"Veep" starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus on HBO

I liked the finale. It was fun to see the flashbacks. I wish we got to see Kent in one of them considering the facts that he was Selena's once nemesis and that Gary Cole is the underrated gem of this show.

You gotta think at this point that they are setting up for the end game and that the end game is going to be Jonah winning the primary against Selena and Selena becoming his VP.

I wonder if Amy is scamming Dan? Didn't Catherine's doctor tell him that he is impotent?

Also, Selena was ice cold in this episode. Throwing Amy under the bus for the library, dumping Jaffar, lying about Catherine being mentally ill, firing Mike for Leon West. Just ice cold.

She was indeed, and I imagine that's what a lot of Tumblr posters have been picking up on all season in order to back up their "Everyone on this show is so much more nasty to eachother now" whining rants. The only problem is, virtually every character but Selina is the same as they've always been, and Selina-- someone who was never particularly warm to begin with-- now has the added chip on her shoulder of being d***ed out of the White House. Of course she's nastier now. That's not a new showrunner not "getting" the show. It's character development. Not development in a positive direction, mind you, but development nonetheless.

Yeah...I'm not sure what people are getting worked up about. Do they forget that in the 7th episode of the show's run, way back in the first season, Selena more or less threatened to fire Amy and blackmailed her into publicly lying about having a miscarriage to cover for Selena? Selena has always been a terrible person. People on Tumblr who are angry that her characterization is not consistent with their fan fiction ought to get over it and try actually watching the show. Selena took it to new levels this season, but she has been, throughout the show's run, a monster.

Selina:''what room is this Katherine?, When did we build an Indian casino gift shop'' ?
Katherine: ''It's the nursery''
Selina:'' Seriously? well where are the toys? or is the baby going to play chess against death''

:lmao:

Selina and Gary's first meeting was perfect. :funny:

I legit felt bad during her breakup with Jaffar though.

That was definitely my favorite line of the night.

Great finale, loved the flashbacks. I also don't get the complaints - Selina's always been a monster and none of these people have ever exactly been role models.

I too am curious what's going on with Dan and Amy. Amy scamming him seems slightly out of character for her, so I think Dan's recent diagnosis is just what caused him to throw caution to the wind, but he's actually just got low motility or something.

Marjorie's legit excitement over the baby gift cracked me up.

Disappointed uncle Jeff was not in finale but it was still very funny, my God Andrew is the worst hopefully before series is over something horrible happens to him

Gary will probably carry out a hit on him.

Well, all good things must come to an end, and for Veep, that end is Season 7. Ideally, the show could've ended with Selina losing the Presidency at the end of Season 5, but here we are.

Veep, HBO's acclaimed comedy, Emmy powerhouse and arguably the funniest comedy on television, will end its run with a final seventh season in 2018.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus just called to tell me the news, and I just told her she's killing me. But it's clear that she and fellow executive producer David Mandel thought long and hard about when it would be right to say goodbye — next season? One after that? — and they've let the story dictate a finale they could feel good about.

"It became clear that this season should be the last season," Louis-Dreyfus says. "We don't want to repeat ourselves or wear out our welcome. The story has a finality to it that feels end-of-series."

I'm glad we got the post-Presidency seasons, though. Seven seasons sounds just right to me. Oh how I'll miss it, though.

This feels like the right time to end Veep. Go out on a high note. Plus Selena's arc is coming to an end. Losing the Presidency to Jonah, as I'd imagine she inevitably will, is such a perfect and full circle story for this character.

Still, next year is going to be rough for HBO. Losing both their biggest drama and their biggest comedy in the same year. Ouch.

Awful. I hope she pulls through.

Aw man, hope they caught it early enough to give her the best chances.

Selina will say much worse about it I'm sure, lol.

Curious how, if at all, Mike makes his way back onto Team Selina after getting replaced by Leon.

Richard working on both Jonah and Selina's campaigns, Jonah hooked up with a relative, the constant talk of school shootings + thoughts and prayers, Veep was back in full force. I can't wait for Selina's presidential run to end in failure. I had thought that maybe Jonah would somehow stumble his way into the White House- and he still could- but with that end curveball that Tom James will run, I think he's got a real shot, too. Who wouldn't want a world where Hugh Laurie was the leader of the free world?

Also, if I had to pick a favorite line, it's definitely Kent saying "Praise the rational equivalent of Jesus."

Blue is the Most Annoying Color

:lmao:

Also, I didn't realize until looking it up, but I didn't realize that the final season would have a shorter episode run, with this only being seven episodes as opposed to 10.
