These are taken from a Wizard article featuring the artist "Cho" talking about The Mighty Avengers.

Here's the article: http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/wizard/001008680.cfm

No, these are the only two sketches they featured. Although a lot of people are saying they like the return of the ape-like Beast. It seems more fitting towards the character, than a cat.

Although cats are agile, and intelligent ape-man seems more logical than an intelligent cat-man. And even though I liked the Sage transformation concept, the feline characteristics didn't make sense.

i agree with him on turning beast back to his ape like look. the cat mutation was just dumb. his head resembled a lion.

i love the art.

I'm glad he's starting to resemble a chimpanzee of some sorts. It's a new look, and it kind of falls along that fine evolutionary line of mutation. Not to say he should look like a neanderthal on his next transformation, but this is probably the best representation of what Beast should look like, hands down.

great art and i would love to have good old gorilla beast back, one that fights battles and makes fun of everyone on the team in witty ways so they dont get it.

I got to admit, i'm not the biggest fan of Cho's beast. Although, I do love ape-beast. Cho's beast looks too primal and angry in that sketch (too wolverine-like?) and not at all intelligent.

I think there were artists that made cat-beast look cool, and I didn't completely hate the idea or the reinvention.

In my mind, the best beast for me was Joe Mad!'s beast, he was brutal and intelligent and unique and pretty too look at all a the same time.

Problem is, these artists were rare. For every artist that could make cat-Beats look cool, there were about 5 who'd make him look terrible. Quitely and Larocca could draw it, but Cassaday's is disappointing, and don't even get me started on Calero.

I actually like his the best.

I agree with that not everyone draws a great cat beast, but I honestly think that has more to do with certian artists trying to put their own unique "imprint" on the character. I liked Ape beast too but he looked a bit too much like wolverine for my taste in that form. Maybe if they gave him more ape like facial features I'd be more for it...But I still like cat beast when drawn correctly.

Hmm... i dunno. This just seems like a step backwards.. which I know is what marvel does best these days but still...

Beast changed in to a different look. The writers should acknowlege that and work with that. I think its lame when people have to keep retconning everything that they don't particularly like very much.

Im not entirely sure Beast will even be in the comic. Its even got colosus there. You cant have Wolverine, Colosus AND beast all move over to the Avengers. Thats a bit too much X-Men overkill surely? I think theyre just pictures from his sketchbook.

Worked for the Defenders with Beast, Angel, and Iceman. Of course, they had left the X-Men at the time.

I don't like how Marvel keeps ignoring the fact that most people are fed up with Beast's catlook. I agree on how the catlook just doesn't suit him.:down

Well i like it, and you can't really talk on behalf of the majority, as even the people on forums are a small percentage of those buying comics. You really think that marvel wouldnt have changed his look back a LONG time ago if they thought they could sell more comics?

I really liked the lion beast.. back when he was drawn by Quietly. The thing with the Beast look is he can look incredibly ferocious and animal like when he needs to be... but then at other times he can look like a very intelligent. elegant and gentle creature.

I think all of the X-Men artists just need a sheet of "How to Draw Cat-Beast". theyre all profesional artists, i don't see why they all make him look so radically different. I think they need the editors to just say to some people "NO.. he DOESNT look like that!! DO it again!!"

With all the physical mutations Beast has undergone, his cellular structure should start degenerating or something. There has to be a point beyond which the body just breaks down.

Healing factor.

You're kidding, right? Please tell me that's a joke.

..........................

Son of a *****. If he regenerates from a skeleton someday, I'm going to ****ing kill somebody.

He did that already! He survived Cassandra Nova's attack on Genosha! Where have you been?

Erm...Beast wasn't on Genosha when Cassie attacked it. Emma was, though.

If you didint get that sarcasm, there must be something wrong with you

It's the whole reason he became a cat. Remember X-Treme X-Men? Psylocke died, but Beast was critically wounded. Sage sensed that Hank's next mutation (cat-Beast) would have advanced healing abilities, so she jump-started his secondary* mutation to save his life.

*By the way, does anyone else find it strange that we're calling cat-Beast a secondary mutation? Isn't it more of a tertiary mutation?
