I enjoyed Redemption back in the day. Never knew about Bloodlines, but I'll keep an eye out for this since I enjoyed playing in that setting.

Glad the writer of the original is writing this. The original was a great story, with some really good characters.

What kind of game is this? Lie it is RPG, but you go around hunting vampires? Like Castlevania?

No you are a vampire. Check out the site linked in the op all the information you need is there.

Looks like a Bioshock game, but with less shooting and more decision making.

It’s based on the Pen-and-Paper RPG, Vampire: the Masquerade, within the World of Darkness IP. As far as the original Bloodlines go, you play as a newly-embraced Vampire who has to navigate the Vampire politics of L.A. I highly recommend playing the original, it’s for sale right now on most game distributor sites.

The original was similar.

A brief overview of vampire the masquerade.

There are 13 different clans of vampires. Each has different strengths and weaknesses. 7 clans make up the camarilla. They are basically considered sort of good guys. They enforce the masquerade (hiding vampirism from humanity). 2 clans make up the sabbat as well as basically rebels from other clans. They are at war. You also have some independant clans and anarchs.

All vampires are descended from caine. The curse passed down by drinking a humans blood to the point of death then letting the human drink the vampires blood. Caine pased the curse onto 3 others. They in turn passed it on to 13 more (the heads of each of the clans) and so on and so forth although each "generation" away from caine was a bit weaker. Although you can raise your generation by drinking the blood of a generation higher until they die. This is called diablerie. The camarilla outlaw this punishment death. The sabbat don't give a crap.

You also have wraiths, mages, werewolves hanging about. Werewolves mostly outside of cities and hate vampires. Everyone leaves mages alone. There are human hunters that know of vampires and try to hunt them down.

Vampires have special powers called disciplines. Each clan has 3 they are very good at but can learn others. Disciplines can include super speed, controlling peoples minds, using shadows as weapons, a form of magic, strength, shape changing etc... you will also have normal abilities and skills that you can increase.

The game will be very political. Prestige is important to vampires, each city is led by a prince. A vampire that will lead the city on behalf of the camarilla. They have archons (basically sherrifs) who enforce their rules. But most manueverings by vampires would be non violent. Basically a house of cards with fangs. Vampires (or kindred as they refer to themselves), have influence of different parts of society. Ventrue clan will probably have influence over politics, while the toreador will have influence over the arts, while brujah might run a street gang or two.

Be careful with what you do with your xp. This is not a game where you can max out stats. Nowhere close.

Nothing like BioShock in my opinion. VTMB is much, much closer to the original Deus Ex and, to some extend, System Shock 2 (which spawned BioShock).

Like DE, Bloodlines is immersive and story-focused. It also has hubs with quests and side-missions that you can complete however you wish (stealth non-lethal route or melee your way out route).

I would love to play the first one, but I don't have a PC. Hopefully they'll re-release it to tie-in with the sequel.

Always watch a lets play on youtube to get a feel for it. Story is great, game was buggy when it came out.

A 30-minute demo was shown.

Vampire: The Masquerade—Bloodlines 2 revives and expands the long-lost cult RPG series | PC Gamer

Choices immediately present themselves in the form of which powers you want to begin your new undead life with, and in the demo they're shown both as ways to navigate the world and as tools for combat. Telekinesis lets you manipulate objects without touching them, useful for everything from moving an obstacle that's holding a door shut to yanking a weapon out of an enemy's hand. Turning to mist will allow you to pass through pipes and vents, and will also let you choke enemies by filling their lungs with fog. Another power lets you flutter through the air on wings while accompanied by a swarm of bats. You get to test out all these powers before having to choose which you'd like to acquire.

Another choice you'll have to make is which vampire clan to align with, though unlike the original Bloodlines this decision comes a bit later in the game, so you'll have a chance to familiarize yourself with the different groups and what they stand for. The developers didn't want to talk specifically about the clans during the demo, only saying they'd reveal more when the game is closer to release. Interestingly enough, more clans will be added to Bloodlines 2 after the game is released.

"The one thing we can say, we will have a good amount of clans in the main game that are really interesting, but we'll support it with more clans after launch," said Christian Schlütter, lead producer at Paradox. "And one thing that you need to write down is that every clan that we release later on will be free. We will never charge you for any clan."

Can't wait for gameplay footage.

An unofficial patch just released few days ago. Time for me to re-install it.

The original game was essentially Deus Ex with Vampires. From everything I've read thus far especially with the contextual third person actions, this sounds like it's going to be Deus Ex Human Revolution with Vampires which is an instant buy for me.

Do we know if this will be released on multiple platforms or just pc?

I believe the announcement confirmed multi-platform.

Great. Owned pc's for years but still can't play games with keyboard and mouse. Just use it for strategy and top down rpg's.

What stops you from using a PlayStation or Xbox controller? I'm a K+M guy through and through but for some specific games I whip out my XB1 controller.

Heck, you can even play with the Switch Pro controller if you want.
