Civil War What are the rosters going to be?

Well so far confirmed are

Captain America
Iron Man
Black Panther
Falcon
Black Widow
Spider-Man
Crossbones
Baron Zemo

Likely to be in it are also

Vision
War Machine
Winter Soldier
Scarlet Witch
Nick Fury and other SHIELD characters
Ant-Man
Hawkeye

Now going by that I have formulated a new list. Basically if we're going by that. This is the first time I can't actually formulate a list. Because I can't imagine anyone wanting to be on Starks side after AoU. I can see Spidey and Maria Hill and alot of SHIELD being on his side. But I only see Spidey switching to Cap's side when things get too out of hand and SHIELD starts cracking down. Black Panther will probably be in the middle of it all not taking eithers side. But maybe eventually he will decide Cap's side is right.
!

Ultron is, more or less, a highly advanced Iron Man armor. His drones are, more or less, slightly less capable suits.

As per the upcoming Age of Ultron, it kind if proves every Avenger - even Widow - can take on an Iron Man armor.

I really don't see anyone joining Stark in this movie anyhow though. It's like Stark+Government VS Cap and Avengers

We don't know that actually. That seems to have been a mistake based off a news outlet confusing Baron Mordo with Baron Zemo. Daniel Bruhl basically confirmed he's Zemo yesterday.

Oh I thought both had been cast.

Still I have a suspicion, not really founded on anything, that Strange may make a cameo. Marvel seem to be shying away from origin stories from now on, so Strange should already be an established Super. Makes sense to see his stance on the whole SHRA.

That'd be a TERRIBLE idea on the writer's part.

I think it takes away a lot of the punch if Stark has no one on his side. And it also crams the narrative too much if different characters don't have different ideals and take different sides.

War Machine for example is never going to leave his best buddy, and even without that it makes sense for him to side with the government.

Hawkeye is confirmed to be in it, as are Winter Soldier and Scarlet Witch.

It also wouldn't help silence to concerns that they'll be biased towards Cap and against Stark, which is the WRONG way to do a concept like this. "Hey, ALL of the characters that you actually care about are joining one side, while the other has a bunch of no-name government guys backing them." Jee, I wonder who's side they want us to be one, not.

So most of the recent predictions seem like we'll have every major Marvel character sans Hulk and Thor in the movie.

Might as well call it Avengers 3 and make the Infinity War 4/5. Not that I'm complaining, but it's really hard to see how Cap will retain primacy.

I agree that that's going to be the big thing the film has to pull off - keeping the focus on Cap. But it's possible, you just have to make sure the emotional core of the film is with him. Him trying to reconnect with Bucky, and his romance with Sharon Carter. Even though Iron Man will hopefully be portrayed sympathetically, I think we'll still see a lot more of Cap's side of the story.

Also we don't know exactly how much screen time everyone else is getting. Many of the characters may get just one or two scenes of character development, and mostly just be there for fight scenes.

the rest of the cast could mostly be background and cameo....

If you look at what we know of the film so far, there are really 5 central characters. There's Cap and his ideals of freedom, Iron Man and his ideals of security and Black Panther caught in the middle. There's The Winter Soldier making up Cap's personal arc, and then there's Zemo manipulating things in the background. Those are going to be the focal characters, everything else just helps facilitate that. ETA: And honestly I don't know how focal Zemo will be. I get the feeling he'll be there, stoking the fires of the conflict, but not being too overt.

Black Widow and Falcon will probably be Cap's primary sidekicks and "soundboarda", War Machine and perhaps Scarlet Witch will fulfil the same role for Stark. Sharon Carter will provide the romance.

That's all pretty manageable, the same sort of cast size dealt with before. The other characters will be in the background during fight scenes, and each will probably get one or two scenes for them to shine.

have we even had confirmation that Sharon Carter is back? I sure hope so, but I haven't heard that at all yet.... and they start filming in a day or two

Just googling it, it says on her MCU wiki page and a couple of articles that she is back. But I can't find a confirmation. Nonetheless it seems like a given. Just because there hasn't been news about her doesn't mean she's not back. We didn't find out about Falcon being in AoU until just a couple months before release.

To be honest she didn't make too much of an impression on me in TWS. But then that's why I'd like to see her return.

Does anyone else want Dr. Cho to return? I find myself liking her character a lot which is weird given that she's not a huge role. Her, Stark and Pym could form a little club of science bros/sisters.

yeah, they didn't really give VanCamp anything to shine with... which is another reason I hope they give her more....

I still think they should of had Sharon in the role that Black widow ultimately was... I think it would have been much better.. not that it was bad, but it would have been better.

I think my two top picks for this would be Vision and War Machine. I'm really interested to see how they would fit into this story (and how they would interact with each other as part of a team). I'm hopeful for the rest of the Avengers we saw at the end of AoU and I also hope Hawkeye gets a role since he lost out in Winter Soldier and I think this would be a good opportunity for him.

Well, he had a cameo.

Generally when the question of Sharon coming back is asked, the part about her being back as a main character/partner goes unsaid.

Yeah, I think they should've at least given some of the screentime that BW had in TWS to Sharon. ScarJo did a wonderful job, but I think some of her scenes with Cap could've been Sharon instead. Sharon got a poster in TWS, and I took it as a sign that Marvel will be focusing on her in the future, otherwise I don't see the point.

Hawkeye's confirmed. http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/captain-america-3-spoilers-jeremy-5299893

That's cool. I just saw the vid of him dressed up as Hawkeye singing on the Jimmy Fallon show. That was pretty funny. He was funny on the Graham Norton show too (alongside Mark Ruffalo who was also pretty funny).

Team Ironman
Ironman
Warmachine
Vision
Hawkeye
Widow

Team Cap
Captain America
Falcon
Scarlet witch
Agent 13
Antman

I dunno, as cool as this movie sounds it really sounds like another Avengers, only with more obscure heroes save for Cap and Tony. The inclusion of Antman and Vision really supports this thought...

I am honestly hoping that it still feels like a true Captain America movie

Yeah...

....spoilers....

at the end of AoU that last scene sort of seemed like Cap and the "B-Team" Avengers.
