Not really, unless they have their IM names up. Generally, especially with oldbies, the email address they register with isn't the one they check, or they might not remember the password to it, or it was hacked.

I have a crack team whose sole duty is to alert me whenever important Flexo matters occur. Since they rarely do, the team also makes me coffee. You should see it. There's a big map, red lights, and frantic scurrying.

there was a point where the poster The Hero was missing for something like 8 months, and I asked a mod to email him for me. I don't know if he ever actually got that email, but he did eventually come back.

But it's like Drak said, the only extra contact info we have for posters is their registration email, and if the posters don't come around to the hype anymore, there's a good possibility they don't check that particular email anymore either
