we all know under a red sun he is powerless and under a yellow sun he has all the ablities we know and love... has he encountered other suns though?
such as orange? yellow-white? white? blue-white? blue?

i think blue,I think their was somthing said about blue suns giving earthlings powers.

dammit, wheres a blue sun when i need it!

He's also been under the purple sun. It has the effect that it cancels out his powers unless he's urinating and then they work.

ha ha ha

the suns i listed are actual scientific classifications... they range from red to blue with yellow being in the middle of the spectrum...

Seriously?

Current Superman generates Superpowers at a rate in direct proportion of the frequency and energy level of the star he's under.

If you tossed him under an orange star for example,.. his powers would bleed off to match his energy expenditure over time under those conditions.

translation: He would lose energy and Super Power untill he reached the new optimum possible under an orange sun. he probably couldn't safely sundip an orange sun,.... but he could probably suck enough power on a low pass to ramp him back up to "normal" yellow sun levels long enough to do a "normal" super feat he does on earth.

I would suppose under a white star he would operate at or near "SunDip" levels.

Under a redsun,... he'd start losing power on a steady decline until he hits human normal, (Not counting the natural super strength, higher bone/muscle density, enhanced durability.)

This is why I want someone to toss Karen Star into a close orbit around the sun,... she needs a power boost.

so in theory if he was around like a "blue" sun hed be insanely powerful? moreso than precrisis?

If he could "safely" sundip a red sun, then he could with an orange sun

In crisis,.. he didn't "SunDip" a red sun,... he Passed thru one pushing Superboy Prime ahead of him.

Based on how his powers work,... Superboy prime became almost powerless immediately,.. Superman only started the decline to "Earth Normal".

Based on the Series "NightFall" where the Sun went out,.. it would be weeks to a couple of months before superman would lose enough power to NOT pass thru a red star unharmed.

As it was,.. the fight completly drained him of energy hence his year of being "human".

I remember when I was a kid that the Wonder Twins were with Superman and the ship they were in suffered some damage. They were either in a white or blue star system (I can't remember) and Superman told the Wonder Twins to help him repair the ship from outside because the star gave them powers like his. It probably isn't canon (even for that time) but he still encountered a different colored sun, he didn't get any extra powers, though.

Also, I think psychologically he was preventing his powers from returning, being happy with a normal life for once.

thats the explaination we got... its kind of odd though... i could buy him mental blocking the use of his abilities, but how was luthor able to injure him? its kinda odd if you actually think about it... damn my overactive brain

I agree.
He came back powerless,.. and refused to charge under a yellow sun. Or better,.. he charged but the forcefield he generates along with the associated solar-powered feats were switched in the off position.

BOT cause the question happened AGAIN.

Keep in mind that in the future superman stories, he essentially becomes an energy being.
