Were the 1990's lame?

I am seeing a patter that people who speak highly of the 90's always cite the cartoons, TV shows, and / or video games. I never said those were lacking in my post, though-- I was saying that it was everything else about the 90s that was pretty forgettable.

They were my teen years for the most part. So yeah, the 90's sucked.

But TV shows are a big part of any decade.

I'm too young to think of the '90s outside of that.

The 90's were awesome because...

1.) New Jack Swing (there was a fair ratio of rap and singers)
2.) Not everybody had a cell phone
3.) Def Comedy jam
4.) TGIF on ABC
5.) The cartoons on USA network
6.) Yes we had desert storm but terror events were few and far between
7.) Sega Genesis
8.) I lost my way home from Virginiaty.....

Breaking news from Webster(yes, the dictionary guy)

Lame now means "freaking awesome"

If that was supposed to say, "I lost my virginity," then your argument is well supported. If not, I don't know what the hell you're talking about.

The 90s had The Adventures of Pete and Pete very awesome.

I really hate 80's hairbands so the fact that they largely died out at the beginning of the 90s is a huge plus.

As others have mentioned, the internet being new at the time was fun.

I miss the times when you could inform someone that you didnt own a cell phone and they wouldn't look at you like you had three heads.

I think the 90's were more of a comfortable, stable, normal era. They weren't as goofy as the 80's (what little I remember of them, was 7 when that era ended lol), and 2000 is just one crisis after another. If anything, 80's were fun (so many awesome cartoon's and toys for a kid), 90's were the best decade of my life so far, and 2000-2010 just sucked (talking the decade itself, not my personal life).

Video games, TV and cartoon shows, and Internet were huge things for me in the 90's, but they weren't the only thing I loved about the decade. I was 14 when it started, so all the "big" life changers happened to me during that period. Graduated, drivers license, first car, first accident, second car, first alcoholic beverage, first real love, moving out of my parents house, [BLACKOUT]sex :hrt:[/BLACKOUT], and tons of other things. It was a very influential and transitional time in my life. So for me personally, the 90's were not lame at all.

Yes sir. Cartoons were really awesome in the 90's. So many good ones.

Alot of the '90s was lame. But the '90s was also when animated TV shows were at their best!

Everything else was *****ey, EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEME!

We're at the 20 year mark. Isn't this where people usually start to get all retro-nostalgic? You know, the return of pastel track suits in the 00's, the semi-revival of disco in the 90's, Grease and Happy Days in the 70's, etc.

One can only hope.

I had a great time in the 90's. Mostly mid to late 90's since those were my teenage years and I had a BLAST!!

Of course the 1990's were lame. Doesn't mean I didn't love them! 90's were a great part of my life: my childhood. I miss it :(

Timstuff did an amazing job of trollin'. You really got people worked up. And you also kinda ripped off my `90s thread from the Film Section. We literally had this same exact discussion.

But anyway,

The `90s were great. Let's forget about pop culture for a minute. Let's forget about Immortalfire's high school years for a second. And just remember that we had no major wars (Desert Storm wasn't really that big), the economy was great (for the most part anyway), and we didn't have the Tea Party. I mean, really, how can the `00s compete? And the `10s are off to a horrible start.
