I caught that the name of the terrorist were the Ten Rings, but was there anything else I was suppose to catch--Is their leader going to become Manderian? He was playing with his ring

No, he wasn't.

Mandarin's proxy, Raza, was. He was the guy with the ring.

It's possible Mandarin was posing as Raza in the film, like Ra's did in Begins, but we won't be sure until the sequel is completed.

I think that was the allusion.
Good contemporary twist though!

I kind of doubt that. The Mandarin getting taken out so easily is hard to believe.

If Razza is Mandarin I will seriously ditch the sequel... I didn't expect to see him in person... I do think he'll have a significant role in the next one... sort of like the white suit guy in Matrix Reloaded or something. Maybe a little bigger than that. I don't think he'll be the main villain though.

I'd prefer to see the Mandarin in a third film, probably. Only for Stark to realise he's been orchestrating everything for so long

No way he was Mandarin, at first i thought maybe but then when Stane owned him with such ease i felt it definitely is not Mandarin, but one of his men.

SO who's gonna end up playing him... they can't use Jet Li at this point since its just such an obvious name... the Mortal Kombat guy is too old by now as well... any good veteran Asian actors in the pool that we might not know of?

yeah but this could be the begining or origin story of Manderian. Stane got the better of him, so what. It was Stane's time. Here is the facts :

His group is the "Ten Rings"

While monitering Stark, He is the one playing with a ring on his finger

If they didn't have big plans for him in upcoming movies why would they keep him alive? What purpose would he have still alive?

Stark comes back and ***** slaps his second in command and Stane leaves him alive as well.

I garuntee he is more then a generic terrorist leader.

Remember he is pretty pissed at what stark did to the side of his head. (perhaps that is a reaseon to grow his hair out.

Remember this post and respond with "your nuts" or "no way" but just watch. there is more to his charactor then meets the eye

They hinted at The Manderian presence in this movie

The name of the group the "Ten Rings"

The supposed leader of the "Ten Tings" had one of the rings on his finger.

I hope Manderian will be in the next movie or the 3rd, b/c the Ten Rings was associated with the movie.

I would like to see Mandarin as an insurgency leader. He orders the murders of Raza and the other leaders of the various Ten Rings cells (scattered throughout Asia) for disgracing his name and takes back the ten rings for himself (symbols of power, no real mystical abilities).

This provides for a nod to the comics, as well as a new modern take.

the manderian will diffently have something to do with this terrorist group. you don't just name them the ten rings on a whim. There is no way that when they do have manderian as the main villian that he is just a totally seperate entitiy from this group. I liket the last post. Maybe Raza is just one leader of a ten tribe faction. that would explain why he has one ring. Or maybe he is the manderian and that is but only the first ring he has in his possession

Anybody else catch and think that Obidiah's remark about technology being less advanced in the middle eastern part of the world will play into the of the next movie, with Mandarin.

I think we're all getting our wires crossed here. I believe originally Razza may have started out being the Mandarin, but when it was decided script wise that Obadiah would be the main villain it shifted the focus from Mandarin to Iron Monger. In essence for continuity's sake Razza just worked for the Mandarin.

Just because Jet is obvious doesn't mean he won't work. But if there has to be someone else, I may just pick Vincent Zhao - Only problem is that his english is still a little weak... Not that he can't speak it properly, he just doesn't have the accent.

Oh, and he'll need a haircut and some nice clothes :cwink:

Anyone else notice Raza had a ring on his ring finger and Stane had one on his pinky finger if i remember correctly. Didn't the Manderine collect rings at one point to replenish his supplies. Perhaps he will do something similar to what was posted earlier, but not just limited to the leaders of the Ten Rings. He could collect the rings worn by villians or important characters. Just a thought.

This is the spoiler section so I'm not going to mask my reply, but after Obadiah was blown to kingdom come unless Mandarin was wearing an asbestos laced suit of armor there's no way he could have collected Stane's ring from his finger.

I don't think Raza will become Mandarin. Maybe that was the original intention, but I think they'll go with someone new. There was one scene in the beginning when we're seeing Tony work on the armor in the cave through one of the video screens. It wasn't a grainy screen like from the security camera, but a clearer screen. For some reason, I felt that it was Mandarin watching him in that scene.

Yeah tons of Mandarin reference's, with the Ten Rings and their symbol being the biggest, was disappointed they did not have some of the others that were in the novelization.

Raza is definitely connected to Mandarin somehow, but he's definitely NOT Mandarin himself.
