Fantasy Live Action ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ (Universal)

I feel like Universal showing it this early means they have confidence in it. So I can believe the good early reactions.

2027 for the sequel seems far too soon though and a little over confident.

Well, if it’s another shot-for-shot remake like this, they’ve already got the whole thing story boarded and designed.

Saw a trailer yesterday in front of Thunderbolts and dang they just showing the whole movie lol. I know it’s not changed much from the animated film but still leave something for the people who haven’t seen it in a while or at all.

I never saw any of the Dragon films so this is my first time seeing one looking forward to it

That latest trailer pretty much shows the whole movie. But still hoping this will be good.

True. But some people will have never seen the original at the same time.

To be fair, we’re not talking about a 30 year old movie here. It’s only 15 years old with the last one coming out only 6 years ago. Readily available.

Animation also has a timeless quality to it (why Disney continuously reissues their films and it plays as brand new to the next generation).

I have to assume the only people excited for this but haven’t watched the original is either because they’re very young or prefer live-action movies over animated.

2 Chris Sanders films getting live-action remakes in the same year less than a month apart. 🍿😎

No but there will be kids who watched the original who are now adults or close too. There will also be kids born since who haven't watched the original so the movie will be seen by a whole new generation.

I'm more curious about its box office performance than the movie itself. Looking at the box office numbers of the previous films, they were okay but not huge compare to several animated films that came out in the 2010s. So this wasn't something I expected to get a live action remake. Its also interesting how the 2nd remake was announced before the first remake comes out. What will they do if this underperforms?
