No movie is absolutely flawless . . . . .that said this one should have been better.
Indeed !
should have been something like "return of the man of steel"
there 'd more punch to it." cause Superman returns sounds a little chessy and weak :(
you can tell a movie just by the title alone:o

No movie is flawless, but Batman Begins was pretty darn close. This movie was not worth the wait.
stop overating BB you nitwits .
there was some good acting , but it wasn't the batman part
I felt like he was overdoing it by trying to sound different when in bat costume .

i was watching Return of the King last weekend. My GOD what an epic. And yet all 3 of those movies together cost about $300 mil.
How on earth does one of those movies from that trilogy seem WAY bigger in scale and effects than SR. What in the name of arse did Singer Spend $200 million on? That dreadful 3D superman that looked fake as hell. The suit? The corn fields, medication?

Unbelievable.

perhaps they're lying about the cost
lots of them do that just to get people to see their movies
the third lord of the rings barely cost 100 millions and it seems huge to me .

i think they spend lots of money on the daily planet's decors and stuff and the football stadium

they could have easily duplicate a little crowd into hundreds of thousans of people , no fuss.

that's the benefit of shooting trilogies back to back to back. the savings cant be beat, you have a tighter storyline and everybody involved creatively in the project has a complete picture of what the franchise should be at the end of it all.

but you have to admit Wormy, the bulk of LOTR was shot and completed before yr 2000 was over. you have to consider inflation et al that affects how much things costs now (when SR was shot) versus 6 years ago. if LOTR was being made now it would not cost $300M, it will cost at least $500M, and that doesnt include the costs for pick-ups which had happened when FOTR was released.

You could be right. It would have seemed smart in hinesight but now the media are plugging the movie as a failure because it didn't reach it's 200mil(YET,domestic before DVD).
I wouldn't be surprised if it cost less. All I can say is...why did they build all that cool green screen harness stuff if they were going to use some bad CG closeups.
Why did they do CG close ups, it's beyond me. Same with the horrendous startwars prequels? Why did they make the close up clone troopers all CG?

You could be right about the money/inflation.
But what about sheer scale of the movies. return of the king has so many stunning kodak moments. It's kind of Peter jacksons style, pushing the storyboards to the limit.
Thats it! Peter jackson should direct Superman begins.
4 hours long?
Anyone? :)

^^ i'd say yes, but i already got pounded on when i supported a 3 hour Superman movie :o

besides, PJ has the annoying habbit of doing overly drawn out dramatic scenes.

I don't know... He's sort of fond of re-makes of classics himself... I didn't mind the story of king kong or the acting, or anything except the looooooooooooooong length. I don't think I'd make it through a 4 hour superman movie. I barely made it through Returns...

Oh God, don't remind me. ROTK was almost ruined for me because of all of the dramatic scenes drawn out in slow-motion. I really didn't care who died by the end of the film, since there simply was no punch to all the drama anymore. I also wanted to step into the screen and shove Frodo into the stupid boat so the movie would end, LOL.

Actually, according to Cinefex, that's what they did do. A crowd of 100 extras was used in previz and the rest, during the actual scene, were filled in via fx.

Artists populated empty stands, using a crowd simulation of 30 different animation routines, and programmed varieties of behavior as onlookers reacted to Superman's lowering the 777 into the stadium.

LMAO, I remember people at my cinema groaning because the movie did not seem to want to end.

It should have ended at the wedding or ceremony thing at the end. Screw the Lotr enthusiasts who'd be pissed if it didn't last another ten years.

Oh and back on topic, No I was waiting for something much better than what we got. I guess it's up to me to become a director and do superman the way I want it in my head... which is something like skycaptain. Ironically that's who'll probably be the villain in the next movie.

It's really weird how these connections are made. I wanted topher grace to be spider-man since Spidey 2 was in production... tobey didn't really impress me so I wanted a new actor.... now topher's eddie brock. Fascinating...

Was it worth the wait? Yes. Can i wait another 20 years for the next one? No. I want the next one as soon as possible. If it is even half of this one, it will be good times, good times indeed.

Yep, Peter Jackson would make a kick ass superman movie.

Most of it still had to do with the rotation of the head, which is a nitpick I've always had. It was still just a takeoff on Ringwood's original design, but the head turned a little bit more. During the "making of" I watched panned out shots of one of the fights and it didn't look any more mobile to me than the other batsuits. I thought the suit looked cool, but it still didn't allow them to showcase what Bats can really move like. I love BB, though, so I don't even know why I'm b******g about this. Sorry, man.:)

But, his head moves. No more "Bat"-turn. And I could find some pics that really show off his mobility. It's really more flexible than most people give it credit for. But, hey you liked the flick....cool with me.

As for Peter Jackson.....wasn't King Kong sort of received the same way as SR amongst audiences? Sort of mixed?

