Synopsis

After his partner is killed by "Rogue" (Li), the infamous assassin who has recently set off a bloody crime war between two rival Asian mobs, FBI agent Jack Crawford (Statham) starts a deadly game of cat and mouse to settle the score.

I guess so if you're not a fan of action cinema.......but for those of us that are this is the best duo in the industry right now and Li playing a bad guy again should be great to see plus Corey Yuen is directing the action

Oh, I'm a huge fan of action cinema. Just not a fan of martial artists/stunt guys that play the same roles over and over again in the same kind of generic story formulas.

Sure, some fight scenes are fun. But the films themselves are sometimes painful to watch.

I think Li and Statham are more than that,Li has always had it hard given that English is secondary for him but his acting in Hero(granted in Cantonese) and in the poor Unleashed was actually very good IMO and as an ice cold killer i think he will do well plus it isn't him playing the same old role as he hasn't been a bad guy onscreen for a decade
Statham plays a convincing badass but according to reviews from Crank he is getting better in the dramatic scenes

The story isn't original i agree but i like movies such as face off with two strong central characters as equals trying to outdo each other plus Yuen is amazing with gunfights and martial arts fights....as far as pure action movies go i wouldn't expect many better next year

you should seriously watch Unleashed............great directing,great drama,morgan freeman,great fight scenes(not your average action movie)

They act the same in pretty much every role they play. While they may be good martial artists, I can't say I think they're good actors. Add to that the fact that the stories are usually never interesting or original, and you have the reasons why these films are never smash hits.

No matter how awesome the action is, people want substance.

To the first part i totally disagree but each to their own

The second part is a rash generalization,as a fan of cinema i watch movies from all over and in all genres and that includes ones where there is a good guy a bad guy and lots of action,hell POTC2 had no substance and ppl seemed to want that

I agree with you on The One but if you watch Unleashed,Romeo Must Die and LW4 you see Li playing 3 very different characters

I've seen all the others you mentioned. And while his characters are different, his acting is not, and it's not impressive.

I disagree,in Romeo Must Die he was very good IMO and he got over massive presence in LW 4 which was the whole point of the role,compared to the wooden guys i grew up on in this genre (Arnie,Sly,Norris,Seagal,Van Damme) Li is De-niro lol

Wasn't the ONE...the first time these two teamed up in a movie....and Li was bad in that one too....Stratam got his ass kicked in that one though. I think it's payback time in this movie. LOL!!!

Seconded.

The only real downside to the one was Statham's accent. The story and acting weren't great, but passable. The effects and action were top notch. But Statham's attempt at a badass American accent was a total failure.

i used to love that movie the one. the action was so badass! especially the first scene with the evil li, when he kills alll those guards in the span of about 2 seconds, he kicks the one guy up in the air, kills a few more guys, then walks over and kicks the guy again before he lands!

i'm sure this movie'll be nothing like that, but it should still ought to be good.
