Watch this and I DARE you not to cry.

I turned it off half way through. :(

wow, somebodies being a cold bastard....

First off, there is no reason to name call. As I just found out you can't call anyone anything on the HYPE! even something silly. And second, I was simply asking what that meant. If she didn't want to end up talking about it she wouldn't have brought it up to begin with.

After about a minute into the video I started wondering how that 99 Red Balloons song was going to fit in with all this.

Very sad stuff though.

I thought about it at first (the song) then when the days started to go by it hit me.

I'm glad the the parents and their friends and family were able to use their faith to help them deal with the situation, and it's good that they got to spend more time with their sick baby than they thought they would.

However, I personally don't see a 3-month old baby eventually dying as a "miracle" that proves the existence of a loving God myself. To each his own of course.

I agree, maybe that's why I didn't cry.

I didn't cry. But that was really sad.

That poor kid had no chance. It makes you not want to be a parent.

One, i assumed you found that out by getting me that infraction? Two, Dew's statement was pretty cut and dry. Not a whole lot of different ways you can skin that cat. So my mistake, you weren't being cold, you were just being ignorant? (And notice the punctuation, its a question, not a statement.) Even if you were, there's subtler ways to approach the subject. We're talking about a real life person's kid here, not a stupid character in a comic. And with that being said, I'm not gonna argue about something like this with you any further; its not something to be trivialized into an internet spat (and Dew, if it has become that in your eyes and offended you, I apologize deeply; you do have my utmost sympathies and feelings in mind).

I don't think the infraction was necessary but that's just my opinion.

I thought the video was sad but kind of uplifting . Of course this didn't happen to me so it didn't hit a rough spot. I don't think the intention of the video was to create negative feelings but that is what seems to have happened here.

Thanks, Spider-Who, and no I didn't take any offense, not to you or to DACMAN

I didn't cry, but who's surprised at that

I would have aborted

Haha, the end should have said

"God gives. God jacks it back."

In all seriousness though, that's sad.

However... if you knew that your unborn child was going to have a horrible disease that would likely kill them in that short of a period, and you knew the obviously painful existence that they'd endure...

Would I abort in that case? Yes.

Well yea I wouldn't even call it an abortion. It's more like euphonasia I think.

You can't euthanize something that isn't born. It's absolutely an abortion in that case.

Well I didn't mean technically. But you know what I mean. The kid obviously can't decide for themselves, and their life isn't going to be livable. I think if it was 100% certain they were gonna be really ill and in a lot of pain when they are born, then abortion would be the right way to go IMO.

On the other hand...
If someone was in a situation like I was, and had found out that their child had a terrible liver disease and he wouldn't live past the age of 2 and then had an abortion, they would have missed having such an amazing child.

My son was diagnosed with said disease and they told us there was no cure and he'd die before he turned 2. He is a perfectly healthy happy boy age 9 right now. He was miraculously healed from this disease and is living a healthy life :)
