Sequels Want to know why we'll know soon???

If its true Singer is pitching the script in the next few weeks I guess WB could announce their decision by mid September? IMO they've made up their mind already. WB is letting MOS spin in the wind. It raises doubts about it. If WB goes with MOS I think they've shot themselves in the foot and hurt its perception in how they've acted dis-interested in it. My feeling is they pass on Singer and Superman and go with JL and the other heros.

Give bale 10 million, and he will do it...
Then again Routh would do it for the same amount that he got paid on SR because nobody really is knockin down his door to do it.

I think they could go cheap on the rest of the cast but they have to have Bale in there, and the right person playing Superman.

I doubt that they will give Routh that chance after the failure that was SR, and wouldn't be shocked if the WB turned to Tom Welling, James Caviezel or Henry Cavil for the role.

Would be neat to continue Welling in the role after Smallville ends it's run on tv. Plus it would allow the fans who want it the chance to see him become Superman! Suit, and all.

I think the purpose of JL is to launch the other heros into their own franchises. Not to relaunch Superman. That's why I think the casting effort and dollars will go to finding actors for the other roles. WB is probably going to take the time and money to find the perfect WW, GL and others. Actors who can succed in their own franchises after JL. It would be nice to see a talent like Cavill come in. I don't see Superman being WB's priority in JL. The easy and cheap thing will be to use Routh or pick a guy from the audition tapes. It depends also I think on how big a role Superman has in JL. It sounds like he is scaled back in the second draft. If he contiunes to be scaled back the casting for Supes becomes less important anyway IMO.

Neither Routh nor another SM movie has enough potential to be pressed into contract. Not with other, more bankable stars available.

Superman didn't draw audiences like WB wanted. One reason I think is the popularity isn't there compared to Spiderman or X-Men. If WB beleieves Superman doesn't have the financial potential they aren't going to do Superman. its not about if they have nostalgia for the character. To WB its about can the character make good money for them.

Actually from what is said, Welling is absolutely not in the running and right now Routh is the favorite because he's not going to be an expensive actor and he's apparently very co-operative with Warner Bros.

where did you hear that, just wondering cause I have heard differently.

p.s i have not some insider, so just wondering what people have heard

I feel bad for TE.....still with that particular thought in his head.

I will pray for you my brother. :)

WB is very happy with Routh and the way he handled Superman both in and out of the suit. WB's perception of Welling on the other hand is the exact opposite, Routh's Bizzaro if you will.

what did welling do that WB thinks like that?

i know that this is not the SV forum but i want to know it :woot:

Welling forgot to look, act, and sound the part...

Looks the part more then Routh who looks like a very cheap emo waterdown version of Chris Reeve. But a heck of a lot thinner....

Wouldn't shock me since Routh would be cheap because nobody really cared for him or his acting so his price tag hasn't gone up since nobody really has come knocking throwing money his way to star in some big blockbuster films after SR.

Welling would be ideal for a JLA movie since they have set up a "JLA" on Smallville... But the WB always screws it up so it will probably not be Welling, and Routh will get another chance to ruin another movie with his lame acting.

RIGHT! They are so happy that they have not offered him any other roles to Brandon in hopes to getting him more exposure so he's a bigger star once the sequel to SR comes out.

Im sure they are very happy with him, and hate Welling.... Sure hate the guy who's on the franchise that actually turns a profit, and makes your company money, and love the guy who can't make fans believe, and was in a movie that failed to turn a profit, and has had such negative buzz for years now!

haha where do you get your info!?

I think neither Routh nor Welling will be cast in JL. Does that mean WB doesn't like either? Of course not. its silly the debate IMO. I am not sure anyone but the WB board knows how the company feels about either actor. Outside that it seems like just speculation to me.

I agree 100% why don't we just let things play themself's out?

I also doubt that they will hire Routh or Welling... To be honest I think they will use a new actor, and re-start Superman.

I think transformers transformed everything. The formula is probably going to be copied by other studios wanting a 600 million cash in. I believe around 600 million WW is what WB was hoping for SR coincidentally.

Audiences seem to want eye candy, non-stop action and leave the Oscar worthy stuff for serious film genres. Too bad Transformers didn't come out before SR. WB seems to be taking a cue from Transformers. I think JL could be another HP for WB. If WB does it right and takes no risks. IMO Routh is a risk because of his association with SR. Even though he was one of the best things in SR. Welling is a risk because he is a TV star.

I can't see WB taking any chances at all with JL.

Huh? Transformers is already the 10000 copy of the same old formula.

lol...now this just a fun question, but what if Tom Welling played bizzaro.....you just gave me the idea when you said that about Welling

I'm wondering how the hell is anyone besides whiny fanboys gonna care if rouths superman in jl?

Despite Superman Returns' several flaws, Routh wasn't one of them. He did a great job as Superman.

Wait a minute, are you implying that Welling is a better actor than Routh?

Seriously WTF?

And a Justice League that has a roster of Clark Kent, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Bart Allen, and Cyborg really blows!

Ummm...Superman Returns DID make a profit, despite a very small and completely underwhelming one. The buzz is rather mixed, not negative. It's won several awards and is considered "Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes. And from what is said, Warner Bros. is very happy with Routh because he's apparently very co-operative with them from what Justice Bringer and Showtime have said, also he's cheap to boot too.

You don't always have to be new to be good or fun.

while tf was def. fun; it was hardly a good movie...self aware characters made it funny at the expense of seriousness and the story. It wouldnt work for superman, thats for sure.

and if routh was recast, the bad bzuz would be immense from the begining, from critics and fans. a small majority of yall are vocal about disliking him, but read the reviews thread or the critics reviews...routh was very well recieved.

ditching him would draw wb. major criticsm and they know this.

Honestly I don't think the general audiences know who Routh is. That is sad and its partly because he didn't get the lines or screentime he deserved in SR IMO. I really don't think many will notice if he is dropped or that WB will get any criticism for it.

I'm curious too, actually, since when did Showtime become a representative of Warner Bros.?

Because you know, I think there are enough people spewing bull crap around here pretending to be know it all's, you'd just be another 1 to add to the list.

well received, is the new he was passable. look the one think Routh did not do is take people minds of Christoper, might have been singers fault mostly but. You know what the guys is pretty much forgotten in the public eye. we can sit here and argue as much as we want but Routh is not know by the general audience

The matter that is most concerning for Routh is his lack of exposure. He has gotten nothing in direct relation to the role he played. doors did not open for him and that is not a good thing. As for welling, yes i am a big support and think he should be superman. but if the go with someone else it cool with me. Besides he is probably more kn ow than your boy wonder.

yes he will be he has not had a pay check in a year or two, comeon people. Like Welling did anything evil to WB other than make them money. At the least Routh should be pissed at Singer for giving him no lines and little exposure.

That's what was reported, I could care less whether WB loves Routh or hates Welling. I am not attached to either of them like some people are. It must suck to be blinded like that.
