Wizard caught up with David Goyer at Wizard World Chicago and asked him about Magneto, the "X-Men" spinoff he's writing and directing:

"We're scouting and budgeting now. It's the origins of the X-Men with Magneto and Charles Xavier. We've done some scouts and it mostly takes place in Europe and Argentina. We're doing budgets and we're sort of halfway crewed up, and so that'll be the big question: whether we can bring it in for a price. But that's all I can say."

Origins of the X-Men sounds interesting.

I like the Origins name.

The way he said its the Origins of the X-men with Magneto and Charles.

I hope we will get to see how the school started with cyclops, jean, etc.

Great news that this project is proceeding. Sounds like it should be called X-Men: Origins rather than Magneto.

Cool... Europe and Argentina.

It'd be great to see Beast appear in it with Storm, Jean and Cyclops. They could all be in similar style X uniform to Beast in X3. It'd be a nice nod to continuity.

This sounds pretty cool :)

I doubt it will have many of the X-Men, otherwise they might as well just do another X-Men movie.

Maybe at the end we will see some young versions of Storm, Jean and Cyclops.

^ Yeah, if the X-Men are to be in the movie, it will probably be at the end, while the rest of the movie focuses on the origin and possible falling out between Magneto and Xavier?

With all of that, I wonder how long this movie will be?

Knowing FOX it wont be too long. I want to know the plot details and characters that will be involved before I know the running time. I'd say between 90 mins - 120 mins. But that just guessing based on previous FOX movies.

X3 was 104
X2 was 133
X1 was 104

Goyer's longest film was 113 and that was Blade Trinity.

Argentina! :wow:

Dude, I soooo hope the do some of the filming here!

Sounds great... Argentina is a great choice because...
many Nazi scientists and war criminals fled there after the end of the Second World War, attracted by the similarities of its military government, and a lot of Nazi loot (art treasures, gems and gold) ended up there. That's obviously where Magneto would go to destroy those who destroyed his family. The relocation programme for getting Nazis to South America is now known to have been co-ordinated by Eva Peron ('Evita')

I hope McKellen and/or Stewart make appearances in this movie.

I think they will. Maybe for cameos or flashback scenes.

Flash forward or flashback? I dont know :D

Good news! I'm really hoping they name this 'X-Men Origins: Magneto', along with the Wolverine spin-off.

Nice to hear they're scouting and coming up with the budget

I hope its just called X-men Origins. I dont want it to center on just one mutant. I think it will follow Eric mostly from the time he left the concentration camps, to his relationship with Charles. Then hopefully introduce the original xmen team. and then the demise of Eric and Charles relationship with him parting with mystique and charles with the other xmen (jean, scott, beast,)

Having the X-Men name is already good to me too. Many people remember the name X-Men but not everyone remembers the name Magneto. "X-Men Origins: Magneto" is a great title imo too.

I'm with you on this, in fact I said so back when we found out the names wolverineorigins.com and magnetoorigins.com re-directed to the fox home page.

Seriously? But there's that great musical about her. I'm so disillusioned. :csad:

that's not proved.

But it is well known the sympathy of her husband, Juan Domingo Peron (who was the president of Argentina), for Mussolini and Franco.
