Kilmer's Batman is the Denny O'Neil/Neal Adams version come to life. An athletic superhero, who is notably more open, emotional and vulnerable, and takes himself slightly less seriously than some of the incredibly dark versions of Batman.

Go ahead, read one of the classic 60's Batman stories and then watch Kilmer in Forever.

I blame my problems with Val's performance (Same with Bale's performance) on the director. Schumacher forced Val to be a little too stiff in most scenes, and Val ended up uncomfortable in the suit most of the time. I did enjoy a great many parts of his performance, though. He does deserve an appreciation thread.

My favorite Kilmer-Batman moment is the stuff at the Nygmatech party (Though I admit, it's not "really" indicative of anything Kilmer did), after Batman makes his entrance.

The moment Kilmer really made the character his own and brought life into the role was when he was yelling and arguing with Dick right after Dick saves him. "What the Hell did you think you were doing out there?" -- Kilmer comes out of being a stiff Keaton-wannabe (Not to be cruel) and becomes unique.

I also loved "Exactly!" and the resulting Badassness of breaking Nygma's giant box-receptor.

In fact he did a very good Batman/Bruce version.

"If Bruce Wayne could have given his life for your family, he would have."

 :bat:

Of the big four who have played the modern day batman i would put him in third.

Micheal Keaton

Christian Bale

Val Kilmer

George Clooney

haha Kilmer was lame...

The best Batman was Michael Keaton.

But when play the character, you have to play 2 differnt charaters. you have to balance Bruce Wayne and Batman. Bale did that better then all of them.

Val Kilmer was great in the role. He may not have been as good as Michael Keaton and Christian Bale but he still did pretty good. The problem with Kilmer was Schumacher. Kilmer had some pretty bad lines and that smile he gave after making out with Nicole Kidman was horrible.

Kilmer comes right after Christian Bale and Michael Keaton as best Bruce Wayne / Batman but he could've done much better if it wasn't for Joel Schumacher's direction.

Kilmer sucked. He doesn't deserve an appreciation thread

Kilmer is probably the most accomplished actor of the big four he is great in films such as Alexander and Spartan even his small guest appearance in Entourage as that drug dealer was great its a shame he was so wooden as batman/wayne he could have been great

I think Kilmer was pretty good actually, he was being held back by Schumacher obviously, but overall i think he was decent, comes 3rd to Keaton and Bale though. (also behind Conroy if he counts)

I thought he was good as Batman, but great as Bruce Wayne.

Kilmer wasent as good as Keaton or Bale, that said he still did a great job as Batman/Bruce Wayne, just the other two were better, he's still my third favorite batman though, (behind a tied first of Keaton and Bale, so does that make Kilmer second?)

Val's good.

Watched the Doors a few days ago.

He was so great in that. He had everything down so well, the voice was so spot on.

And yeah...he always did remind me of Neal's Bat's.

I'm sure he could have been so much better if there was actually anything to work with.

In what...a six year span, Val Kilmer was the following

Jim Morrison

Doc Holliday

Batman

The Saint

....Not bad

Val was okay and finally they picked an actor with straight hair as Bruce Wayne has in the comics, he had a commanding voice but sounded robotic at times.

I still love his vengeance speech, so awesome. Kilmer most definatley deserves an appreciation thread.

Kilmer for Ozymandias in the Watchmen movie plz.

Like i said he is probabbly the most versatile actor of the big four maybe just on par with Keaton. he (Kilmer) was awesome in Tombstone as Doc Holiday was great as Jim Morrison in that crazy film and was also great in Alexander as the crazy father. Kilmer can do comedy and light hearted roles too such as Magmardagan in the awesome classic Willow and that guest appearance in entourage as the zany drug dealer.
Keaton is another versatile actor:Beetlejuice,Mr mom, that small role in Much Ado About nothing,Multiplicity,One good cop,Desperate measures i could go on all day.
Geoge clooney is a good actor but one i think who relies on playing the same kind of character (the charming good looking guy) in different situations but it doesnt mean he wasnt great in films like Good night and good luck,Out of sight,Syriana, welcome to collinwood and Solaris. Clooney had the potential to be the best of all actors to play batman but i believe no one could have saved Batman And Robin and he was still slightly green as an actor when he got the role (remember that annoying head nodding that he used to do whenever he uttered a long sentance?) He could have owned Batman Begins if he was younger and at this stage of his acting performances IMO.
On the Basis of films done Bale is probably the weakest but he is relatively young compared to the others though he will probably never become as famous an actor (IMO). Great films from him include the machinist and American phycho he was also good in equillibrium.

I rank Val Kilmer third best Batman/Bruce Wayne. Kilmer does appreciation thread much as Bale & Keaton.
