I don't think WB has to have JL in 2009. The studio has Watchmen that year. Its not the end of the world is they don't do another superhero in 2009 IMO. My feeling is they ar shooting for 2010. I honestly can't see how WB could cast JL in 6 or 8 weeks.

Warners doesn't need 2009 as much as you think Excel. Warners isn't a studio about to go bankrupt. They aren't going to fall under if they go one summer without a huge block buster. Especially considering next year will be huge for them with Harry Potter, Batman, Where the Wild Things Are, Speed Racer, 10,000 B.C., and Get Smart.

Not to mention, if they don't book Superman for Summer 2009, they can still have a tent pole in the form of a children's film. Happy Feet was one of their most profitable movies of the past 5 years pulling in nearly 300 million in straight profit. Warners doesn't need a 2009 super hero movie as much as you'd like to make it seem Excel.

Hard to predict BO. I think Watchmen has potential to turn into WB's biggest money making franchise after HP.

Yes its second hand info. just from what i'm hearing from those in the know here, the strike has speeded things up.

ok correct me if i am wrong but wasnt harry potter popular to the whole world because of the books? i thought that teh reason why the movies made so much money was because the book was popular and becasue the movies were good adaptations.

guys theres a reason watchmen is being released in MARCH and not summer...it could do huge ala 300, but they dont expect it to. They dont have 1 film they can count on to be a big 200 million dollar film and unless they reboot the matrix franchise or something, itll have to be a superman film.

Universal was in the same position back in 74 and that is when Jaws got put into production with only half a script. These things happen from time to time. However, I think the WB has learned, like other studios, what happened the last time this thing came up.

Well Man of Steel is supposed to come out in 2009 if approved so they should make an announcement on whether or not they decide to make it or Justice League of America.

I don't think the WB is going to rush anything. Hell, they could put Shazam in the summer 09 spot and just say f--- it. Save the 175 mil and do JL in 2010.

No, no they couldnt do that. Not if they wanted to do well like they always do. At this point...from a marketing standpoint....and from a box office stand point...

Justice League for May 15th, 2009.

More than likely would be the movie event of May, and probably the summer. MOS would have to go July, not May. JL is just a far bigger risk...**** it up and you dont just lose superman franchises...you potentially lose all the characters involved, thats why Batman needs to get the hell outta there. That said...they still have Batmanin the script...Nolan and Bale made it pretty clear they wont be involved yesterday....and if they try and recast Batman the uproar from the internet would be among the biggest ever...while MOS is already cast, crewed, ect.

I agree. WB doesn't need a superhero film in summer 2009. Do a sequel to happy Feet or Wedding Crashers. The studio has potential summer tentpoles besides superhero films.
