People who are going to commit crimes like this will find a way to obtain the means to do so. Regardless of what kind of laws we put in place to prohibit guns and other things. I always knew this was going to happen eventually. Las Vegas is a tourist trap, full of crowds and bustling activity and an easy target to attack people in good numbers. It sucks...but i'm not shocked it happened. Maybe surprised its happened tonight...but this was always going to happen. And it'll happen again too, these kind of attacks aren't going anywhere.

So why is United States the only country that has this type of mass killing?

I'm very interested in what the motive was. Shouldn't take long for law enforcement to figure it out. I agree with Lighthouse as well. This horrible act will change nothing, 50 lives taken, and there won't even be a single rudimentary faint positive change, just the more of the same. This was some pretty horrible news to wake up to. I hope he families of these victims will find some way to deal with this.

It was almost certainly a weapon to which no civilian should have access. From all of the descriptions, the firing went on for an extended period of time from a "military style" (according to police) weapon.

My prayers for Vegas. The scene sounds like something out of a nightmare.

The sounds of the shooting were so rapid and prolonged that I saw arguments that the gunfire sounds in the videos were actually helicopter noises.

I highly doubt that old white guy was an Antifa member, most likely that's the narrative being pushed by the right. This screams ex-military, he positioned himself on top of an adjacent building firing down into a crowd. Even without an automatic weapon he would have done major damage.

The response time was actually very quick considering the factors. The shooter knew what he was doing and wanted to cause as much damage as possible. Horrifying events for sure, but as somebody else already noted nothing was done when school children were murdered so this will be no different unfortunately.

I saw a lot of people in the early morning hours jumping to blame Muslims for this attack on Twitter. I made a simple statement that there was no evidence of Muslim involvement and my notifications lit up with people telling me that I was wrong and shouting about ISIS. Now they make no further comments or outright delete what they said last night.

Nothing concrete as to a motive, no known affiliations to terror groups, no prior crimes. Hopefully when they raid his house they'll get better information.
