So I saw a theory floating around that Vision's yellow head stone could potentially be an Infinity Stone that gives him sentience. So perhaps either the Mind or Soul stone?

Given that the Avengers recover the Sceptre, and its possibly a stone itself, what if Ultron smashes it open to reveal the yellow Mind stone within...? Just a thought :)

I don't like this theory the same reason I don't like the theory that Banner and Stark reprogramme him.

Vision should turn on his own, his own free will and thinking. If he is given a soul by the soul gem, or he is reprogrammed that just isn't the same effect, for me at least.

Vision's Headstone
"Here lies Vision - He didn't see it coming"

Well he's definitely not turning on his own. It seems that has already been confirmed. Banner and Stark reprogramming him isn't really a theory. It's stated in an official character description.

As far as the jewel, no idea. Probably not an infinity stone. Seeing as the mind stone is probably what brings Ultron to life, vision's stone (IF it is one) has got to be soul.

It's probably going to just be a power source though or something found among chitauri wreckage.
Though if it is the soul gem, it makes sense that it would give this android an actual living soul. Making him the keeper instead of Adam Warlock.
But this idea suggests that Vision would need the gem to exist, so when Thanos fills the gauntlet, Vision would essentially turn back off.
So it's probably just a jewel. But I would like if they could work out it being a stone

Maybe it's the one stone Thanos doesn't get; "save the android, save the everything" :D

I don't believe random bios for toys to be honest. If it happens I won't cry, but I will know his turn could have been better

My money is on it being the Soul gem. It shimmers like the other gems when compared to what was shown in Guardiansr. Also, it would make sense that Stark uses that to give Vision autonomy from Ultron, given that Ultron will probably have control over so many important machines/networks that it would be next to impossible for Stark to create his own machine that can't be corrupted without some additional help. Giving a machine it's own soul seems like it would fix the issue.

The question is...how does Stark get his hands on it. Give that one shot in the trailer of him holding Loki's staff from the first Avengers, which holds what's believed to be the Mind gem, that may help him find it somehow.

In any case I can't wait to find out for sure!

I'm starting to think that it's the use of the Mind Gem in Loki's scepter which may be the thing that brings Ultron and Vision to life as thinking, sentient beings beyond say what J.A.R.V.I.S. is. But I think i'd prefer for Vision's gem on his forehead to just be what it is in the comics and not the Soul Gem. Though I won't throw a fit if they go that way.

The issue with the soul gem though is where did it come from?

I don't think we've seen it yet. Doesn't Adam Warlock usually have it?

So we'll probably see it in GotG2.

Why does everything have to be an infinity stone?

It can't just be his solar powered gem from the comics? Geez

I really dont think theyre gonna tie in yet another Infinity stone to the Avengers. They had the Tesseract, that was enough. They should let some other heroes deal with some stones now.

I don't think anyone genuinely believes it is it. It's just something to talk about, and play "what if" to pass the time, cause it may be cool to some if it was.

^My point exactly.

Lol really? Just a few posts ago you said you are starting to think it's the mind gem that brings Vision to life

That's not the same thing as re-purposing something that would already need to exist(Vision's gem in this instance as it's part of who he is in the comics) and taking the easy road by simplifying it into a Soul Gem so as to just check another Infinity Stone off the list just for the sake of expediency. My suggestion was simply to use what they already had(the mind gem, in their possession and Tony clearly using it for something in the trailer) as a means of answering the obvious question as to what makes Vision or Ultron so special as AI's since we already have JARVIS so in this world AI's aren't that unique. Well they can just have it be that JARVIS still technically isn't alive as he has no free will, which could be something given to Ultron and Vision by virtue of this otherworldly, powerful, alien artifact in the form of the Mind Gem.

To sum up, I think the former is overly lazy(and kind of wasteful) and the latter is using what you already have efficiently and with some cleverness to it. The former requires using up another Infinity Stone needlessly while the latter just uses what's already at hand.

Here are a list of all the known Infinity Gems and their colors.
The Infinity Gems are also known as the Soul Gems. But the actual "Soul" gem is GREEN, and NOT YELLOW.

Soul Gem: Green

Allows the user to steal, control, manipulate and alter souls, living or dead, and is the gateway to an idyllic pocket universe that is much like heaven. It also has the ability to steal the powers and abilities of others, which is why people argue that this gem is more powerful than the other gems. The Soul Gem is sentient and has a hunger for souls. It is often considered to be the most dangerous and corrupt of all the gems. Mastery of the gem would allow the user to control all life in the universe.

