Welcome to Uwe Boll’s Auschwitz.

It’s a freak show we’ve been waiting on ever since he opened his mouth at a screening of Rampage last year and mentioned that he’d be starving actors for Darfur and trying to tackle one of the most sensitive Western cultural topics of the last 150 years.

Well, he’s done it.

Beyond the quality of the video being bad – which seems like it will translate to the film itself – it’s everything you expected from a ham-fisted hack like Boll. It’s Hostel meets Holocaust. Hopefully he plans on mailing a copy to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

I’m going to go wash my mind out.

What do you think?

*Speechless, and not in a good way*

Get over it man, it's just a ****ing movie.

it's also tasteless and inappropriate... most likely, haven't seen it, but it is uwe boll after all.

wow. just wow. * shruggs and walks away disgusted

"don't see it " is the best advice anyone could give about this.

After watching the teaser, which I can't post here, my mouth just hung open, like that scene from The Producers where the audience first views Springtime for Hitler.

I'll say this much....if the trailer is any indication, this is going to be a brutal film. The question is, is this a case where it is brutality with a message (Schindler's List, The Passion) or is it simply brutality for the sake of brutality like Hostel? If its the former, though few will admit it, Boll very well could have done something insanely genius. The trailer honestly did leave a huge impact on me. If this is a film that can truly capture the suffering and pain caused by the Holocaust, then it could be remarkable. If it is a film that exploits the suffering and pain, it will be a catastrophe. Based on the trailer though, it could go either way.

From what I heard Uwe Boll's last movie was pretty decent but I can't imagine him pulling this off in a tasteful way.

Too soon?

Seriously, don't see it if it bothers you this much.

Maybe I'm a bit biased because of Boll's body of work, but Boll's track record has been terrible, and his last few films on serious subject matter has been pretty disrespectful in his previous films. He has a history of mishandling projects (to mostly disastrous results) so thats why I do not believe he can do things well.

Also, that and he's one of the worst directors in the world.

I have a feeling that it will be a film with a good message just from the tagline alone. "Always remember".

It would be the most ****ed up thing for him to make a movie exploiting the Holocaust, especially with him being German.

As I said in the "Last Movie Watched" thread, he's starting to warm up to me, the movies he's written himself aren't nearly as bad as stuff he's made written from other people like House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark and Bloodrayne. When I watched films like Rampage or Farcry I realized he's not as bad as we've all been making him out to be. If he keeps doing more serious work and less campy work then i'll start to partially blame those other writers for those really ****** earlier films of his, the three I mentioned up above.

From what I hear, some of his recent stuff like Rampage had mostly improvised dialog which is why they aren't as horribly written as his earlier stuff. I think that style may be what works for him.

Considering that the prisoners in the trailer hardly looked like Aushwitz victims...yea, think this will just be trash, maybe the sickest, lowest grade trash ever. But he truly is the Ed Wood of today...just as talentless, just as clueless. I don't even believe he knows he is a terrible filmmaker. Like, I'm not even sure he can be held responsible for what he does because I think he might be THAT detached from reality.

Or he is brilliant. Boll is making a name for himself by being a crappy filmmaker. People watch his movies to see how bad they are. They know his name because of his antics. THere is no way that anyone is this clueless. He is making a fortune through this persona he's created.

This might be a win-win situation. The Holocaust as subject matter is on a level all to itself in the global film industry. If he produces something horrific in its tastelessness, his career is over. That's it. No more funding from the German government, no more tax breaks, he's done. He won't even get to make Bubble Bobble: The Adventure Begins if this happens.

Then again, if he actually produces something with artistic merit, then he gets to redeem himself somewhat.

Looks interesting. I'll watch it.

While some of the dialogue may have been improvised the films that were a step up for him like Rampage and Farcry were written by him. That's part of the reason why his earlier films sucked even more, the writers were terrible. I think he will continually get better so long as he stays away from video game adaptations and writes his own material, or gets better writers at least.

No he is not as bad as Ed Wood was. There are far worse directors out there and once again the writing from those other writers is a big factor in why those previous films sucked bigtime.

Also, how do you know what Aushwitz victims all looked like? I doubt you were there so i'm guessing you're using stereotypes thinking all of them were anorexic. Just because people are held captive under horrible conditions for a long amount of time doesn't always mean they'll lose all their weight if they're fat.

I also agree with Matt in regards to keeping this persona or character going because it still gives him attention when fanboys cry about another messed up video game adaptation.

Yeah with "horrible conditions" usually comes "borderline starvation". The ones that survived this whole nightmare might have shown up fat but I can assure you that they left very very skinny.

I feel like this teaser is attention grabbing and not in the good way, due to the fact that Uwe Boll is in the damn teaser himself playing a solider who’s in charge of making sure that the door stays locked. I have no problem with directors putting themselves into their own films, but with this sensitive subject, you'd think he would stay out of it. It really seems he wants you to think about him when you think of these horrific images in the trailer. Other than that, I am interested in this project because it can go either way.

I don't think for a second that Boll is doing something ingenious. His career has shown that he's pretty much incapable of that. Just like his movie Postal this is just horrific shock value just for the sake of shock value, Boll's trying to make a bigger name for himself, and the best thing to do is just ignore it and him.

I think this is the fairest assessment of Uwe Boll's career. I just don't respect his work but he isn't some kind of monster.

How does he keep getting money for his films?! i'm pretty sure 90% of the people who have ever seen uwe bol films do so on the internet.
