Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut

5-disc DVD!? That's insane.

I freaking love that cover. Been looking forward to this for quite some time. Definitely gonna be a first day purchase.

Dunno if I'll buy this again. Already have UK Blu-ray (theatrical cut) and US Blu-ray (Director's Cut)...

Love the film though, really love it. May be tempted, can feel hand reaching towards credit card...yikes...

So there's a commentary with Snyder and a commentary with Gibbons? Cool. I do hope, however, that there is a seamless branching feature so you can watch the Ultimate and Director's cut. The only thing that bugs me, if the article on the main page is correct, disc 3 is only a digital copy of the film and has nothing else on the disc. Kind of a waste of a disc. But at 45 bucks, this is pretty cheap compared to most multiple disc boxsets. I think i'll wait for some reviews to come in first, and then grab it. I'm also thinking about getting a blu-ray player this Christmas, so i might hold off until then.

Cant wait for this but the director's cut hasnt even come out in the UK yet, I already have the theatrical version on blu-ray so wont be buying it 2 more times.

The UK DC is meant to be out in December so god knows when this will be released in the UK.

Not sure if i should be saying this, but the USA release of the Watchmen Director's Cut will play on UK Blu-ray players. That's why I bought it. :cwink:

A $43 SRP is very good considering you get the Under the Hood/Tales DVD, The Motion Comics DVD and the Ultimate Cut. You couldn't buy all three at that price. This is exactly what I hoped for, great that WB didn't release it years from now.

Will definitely be buying this.

If there's one thing I wish they would've kept in from Hayter's original draft, and I wonder if they filmed it, is when Rorschach yells the final "Do it!", he's aware that Dan's outside watching.

Ooooooh! Nice! Might be an early birthday present to myself :P

What I've been waiting for and why I didn't buy the director's cut. Can't wait for this Blu-ray.

The cool thing is, it comes with a digital copy of the theatrical, so I'll have that version too.

This is the version of the film I have been waiting for. I have still got the Theatrical and Director's cuts, but this my preferred version of the film, with Black Freighter included as it was in the novel. I like the cover as well, and the fold out case inside. It looks very well presented.

If it's cheap I might buy it. I feel that the DC is close to perfection for me, adding in BF may just make it drag.

So the Black Freighter is going to be edited into the actual live action film?

Yes, it is. It says so right on the box.

The main selling point for me is the commentary. But am I the only one who's not too crazy about the cover art?

same

picking this up as a XMAS present to myself

That set looks great but if you live in Europe (like me) it looks you'll need to import the Ultimate and director's cut. Or wait until Paramount decides to put their ego aside and release it here as well.:whatever:

The chiefs at Warner proved courage to take the rated-R risk and haven’t been rewarded. Due to the high production costs of 130 Million Dollars, advertising expenditures of more than 50 Million Dollars and the complicated distribution of the revenues which results of a very long legal dispute, this movie might ever be a money-losing-business for Warner. 184 Millionen US-Dollars worldwide revenues was just insufficient in this case. One can’t talk about a ruinous bombing but the financial success stayed away. But if we are honest this was only to be expected! Warner then decided to release the director’s cut (Snyder’s preferred version) on DVD and Blu-Ray to realize at least some profit in future – or at least reduce the loss. However first in the USA. Because for the European Market Paramount is the responsible company and both majors share the rights of the movie. And Paramount doesn’t see any reason for an extended version. For Christmas Warner announced another much longer “Ultimate Edition” in the US. In this version all Black-Freighters-Scenes will then be integrated into the director’s cut. Meanwhile in the uS both version have been released on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Would be nice if they could have an Ultra Utlimate Collectors Edition with the directors, theatrical ánd ultimate cuts in one package. Since i've bought neither that would be the most ideal thing for me.:o

The movie is not even on DVD in my country.... :(

@Ipodman Not even the TC?

Paramount = FAIL SAUCE
Fixed

No, you're not. Needs more :yay:. They should've put the logo somewhere else, IMO; TBF doesn't play that big of a role. But... nice idea, I guess. Simple.

I thought the DC was near perfect (missed a couple scenes I really like), but I'd like to see this. There'll be several snippets of TBF popping up, I take it? If so, at what point (same as in the comic?). And how, since they don't have any panels to 'jumble up'. Hope it won't be too distracting. Only read TBF twice and never again, but it's still part of the comic, so... This is gonna be WATCHMEN
