Interesting.

Gee what can you do with it though? I mean let’s be honest, doom is just “you wake up in a space facility filled with demons, have fun!” which is why we love it.

Is this the same thing that they tried with The Rock and Karl Urban a few years back?

It might work better as a tv series honestly. The story is almost too straightforward but maybe some history behind the UAC and the Mars expedition as well as the occult stuff could work.

Not sure how seriously I take the person who only has some random credits from Sharknado.

I didn't mind that the Doom movie was like Aliens and having a group of Marines but it was Resident Evil in Space and had nothing to do with hell. The acting and effects was also kinda lame and not as violent as it could have been.

Also, the soundtrack was weak. The newest Doom proves a kick ass soundtrack elevates any situation.

Hey crazy thought. Maybe they’re planning a FPS shared universe so whoever the action lead in this is meets up with John Cena’s Duke Nukem and Captain Blaskowitz

Imagine how cool that would be though. Duke, blaskowitz, doom guy. We’re there any prominent women shooters of that time besides Lara Croft? Probably not and if they did, they probably weren’t great.

Maybe they could add in some overwatch characters then. Oh my gosh that would be awesome. Mei with a BFG!

God I'd love for them to just do this in the look/feel of the original 90s ID games, don't take anything from Doom 3 onward.

Won't happen, but it'd be rad. Go all cheeseball gung-ho Aliens Colonial Marines feel with the thing, fighting big cheesy hell-demons. Ditch the grittier serious stuff and all the science station semi-groundedness, just go nuts.

There's potential with something like this, but I'd rather them go with a gates of hell theme, rather than experimentation and the likes. A bunch of Marines unlocking crypts and battling demonic forces with high-tech weaponry (and the odd, conventional chainsaw) would get my vote.

Might not win any awards, but it could be a good popcorn flick.

Ugh. The first Doom movie was terrible. It wouldn't be difficult to make a better movie than that but I'm beginning to think that there will NEVER be a good video game movie. I had high hopes for the new Tomb Raider and Rampage, but after the reviews, I decided not to bother with either one.

Making it "Aliens in Hell" would go a long way. Have some likeable and memorable characters, over the top action, kick ass music, and brutal violence and it would be a good popcorn movie.

For first person shooters there's Joanna Dark of Perfect Dark.

Tomb Raider wasn't a shooter. It was a 3rd person action-adventure platform/puzzler really done in 3D.

Other 3D action games with female protagonists:

Rayne of Bloodrayne
Regina of Dino Crisis
Jill Valentine and Claire Redfield of Resident Evil

Well, yeah, but just one marine. Doom doesn't really need to be much of an ensemble, maybe just a couple of supporting characters in the first act, and some Big Bad at the end with a personality/dialogue.

But yeah, more this:

Less this:

I reckon just make it like a huge death metal concert like the last game and go nuts. And just have fun. That’s all people want

I smell Cena's Duke Nukem and Doom Guy crossover. :o

Dwayne Johnson in this one or will another WWE wrestler turned movie star going to be in this?

If I was making this movie, I'd take a risk and do it kind of like Saw or Cube: a guy or small number of people just wake up in the middle of hell, with no initial backstory or setup, and fight their way out, or at least try to. If you wanted to be all artsy about it, you could reveal the backstory throughout the movie.

If they did a crossover I would be moister than an oyster. I love that era in video games.

Maybe they could get Finn balor for dome guy then? And he’s not a wrestler but maybe Jake Ryan for blaskowitz

Once upon a time I would have insisted on ken watanabe for Lo wang. I wonder if he would still do it? If not then whom?

Haha looks like a straight to DVD thing but that’s ok. It’s good to make fun tv shows or movies you can just chill out with on a Friday night

Oh well. It’s a shame they couldn’t go big budget but I suppose they would have to sacrifice the r rating and let’s be honest, it’s not going to be a deadpool.

I’ll still watch this though

2019 Doom Movie Pushed Back To Improve Hell CGI

The upcoming movie based on the Doom video games has been delayed to the end of 2019, due to Universal Pictures wanting to give the VFX team more time to improve the CGI in the sequences set in Hell.

Dread Central has reported that Universal 1440 (the branch of Universal Pictures that is producing the film) has given the OK for the Doom delay, as they are so impressed by the product that they want to spend more time to improve the special effects before it's released.