And, I've heard the thing is like 3 hours and some change. Sounds like an epic.

Jackson uses too much CG. I'd like Spielberg or Ridley Scott to make Superman but they'd never make a sequel to Singer's movie. They'd want to make it from scratch. Getting a new director that's not a studio hack would be very hard now because they have to follow the awfull Superman Returns and deal with all the baggage in the movie.

Superman Returns Sucked big fat donkey balls. It didnt' do anything to enhance the legacy of a fantastic character. All it did was destroy his character and make him a loser. An not just Superman...but everyone associated with him, including Mr Monopoly Luthor and Miss Non Congeniality Lois.

Was it worth the 30 year wait? HELL F****** NO!!!:supes:

If it weren't for those underlined parts^^. I would have actually taken you seriously. There are better ways to criticize a production without getting all offensive about it. One word. Civility. Doesn't take money. Just effort and willingness will suffice.

But Superman is a love story at the core centered around Kal/Clark's love for Lois....it's also a story about searchin for acceptance and devotion to family. I don't understand why this is hard to grasp or accept. Batman is a story about loss and revenge. Spiderman is a story about responsibility. XMEN is a story about overcoming obstacles and being left out because you're different. Hulk is a story about controlling inner demons and rage.

Despite the core story behind Superman he still whoops more ass than all others. In SR Superman performed almost every superfeat he's capable of.....not all, but almost all. In the next film it'll more action, more intensity, more "Superman", but at the core will be the love story.

Actually The core of superman was about world peace and an answer to Adolf Hitler and all those world pricks who stereotyped americans to be blond hair, blue eyed devils. Superman was created by two jews who needed to speak through art and hence forth superman, after the first evil genius idea, became the icon he is. Lois is just there to add on to the typical damsel in distress theme. This also make Superman very shallow of a movie. Most all his amazing saves or best scenes are to do with saving the girl theory. Batman is waaaay more complex than him and a girl. Burton's was too much around vickie vale, but you can have absolutely no female interest in the movie, and it will still be A BATMAN movie. Take Mary Jane from spidey, it changes everything. Take Lois from Superman, it changes everything. Blade and Batman are those guys who don't need a chick to carry along the character. The Punisher could have even done without Rebecca Romaijn in it.

The problem with the superman world is romance. Superheroes were created to fill a void of darkness in many peoples lives. Most of them created in the depression or depression recovery time period to boost moral. If we wanna see romance movies we go watch Titanic, Rome and Juliet, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and so on. The good thing with animes and japanese action movies is they don't disguise messages or ideals and ideas in movies.

If it's jackie chan kickin a$$ then it's jackie chan kickin a$$. They don't slap that other crap in. Watch any classic 'good' John Woo movie and you'll see that if the flick is about war, it's war. If the flick is about love, it's love. If it's about John Travolta and Nic Cage going at it then that's what it is simple and plain.

Superman is NOT!!! a soap opera, a story of Jesus, a Republican movement, An epic, a man who suffers inner demons and all that extra crap and what not. It's about an alien who lands on earth, raised by humans WITH morals (no bastard children), aquires a secret identity in order to live a normal life and protect mutual associates from reprisals, learns his place as a protector, uses his powers for good, and thwarts villany. THAT IS IT!!!!!!! Anything else doesn't belong here. Lois is just a damsel in distress to keep him on his toes and keep things interesting as in guy/girl stuff. People just read too deep into Lois and Clark's lives and killed the whole aspect of things.

It's about SUPERMAN...not Lois and Clark.

You know a superhero is done right when half the world can't remember his alternate identity

Hulk, Batman, Spawn, The Punisher, ironman, captain America. all these names I can go and ask most younger kids or older people and they would stumble through names till they get the right one. "Who's Ironman?"..."um...Bruce bann...oh wait that's Hulk right??!! or something..." The point made here is that those characters or movies they are in do very well to translate the MAIN character who is for example is BATMAN in Batman Begins. Not too many people care about wayne enterprises and his businesses and what not. We only all just care about Batman, his car, and his villains, don't care to remember his parent's names and what not. Superman can be cool, but currently he's not. They got us caring too much about Kal El and Clark Kent and not much about Supes himself, like "smallville", and it really doesn't add to the mythos, but takes away from it (I do like smallville by the way. Once we saw Bruce in the armor, it was a wrap for Wayne's life. batman had begun and nothing else mattered. Who cares about what he's thinking, who he loves, and him having affairs and bastard children. "it's not who I am underneath, but what I dooo that defines me". Too bad superman can't say the same huh?!

about Angelina as Catwoman in your sig...great Idea, but I think she would make a great vicki vale or something cause in reality...I would HATE catwoman in Nolan's world. She's too corny. It'll bring a romance that we really don't need in that universe. Vickie can be used to show how Bats only has one thing on his mind...JUSTICE!!! Anything else is a game.
