Up to 200 "superheroes" are currently operating in the US

By the way, here in Atlanta we have our own autistic superhero, Danger Woman, who crusades for the rights of the mentally disabled. Plus, she's a big sci-fi geek too.
She's been featured and promoted a lot on one of the local radio stations, but it seems to be one of those situations where the humor appears to come at her expense more than anything. I respect what she does, but I have to admit that listening to her annoys me greatly.

Her very own benefit concert is being held this week.

whatever happened to volunteer work and community activists?? are the costumes really needed for that?

WOW 2 of them actually have Supervillians. I did not see that coming.

Fantastico - I wonder if this Evil doer dress in a costume and what kinds of crimes this person likes to commit.

Omar Al-Bashir, Osama Bin Laden - Can Supervillian's of America, who we are on a man hunt for really be a Hero's Arch Enemy?

I think it really cool what these people are doing and support them.

I'm sorry did I mention how utterly insane and stupid and how pitifully confused these people are?

I'm not sure if confused is the right term here....these seem to be generally good people that want to help....

They're all nuckin' futs and are going to get themselves hurt or killed.

Also, and I'm just gonna throw this out there, is anyone else a bit embarrassed these people are out there? I mean, I'm obviously a comic fan, and I try very hard to show that stereotype of the fat guy in the basement pouring over back issues and eatting bag after bag of frito's while drawing up their latest D&D fanfic just isn't true. That you can like some things like superheroes and not be a crazy loner. Then you've got people like this and all they do is reinforce the stereotype of the comic nerd dressing up and playing make believe rather than actually having a life.

I totally agree....my reaction is usually "Yup, those are the people I share the fandom with"....and that guy could totally get that published, but he doesn't because he wants to keep it pure

Oh jesus I know so many of those people it's not even funny anymore.

I don't think it ever was funny.....have you seen the Desperate Housewives/Buffy/Dalek fanfic making its way around the internets....it made me hate the fact that I can read

There definitely need to be supervillains who like, come along behind the superheroes and give BETTER sandwiches, or...beer. Free beer.

This is just fantastic. If you peruse their site, you will find that they like, fake interview each other, and almost everyone says something like "I'm no hero, I'm just a..."

They're like, begging to be seen as heroes.

"Since day one, long time before I would don a Battle suit, I've always worked to achieve equilibrium between the various factions struggling on the chessboard of reality. I was going to become what I already was from the start."

"I do whatever I choose to do. That's my ethics. I'm stuck between Order and Chaos, and move from one pole to another."

Polar Man shovels elders' steps and walkways, entertains children and prowls the streets some nights keeping an eye out for vandals

It was the best of times and the worst of times. I've stopped many evil doers...such as drug dealers, muggers, rapists, and crazy hobos with pipes. I started out patrolling in just a small village, to the big city of Cincinnati, then as soon as you knew it I even went all the way out to California to do this. I've fed the homeless, and helped many others who were in need.*

Until I see some high-class MMAer in there, I don't think I could take 'em seriously.

I know they all must mean well but having checked out their profiles I'm wondering if they're really taking enough procautions. Some of these people are married, even have kids and they are trying to rescue people from muggers and such? Most these people are wearing SPANDEX. One quick gun shot from a mugger and that could be it for them. If they want to put their lives in harms way to help others that's their choice, but comeon wear some protection.

I see nothing wrong with wearing a cape and tights to places like hospitals, shelters, or schools.

Its when they actually think they can stop real crime like drug dealing or car jacking that I worry about their sanity...somebody will pop a cap in their a$$(es)

I agree, if you're dressing up simply for those reasons, like a clown, that's fine a bit hokey but whatever. It's people patroling the streets that just make me facepalm.

I'm just waiting for one of them to go too far. Like some costumed crazy pants goes and pulls a punisher. That would be awesome.

Damn, too bad no one has the gall to start a criminal organisation that wear clown mask. Where are the supervillians? The guys who creep out the Thugs?
