The CW is closing out the Winter 2015 TCA's today and one interesting tidbit coming out of the Arrow panel is that Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim is currently developing a new animated superhero show that will be set in the same world as Stephen Amell's Arrow and Grant Gustin's Flash. Will this animated series serve as a precursor to the live-action introduction of Vixen to the DCTV universe?

As a fan of both DC Animation stuff and The CW DC shows, this pleases me greatly!

Cool, looks like Phil Bourassa is designing! I hope they cast a voice actress who can portray her in live-action. (Also, maybe the Seed can bring back Young Justice?)

So, the CW finally found a way to suck me in at last.

*sniff* Bastards!

Between this and the Bruce Timm Machinima project... it looks like WB and DC are finally moving away from Cartoon Network a little bit.

Let's hope these online ventures work out. It's weird that they'd go with Vixen... but at least no one can say WB aren't being experimental.

Cannon, that answers why Flash has his costume on, if for any reason other than to take advantage of the show success.

Like I said in the other thread, this is like the last thing I was expecting - having an animated series included in the CW universe. Looking forward to seeing how well they mix together.

You don't watch the Flash? Despite its flaws, the show is not bad. And if they make a live action Vixen (from the cartoon continuity) to guest star in Arrow/Flash, you'll have to watch more CW! :oldrazz:

I will be pleased if I end up liking what they produce. I love Vixen and have always thought that she has major solo potential if done right.

This I am looking forward. Man, DC is on a roll with these TV projects!!

+Guggenheim refers to the Vixen animated series as a spinoff, that will feature characters that currently appear on both Arrow and The Flash. Guggenheim also adds that the series will be a 6-part origin story for Vixen.

+One fun scene Guggenheim teased was that Oliver (Stephen Amell) will find out that Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) kissed Barry (Grant Gusting) in the animated series. Guggenheim says fans have been asking him for quite sometime whether Oliver would ever find out about that.

+Vixen will have a "big magic component"; something not previously explored on either Arrow or Flash.

+The Vixen animated series will be set in Detroit as a reference to the characters Justice League Detroit comic book roots.

+Writers Keto Shimizu and Brian Ford Sullivan are working on the series with Guggenheim.

+Here's what Guggenheim had to say about the animated series serving as a backdoor pilot of sorts for a live-action introduction of Vixen on Flash or Arrow. "We always say "never say never," and if the character resonates with people, that would be wonderful. I would love to be in a position where CW said to us, "Hey, we want a 'Vixen' live-action show." That'd be wonderful. We'll have to sort of see how things play out. But our goal really is to produce the highest-quality animated series. We want people to come to this who don't normally watch an animated show. We really want fans of "The Flash" and fans of "Arrow" to go to CW Seed. We really tried to approach it the same way we approach a pilot."

+As far as the characters from the live-action shows voicing their animated counterparts in Vixen, Guggenheim says many of the actors are just finding out about the project for the first time but the response from them has been encouraging so "all signs are good".

Hopefully, Vixen does eventually make her way over to the live-action Arrow and Flash TV shows. With Katana, Black Canary, Huntress, Speedy and even Felicity Smoak, Arrow is definitely making it possible for The CW to have a Birds of Prey spinoff.

Get Aisha Tyler to voice Vixen AND appear live action on FLASH and ARROW at some point. BOOM.

I like Aisha, but not as Vixen, especially since everyone is younger in this universe and she is to old even if she looks great.

I wouldn't mind, but I'm sad I can't really think of any actresses that I think could play her. Hell just give it to Naya Rivera!

joking, she would look horrible with a pixie cut.

I'm surprised they aren't masking her up, or is she suppose to be the first "out" superhero?

I don't think I'd be able to listen to her speak and not think of Lana Kane.

Well, she wouldn't be saying all the catchphrases and have a totally different tone. Anyway, I'd rather another show use Tyler than listening to the same handful of the same male and female voice talent that gets recycled again and again in most U.S. animated fare.

what's Jessica Lucas up to nowadays?

Nothing. Every show she is part of gets cancelled.

That wouldn't make much of a difference. Her voice is very recognizable.

Don't get me wrong: they could do a lot worse. Tyler just isn't my first choice.

Hell, maybe they should've saved Cynthia Addai-Robinson for Vixen instead of Waller.

I hope the Vixen show does well and we get a live-action version of her on Flash and/or Arrow.

Huh, outta nowheres.

Dammit that's a good idea.

Its funny because Amanda basically looks like Vixen in the new52. Same hair style and everything.

That and she is 25% black.

I would suggest Aja Naomi King (who was on a CW show with Justin Hartley a couple of years ago) if she ever has free time from How To Get Away With Murder.

Taylor Paige has the look and a dance background, but her acting in Hit The Floor leaves a bit to be desired
