reallly? It was more like Tom Cruise choosing Singer to direct the movie.

reallly?
singer honestly couldn't get actors that could convincingly pull off german accents?
Epic fail.
WHY would they speak with german accents?
This is pissing me off to no end. Though the actors are english speaking (it's a Hollywood movie, so of course) we all know that they are supposed to be speaking in german. Do you really need the german accent to validate this?
*Tom Cruise walks in*
Tom Cruise: What is this?
(OMG, I DON'T GET IT? WHERE IS HE FROM?!?!)
Tom Cruise: Wat iz deeez?
(Oh, there you go)
Its not so much the fact that they're not using German accents that bothers me, moreso Singers excuse that it would come off as "stupid".
Its almost like he's saying that the actors in his film aren't capable to perform with a convincing accent. As I mentioned before, there's more to acting then simply dressing the part.
Its a cop-out excuse...a lame one at that.
Maybe Singer should've cast Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber...they seem to be pretty good with accents.

Having them use german accents WOULD be stupid. Either have them speak german or just don't bother with the accents.
So you're telling me that you think that Branagh, Stamp, Wilkinson and Nighy aren't good actors. Its almost like he's saying that the actors in his film aren't capable to perform with a convincing accent. As I mentioned before, there's more to acting then simply dressing the part.

And tell me, do you think that Viggo Mortensen, Mark Strong and Jason Isaacs are good actors?
Curiously enough, nobody seems to mind that the teenage protagonist in Slumdog Millionaire has an American accent, even though he his brother has a Hindi accent, the character himself had a Hindi accent as a child, and the actor is British.Singer honestly couldn't get actors that could convincingly pull off German accents?

I think the Oscar hype died the same way it died for The Reader, although Kate Winslet's performance is still pulling The Reader along. Problems with release date spread the overall bad vibe for the film (as with The Reader), but Valkyrie also had filming problems in Germany and budget problems and reshoots.hmmm we will see. i was expecting more hype for this movie. on the level of benjamin button or milk.

Granted, production problems don't always kill a movie (coughTitaniccough), but they certainly don't help.
I mentioned Viggo because in "Good" he, Mark Strong and Jason isaacs acts as german people during the nazi period and none of them uses tha fake German accent.I dunno where you're going with this, but Viggo Mortensen is a quality actor.
And btw, why do people want the accents? whats so appealing about it?
