Looks like a Bioshock game, but with less shooting and more decision making.
The original was similar.
A brief overview of vampire the masquerade.
There are 13 different clans of vampires. Each has different strengths and weaknesses. 7 clans make up the camarilla. They are basically considered sort of good guys. They enforce the masquerade (hiding vampirism from humanity). 2 clans make up the sabbat as well as basically rebels from other clans. They are at war. You also have some independant clans and anarchs.
All vampires are descended from caine. The curse passed down by drinking a humans blood to the point of death then letting the human drink the vampires blood. Caine pased the curse onto 3 others. They in turn passed it on to 13 more (the heads of each of the clans) and so on and so forth although each "generation" away from caine was a bit weaker. Although you can raise your generation by drinking the blood of a generation higher until they die. This is called diablerie. The camarilla outlaw this punishment death. The sabbat don't give a crap.
You also have wraiths, mages, werewolves hanging about. Werewolves mostly outside of cities and hate vampires. Everyone leaves mages alone. There are human hunters that know of vampires and try to hunt them down.
Vampires have special powers called disciplines. Each clan has 3 they are very good at but can learn others. Disciplines can include super speed, controlling peoples minds, using shadows as weapons, a form of magic, strength, shape changing etc... you will also have normal abilities and skills that you can increase.
The game will be very political. Prestige is important to vampires, each city is led by a prince. A vampire that will lead the city on behalf of the camarilla. They have archons (basically sherrifs) who enforce their rules. But most manueverings by vampires would be non violent. Basically a house of cards with fangs. Vampires (or kindred as they refer to themselves), have influence of different parts of society. Ventrue clan will probably have influence over politics, while the toreador will have influence over the arts, while brujah might run a street gang or two.
Be careful with what you do with your xp. This is not a game where you can max out stats. Nowhere close.
