this is actually not a good place to go for digital cameras, believe it or not. eBay can be your best friend for some stuff, but for others, u end up losing money.

i personally own a sony cybershot Black t7. its takes crisp pics, records videos, and i dont even need software to transfer the files. however it came with a hefty pricetag.

i previously owned a sony cyber t1, and upgraded to the t7.

for your pricerange, there really isn't a better place to go browse other than www.cnet.com or www.pricegrabber.com

i really wouldn't buy a camera from a retail store.. they horrendously overcharge.

PS: i prefer sony only because i've had personal experience with them, but Casio makes great cameras.

I'd lourve an 8 megapixel camera... mmm... but those range from $500-800. :(

i have a 5.1 megapixel camera, and its fine for prints up to 16 x 20. although i've never printed a picture; i just keep them on my comp.

Why would you want one that's only 5 megapixels, when you can get 6?

My brother bought a Konica Minolta Z5 pretty recently. Bloody brilliant.
Picture resolution up to 2560x1920 (5.1 MPixels).
It can also record videos (with sound) up to 640x480 in .mov format.

Edit: Sorry, just noticed the price limit you posted... :O

Well then since there isn't a camera in the world able to do that he's not going to be buying a camera.

that's cuz they're bosses tell them to do that. if they had a choice they'd be surfing, gaming and listening to music the whole day at the store.

yeah so i worked at a Best Buy at one point. so what? :o

buying online has its pros and cons. since this is a camera and you want good quality i strongly suggest that you go to a store and test run it yourself.

I'm partial to Canon and Olympus digital cam's. I have a Canon G5 dSLR that takes fantastic pictures. Research will be key in determining which camera is going to best suit your needs and price range. Here are some good sites for helping you do that:

http://www.dpreview.com/

http://www.dcresource.com/

http://www.steves-digicams.com/

http://reviews.cnet.com/Digital_cameras/2001-6501_7-0.html

Once you've decided on the one you want, Froogle will help you find the best price from a reputable dealer.

Cheers,
jag
