Wanted Interview, Thomas Kretschmann
MoviesOnline: Have you finished your work on Valkyrie?
THOMAS KRETSCHMANN: Yes. A year ago. It was literally over like November last year.
MoviesOnline: Have you seen any of it yet?
THOMAS KRETSCHMANN: No, no actor has seen it. Will Smith has seen it. Ask him. He likes it.
MoviesOnline: How was your experience working on that with Bryan Singer?
THOMAS KRETSCHMANN: Oh it was great. You know its always this subject, German films. For me, it takes a little while to get into it, and being a German, you look at it with different eyes. It was a big film. I was surrounded by people who are awesome, you know, Chris McQuarrie, Tom Cruise, Bryan Singer. I know that Im not talking about all the other guys, Terence Stamp. You know it was like big people and the pressure was on for them, because they shot a Hollywood film in Germany and the Germans were not so happy with that in the beginning. I think it was a matter of trust, that they didnt know how and to what extent their history was going to be used for a Hollywood blockbuster. But the intentions were very serious from the people, and they wanted to be honest, they wanted to do an honest film, and I think that is what they did. Im very glad to be in the film, and I worked with great people, and lets see how the films going to be. They are shooting as we speak. They are shooting the beginning right now.
MoviesOnline: Who do you play?
THOMAS KRETSCHMANN: I play Major Remer. Thats the guy opposite Tom Cruises character, Stauffenberg, who single handedly brings the whole uprising, brings them down. He discovered what was going on, and he did a little thinking, and then he -- I dont know how to say that *****ed them over.
MoviesOnline: Are they re-shooting the beginning now?
THOMAS KRETSCHMANN: Theyre not re-shooting, theyre shooting the beginning.
MoviesOnline: This is a very long shoot?
THOMAS KRETSCHMANN: Its a very big film.
