So there is a worst experiences thread. How about best experiences? You know when you come out of a showing with a huge grin on your face, surrounding by other people with similar goofy grins on their face.

Or an experience that has a deeper feeling for you.

Avengers- One of the funnest times i've ever had in a cinema. Looking at it now, it's not THAT great of a film. But what it is unquestionably good at is creating that visceral thrill ride sensation. The part when Hulk punches Thor and smashes Loki? The cinema erupted in laughter. Hundreds of people all just going crazy at the same moment.

Children of Men- The feeling that film gave me at the end is hard to explain. A sadness but also a sense of joy. The scene where the soldiers and rebels stop fighting as Theo carries the baby out of the war torn building... I could sense the effect that had on people. It was tangible how powerful that moment was.

Pitch Black- I got my first blow job in the back of the cinema during a showing of this. Well, it was a great experience :)

Avengers was great, but I wouldn't put it up there with the "best" theater experience. Had a dude talking in front of me.

Haha….. :yay:

Well, the films where I first hooked up with girls in the cinema, were usually terrible and ones I half paid attention to. The first time I snogged a girl in a theater was during 'Gone in 60 Seconds', which was kind of a crappy car heist movie.

I remember getting chills during the early scenes of 'Kick Ass', like when he defended the guy in the parking-lot and people started crowding around and filming him, because it seemed so grounded like what would happen if a person realistically tried to be a vigilante. Then the film became big and stupid and lost its' grounded nature towards the end, when it had Kick Ass shooting people out of windows with bazookas and Hit-Girl bouncing off walls and stuff. I really wish they had stuck to the uber-realistic tone it set up in the first 40 minutes, but instead they took the easy crowd-pleasing way out.

Loved '28 Days Later' and 'No Country for Old Men' in the theater. Those two both left me in shocked silence. And loved finally seeing long awaited films like 'Dark Knight', 'Zero Dark Thirty' and just last weekend, 'Days of Future Past.' I don't have anything quite as cool as your BJ story though.

Yea the ending of Kick Ass ruined it for me too.

My favourite part though was when Big Daddy got burnt to death and Hit Girl was trying to save him.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith: not only was the movie an emotional ride for me, but the crowd of people i saw it with was amazing. I think knowing it was the last one (then, anyways :oldrazz:) just made the experience special. I laughed, cried, cheered and left the cinema on a high note.

Th Avengers: again, this one was one of those movie experiences made better by the crowd i saw it with. I was excited for the movie, but what i got exceeded what i expected, and i got emotionally invested and completely sucked into the movie. Like with ROTS, i found myself cheering, laughing and just having a damned good time.

Avatar: talk about a movie that caught me by surprise. I went to see it because i was intrigued, and i connected with the story. It was a visual treat (i saw it in both 2-D and 3-D), and i just thought it was beautiful movie. It took an universal theme and created this amazing world around it.

Aw…. you just like that because it was a crazy Nic Cage moment :o

I'm joking. :yay: I liked it too.

Crazy Nic Cage can make even the worst film imaginable kinda entertaining lol.

Iron Man - knocked my socks off that they didn't veer much further from source material(a very common problem at the time). After the puke of AngHulk, this very nearly made up for it.

Best experiences have come from Knocked Up, Return of the King, and The Avengers. The audiences were positively electric for those - laughing, cheering, crying all throughout the movies. I had a great time seeing Liar, Liar when I was 11. My two best friends and I went to it, and we were literally rolling on the floor laughing. It was at the right time when we could start seeing more adult-oriented movies, but still retained juvenile senses of humor.

Wedding Crashers
The Dark Knight
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Honourary votes to

Home Alone 2, it is the first movie I ever saw in theatres.
Ghost Rider, I was on a hot date and the movie sucked, so we just fooled around.
Freddy vs Jason and Alien vs Predator, very indulgent movies.

ETA: Forgot the non-hollywood

The Motorcycle Diaries
City of Life and Death

The Dark Knight. Opening night. IMAX.

It was like a party outside, across the street at the bar it was Bat-fans everywhere. People taking shots to Alfred for goodness sake!

Then inside a radio DJ gave away some free swag and the crowd was amped up.

However as soon as that blue WB logo came up, the place went dead silent. It was time.

Then the film happened and it was just amazing.

The ending to No Country for Old Men.

I can't put into words the feeling in the room at that moment, I think only I and Louis C.K. would enjoy that moment. Priceless.

The Raid 2. I had an amazing theater experience with this film. The crowd just ate it all up, the way my theater reacted to the fight scenes especially final battle scenes, it was just incredible.

Being in the UK "wild" theatre experiences are VERY rare. I go to the cinema a lot and never once heard someone cheer during a film and maybe only 5 times heard people clap after!

So when you get a crowd that is into it (outside of midnight showings) it can be quite special here. For example Inception the crowd at the end was clapping, frustrated (in a good way) exhales and general chatter.
TDKR personally for me as it was such an event film as in my lifetime (too young for LOTR and Star Wars) it was probably the first time a massive movie franchise in my life that I really invested in was to definitively end. And at the end unlike anything I've seen here the crowd erupted in applause. I knew it would be a special screening as the first day pretty much sold out in 24 hours which has never happened at my cinema before.

Avengers will also hold a top spot as it was the first time I'd seen such a film combining different films before and it was just so brilliantly done. Even Godzilla today had some shots that will stay with me Godzilla doing the "thing" down the other MUTO's throat (that sounds wrong) is easily IMO the best movie moment of 2014 so far.

Outside of blockbusters I'd say either The Hangover 1 or 21 Jump Street probably had the best reception of any comedy I've seen. People really just aren't as loud here as in the States. Sometimes it can be nice to just all sit quietly, get invested and watch. However, with big blockbuster films you sometimes want to stand up and shout "come on everyone get into it!".

I guess captain america the winter soldier. I had never been to an early screening before and there were so many excited people there. Was a lot of fun.

The Dark Knight Rises at midnight.
Frozen when it was snowing outside (rather fitting) and I got a theater to myself.

TDK and TDKR. TDK's overall experience was better, but the response to the ending of TDKR was astounding. Everyone was so happy!

The Avengers takes the overall cake for me, though. Every was in on it, reacting to everything in the most excitable way. They all loved it.

Hoping that AOE would be an even better experience.
