But Superman is a love story at the core centered around Kal/Clark's love for Lois....it's also a story about searchin for acceptance and devotion to family. I don't understand why this is hard to grasp or accept. Batman is a story about loss and revenge. Spiderman is a story about responsibility. XMEN is a story about overcoming obstacles and being left out because you're different. Hulk is a story about controlling inner demons and rage.
Despite the core story behind Superman he still whoops more ass than all others. In SR Superman performed almost every superfeat he's capable of.....not all, but almost all. In the next film it'll more action, more intensity, more "Superman", but at the core will be the love story.
Actually The core of superman was about world peace and an answer to Adolf Hitler and all those world pricks who stereotyped americans to be blond hair, blue eyed devils. Superman was created by two jews who needed to speak through art and hence forth superman, after the first evil genius idea, became the icon he is. Lois is just there to add on to the typical damsel in distress theme. This also make Superman very shallow of a movie. Most all his amazing saves or best scenes are to do with saving the girl theory. Batman is waaaay more complex than him and a girl. Burton's was too much around vickie vale, but you can have absolutely no female interest in the movie, and it will still be A BATMAN movie. Take Mary Jane from spidey, it changes everything. Take Lois from Superman, it changes everything. Blade and Batman are those guys who don't need a chick to carry along the character. The Punisher could have even done without Rebecca Romaijn in it.
The problem with the superman world is romance. Superheroes were created to fill a void of darkness in many peoples lives. Most of them created in the depression or depression recovery time period to boost moral. If we wanna see romance movies we go watch Titanic, Rome and Juliet, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and so on. The good thing with animes and japanese action movies is they don't disguise messages or ideals and ideas in movies.
If it's jackie chan kickin a$$ then it's jackie chan kickin a$$. They don't slap that other crap in. Watch any classic 'good' John Woo movie and you'll see that if the flick is about war, it's war. If the flick is about love, it's love. If it's about John Travolta and Nic Cage going at it then that's what it is simple and plain.
Superman is NOT!!! a soap opera, a story of Jesus, a Republican movement, An epic, a man who suffers inner demons and all that extra crap and what not. It's about an alien who lands on earth, raised by humans
WITH morals (no bastard children), aquires a secret identity in order to live a normal life and protect mutual associates from reprisals, learns his place as a protector, uses his powers for good, and thwarts villany. THAT IS IT!!!!!!! Anything else doesn't belong here. Lois is just a damsel in distress to keep him on his toes and keep things interesting as in guy/girl stuff. People just read too deep into Lois and Clark's lives and killed the whole aspect of things.
It's about SUPERMAN...not Lois and Clark.
You know a superhero is done right when half the world can't remember his alternate identity
Hulk, Batman, Spawn, The Punisher, ironman, captain America. all these names I can go and ask most younger kids or older people and they would stumble through names till they get the right one. "Who's Ironman?"..."um...Bruce bann...oh wait that's Hulk right??!! or something..." The point made here is that those characters or movies they are in do very well to translate the MAIN character who is for example is BATMAN in Batman Begins. Not too many people care about wayne enterprises and his businesses and what not. We only all just care about Batman, his car, and his villains, don't care to remember his parent's names and what not. Superman can be cool, but currently he's not. They got us caring too much about Kal El and Clark Kent and not much about Supes himself, like "smallville", and it really doesn't add to the mythos, but takes away from it (I do like smallville by the way. Once we saw Bruce in the armor, it was a wrap for Wayne's life. batman had begun and nothing else mattered. Who cares about what he's thinking, who he loves, and him having affairs and bastard children. "it's not who I am underneath, but what I dooo that defines me". Too bad superman can't say the same huh?!