Time Gem: Orange

Allows the user total control over the past, present and future. Allows time travel, can age and de-age beings and also be used as a weapon by trapping enemies or entire universes in unending loops of time. Also at full potential grants Omniscience.

Space Gem: Purple

Allows the user to exist in any or all locations, move any object anywhere throughout reality and warp or rearrange space. At full potential it grants Omnipresence.

Mind Gem: Blue

Allows the user to greatly strengthen and enhance mental and psionic power and access the thoughts and dreams of other beings. Backed by the Power Gem, the Mind Gem can access all minds in existence simultaneously. When searching for it, the Grandmaster apparently discovered that the Mind Gem was the manifestation of the universal subconscious.

Reality Gem: Yellow

Allows the user to fulfill wishes, even if the wish is in direct contradiction with scientific laws. Occasionally stated to be the most 'powerful' of the Gems if wielded without the other Gems to keep its reality-altering powers from accidentally surging out of control. During the storyline where The Hood had control of the object, it at one point rapidly cycled through multiple alternative universes (apparently showing its ability to not only control reality, but travel to and through different realities as well).

Power Gem: Red

Accesses all power and energy that ever has or will exist, and can boost the other gems' effects. Allows the user to duplicate almost any physical superhuman ability and grants nigh Omnipotence. It also grants the possessor the potential to manipulate all forms of energy for virtually any effect. However, nearly all who have possessed the Power Gem singularly have used it to only enhance themselves physically.

Additional Gems

Ego Gem: Gold

The Ego Gem contains the consciousness of the cosmic entity Nemesis, which when united with the other gems reforms the character. This gem is found in the Ultraverse when the Asgardian god Loki attempts to steal the other gems. It has never been seen outside its initial appearance except for the Marvel Super Hero Squad: The Infinity Gauntlet video game and The Super Hero Squad Show where it is known as the Infinity Sword.

Rhythm Gem: Pink

In the Marvel Super Hero Squad universe and related media, a seventh "Rhythm Gem" exists. The acquisition of the Infinity Gems is the main focus of The Super Hero Squad Show's second season as well as the Marvel Super Hero Squad: The Infinity Gauntlet video game. The Rhythm Gem was revealed to be a ploy made by Loki.

I've got to say, though I don't want it to be the soul gem for the reasons I mentioned earlier, thinking about it if, Ultron gave Vision the soul gem in order that Vision can become his perfect 'Vision' but then giving him a soul leads to Vision realising the truth about Ultron, then I can totally buy that.

However it still stands how would Ultron know about the inifnity stones, or how would the Avengers know about the soul gem. Even Thor hadn't really heard of the stones until recently and then he wasn't exactly told what each stone does.

The only character in the film's who would know anything about infinity stones would be Thor. His people left the tesseract on earth centuries ago. Sif and Volstagg knew what infinity stones were when they delivered the Aether to The Collector.

It's said in a recent interview with Hemsworth that Thor leaves Earth and retrieves something from another realm that's of great use to them. My theory, is that Ultron corrupts Vision. Thor goes off into another realm and retrieves the soul gem which allows Vision to override Ultron's programming.

This makes a lot of sense if what made Ultron self-aware is Loki's scepter. Loki's scepter is the mind gem. It gives him a cold, calculating mind, where the soul gem gives Vision a warm and compassionate soul.

Reminder about The infinity stone colors: Theyre different in the MCU than in the comics

I still think that the Vision won't have a gem of any sorts.
If Tony creates him to fight Ultron, he probably just made the "gem" to make him "look cool".

I think Ultron initially creates him, then Tony and Bruce get him and modify JARVIS to make him a good guy.

One of the complaints about the theory of Loki's scepter being the Mind Gem is that it is the same color as the Space Gem (the Tesseract). What if the actual Mind Stone is INSIDE the Scepter (in the glowing orb) and it's actually yellow? In the same way the Power Gem was hidden inside a silver sphere?

Yeah, I misread your initial post. I thought I fixed it, but evidently not :woot:
I'm sorry if I came off rude, wasn't trying to be.

I think Ultron initially creates him, gets destroyed by Thor then Tony and Bruce get him and modify JARVIS to make him a good guy.

Fixed for ya ;)
