mitra is beautiful.Tons of graphic and intense action, but there were some plot holes.I totally agree about the timing of the night and day battles ,unless the battles began at 4 a.m and ended by 6:30 a.m HA HA I actually want to go back and watch the previous Underworld films now.
Scale of 1-10 a 7

It was hard to get into. Very confusing and poorly directed. Patrick Tatapoulous and his inexperience showed. He was not ready for this job.

I wanted to like the whole Lucian/Sonia pairing, but they didn't quite sell it well enough. The movie was very rushed. Politics were all rather confusing.

The epilogue was very tacked on and ridiculous. Made no sense.

I dunno. An actual Underworld sequel would've been nice.

These werewolves likely were closer too Williams gene then the werewolves in Underworld 1.
I think in the series there should have been a Vampire Hunter who was likely enemies of Marcus. It wold have been cooler if one hunter kinds startd the War and he could have a tie into the next movie with Selene.
I mean he could have been the humanisk element. Maybe he would have feed off of Vampire blood too stay alive

Did you sit in the right theater? Because I disagree with alot of what your saying here in your short review. Tatapoulous' directing I thought was actually better than Len Wisemans from the first two films, without being a huge departure. And I thought there was more emotional investment between Lucian and Sonya was fine and showed a truckload of actor to actor chemistry, much more so than the wooden chemistry with Mikael and Selene. The Epilouge simply just fed into the first film of the series, just like the intro of the last film did. It felt like just the right leangth, not too short, but it didn't drag out. The Vampire/Human/ Lycan politics we're not confusing at all, it's not like they needed to show a pie chart.

But hey, different strokes...

I thought it was pretty damn good. It really ties the other two films together very well, referencing story points from not only the first film, but the second. For people who really loved the characters of Viktor and Lucien, this was a great film for establishing their relationship, and how it became the rivalry it was in the first film. Like Lucien said in the first film, he harbored no ill will towards the vampires, and as this new film shows, he was fiercely loyal and protective of them, even outside of his love for Sonja. And I noticed that with the exception of the flashback in the first film, where Michael sees Lucien's memories of Sonja being killed, Lucien never fully changed into a lycan during the events of the first film.

It was also great to see Tannis. Ever the opportunist.

I'd like to see another movie showing how he further betrayed the Vampires and how Selene exiled him, he was one of my favorite characters from Evolution.

It might just be me but I would love love love to see the story of Corvinus and how he came about been the one true immortal.

Screw Corvinus, I want more Lucian action...while showing Markus as ruler. Or, they could show Viktor as ruler again, and how he killed Selene's family and changed her into a vampire.

Haven't been on here in while :P

Seeing the film tonight, can't wait love the Underworld films, hope they do more :D

Good to hear most of you like it.

Saw it Friday. I liekd it, but Im more of a fan of the other Underworld films. Im not HUGE on the medieval stuff, but i thought it was good.
