Okay well I'm glad Zack Snyder is doing this film, and I know he is very capable of doing so, but what Director would you have wanted if Snyder wasn't chosen?

as much as I hate Tim Burton, I think he could have done a wonder job.

I fear what Tim Burton would do with Watchmen, he would corrupt the material I think.

I'm going the fact that only thing he does right is atmosphere and visuals, imagine a Burton Rorschach or Doc Manhattan.

I would want a director that doesn't let his ego and "his vision" corrupt the material. A true fan of the material. A guy that has proven than he can not only faithfully adapt a comic book story, but a comic book feel and visuals into his work.

I wish Watchmen could get a guy like that :(

Like David Hayter  That guy is obsessed with the book, I remember an article in Wizard about the film when it was being directed by Greengrass Hayter says he has about 5 copies because they keep getting warn out from him reading them so much.

But hey, isn't Snyder-Man so hardcore that he literally draws all over a copy of the Absolute Edition, which most of us can't even f ucking afford? :whatever:

He was Drawing on a copy of it?

I can't even afford a copy, I want one so bad :(

Greengrass and Arronofsky would have both been incredible. Greengrass more faithful, but Arronofsky more visionary.

Stanley Kubrick or Robert Altman, but they're both gone. The only living one I can think of is PT Anderson. Someone that can deal with an ensemble cast and with complex and layered stories.

To this question, I would answer: None.

Only Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons with Higgons should ever touch WATCHMEN.

Robert Rodriguez. He has proven himself in being able to adapt comic books.

I very much trust Zack Snyder however, as his vision is true and faithful to the material.

Greengrass would make a kick ass Year One movie, but I don't think he's right for Watchmen. I also think Gilliam was the wrong choice, and Robert Rodriguez? No thanks, his work is too cartroony, not in a good way.

I'd say Aronofsky or Fincher, but there's no one really who perfectly "fits" that I can think of.

Why does everybody like Greengrass - is it because of his two Bourne films?

There's only one director that I would have been excited about seeing adapt Watchmen : Stanley Kubrick.

Other than that..nobody.

Terry Gilliam and his twelve part HBO mini-series that I heard he wanted to do.

I voted for Tim Burton, but I would perfer someone who does mysteries better...maybe the same guy who directed 'The Fugitive'...that movie kicks ass.
