What big name Marvel talent is jumping ship for DC?

I've always liked Finch's work. It was the only thing that got me through Ultimatum. Very interested in seeing what books he gets put on. Hopefully a Bat-title.

Finch + Bats = Pure unadulterated joy that could only be equalled by Lee.

I had a little feeling it might be Finch, no reason for it other than a baseless hunch.

Dude's awesome with street level characters. Personally, I've like to see them give a Montoya/Question to him...

Finch is a good cover artist, but I've found that his incredibly heavy crosshatching on, oh, everything makes his interiors hard to follow. But I suppose that'd play well on Batman comics.

You mean his extreme uses of detail in both foreground and background?

His Moon Knight gear would be the best test for how you'd reckon he'd go with a Batman kind of scenario, with some of the darker tones.

Bats I'd want a bit more gothic tone but I have enough faith to think he'd know that even more than I would.

Personally, Finch plus Bats is bliss for me... it makes the art "No worries."

I'm by no means an art expert but Finch and Lee would be my faves... I think he's underrated.

If I had to pick fault with Finch it'd probably be I don't like the "smoothness" of some of his faces... But he'd still be a fave of mine.

Finch's work sort of reminds me of Silvestri fused with an early Jim Lee.

I'd love to see Finch on Azrael comic. :p Tho i guess he's too "A list" for that book, even tho the sales for it have been good! I agree the guy is at his best when it comes to covers.

I like to view him as this generation's Bill Sienkiewicz...

Awesome with the street level guy's and often gets used as a cover specialist with high quality results.

Which is why it hurt all the more when the Huston/Finch era of Moon Knight ended before it even really began... :waa:

Not even close. Tell me when Finch does something as interesting and good as Stray Toasters, Big Numbers, Elektra, or New Mutants.

True! I wouldn't mind seeing Finch draw a issue for "Return of Bruce Wayne" or a Batman and Robin arc. :) I'd love to see him do something with Paul Dini too but aslong as he doesn't replace Dustin Nguyen whatsoever.

He's only been back in the game about 6 years, mate... he has time (whether he'll do anything as creative as the route Bill has taken remains to be seen, and personally I doubt as well)

Bill took 10 years to earn the respect to be working on things like Stray Toasters, Elektra and the like...

I think all things being equal the comparison can be made, its more a matter of extent.

Believe me, I'd be the last person to try and detract from Bill Sienkiewicz...

I would love if Finch experimented or branch out more.

I guess it doesn't help if he's on stories like Disassembled or Ultimatium. :hehe:
Yeah, maybe DC will be good for him....

You can't blame an artist for drawing an unpopular story he didn't write.

No but I don't have to see him draw images of the Blob eating the Wasp or Hawkeye dying in asinine ways.

I think I should clear something up, I don't hate Finch nor am I a huge fan, I like his work on Moon Knight. I think my main area of disappointment comes from Rich Johnston who hyped it as a very major player from Marvel coming over.

I think its a major addition considering what he'll likely be asked to do, rather than by name alone.

Again, Finch + Batman = win.

Its like the comics equivalent of a sports GM signing a role player which is the perfect fit and should be enough to make them contend... Rather than signing the superstar big name guy...

I'll give you that. I think we were all expecting a writer, and at that, one of Marvel's top 5. Finich isn't a major player at Marvel, and that's not to knock him, it's just all he's worked on in the last year was pretty much just Ultimatum and covers.

But, then again, I think everything in the comic world is overhyped at this point.

I consider Finch to be a major player. He's done the art for Avengers: Disassembled and Ultimatum, launched New Avengers, and did Ultimate X-Men before the Ultimate line went to ****. And unlike most of Marvel's major artists he doesn't stick to one writer like Ed McGuiness, Ian Churchill, Tim Sale, Steve McNiven, Bryan Hitch, Alex Maleev, Stuart Immonen, etc. which boosts his ranks up quite a bit IMO.

Also notice how Bleeding Cool is mentioning that DC is offering several enticing offers to Marvel creators.

Would've preferred McNiven myself but DRZ perfect suggestion with the Azrael thing, that would fit his sensibilities very well and would give a book with great writing but poor art a nice lil boost. Would like to see him on Hex too.

Bad thing is...who will Marvel steal away?
