Here's the best part:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Don't you have the slightest curiosity about what Watchmen director Zack Snyder is doing with your work?
ALAN MOORE:
I would rather not know.
He's supposed to be a very nice guy.
He may very well be, but the thing is that he's also the person who made 300. I've not seen any recent comic book films, but I didn't particularly like the book 300. I had a lot of problems with it, and everything I heard or saw about the film tended to increase [those problems] rather than reduce them: [that] it was racist, it was homophobic, and above all it was sublimely stupid.

I really do agree with him. Most people don't, but if you were in his shoes, watching your masterpiece try to be turned into a film countless times would get old.

Snyder is probably going to make Watchmen finally work but like Moore said, the damage is already done.

I mean, from the beginning he said he wanted to do something in the comic medium that could NEVER be done in film. That was the whole point. So, now making it into a movie is kind of against everything he wanted.

Don't get me wrong, I am more than excited for Watchmen, but I do understand where Mr. Moore is coming from him.

Moore is great, and I like the fact he's honest!

I'm with Moore too; he's the man. His works got butchered so many times, he has the right to feel that way

Moore may change his tune after seeing the trailer.

I doubt it. Something tells me he'd not be into that stylized look.

I dont agree with his views of 300, and I think he is overreacting, but at the same time Hollywood has dragged his work through the mud continually so I dont blame him for being pessimistic and stubborn.

While I completely agree with his views of 300, I do think he's an overreacting pompous *****e about this. Although, he has been given countless reasons to be this way by Hollywood screwing up everything in the past, I still think he's a *****e.

Moore may change his tune after seeing the trailer.

The trailer has too many sexy shots. Makes the film seem like the Matrix or something. The Watchmen is supposed to be grounded in reality.

If anything, the trailer is very Hollywood and would put Moore off even further.

I always though of him as one of the most pissed off persons in our world. Seriously, many writers only pray for someone to come and give their work a life on big screen, whereas Moore pray for them not to come and touch it.

But what's the sense of selling rights then?

He didn't personally sell the rights if I remember correctly. Watchmen ended up being property of DC and unless it ever goes out of print, it will remain in DC's control and will have the rights. Moore's work with ABC and the other stuff after that he owns the rights to don't end up as films. Though to criticize 300 without actually seeing it for yourself isn't something I think Moore should be doing but he's entitled to his own opinions

Alright, now I see that. But yeah, he is kind of snob, when it comes to discussing others' works.

I liked 300, although for me it was just a bloody action packed flick with overdose of slow-mo and no real strong drama.

However, I still view Snyder as a talented person, who needs more time to show his best. Amd I am talking about not only visual style (which is actually amazing), but also story and characters.

Agreed sometimes when people criticize him I feel like they think hes the writer at the same time. Dawn of the Dead remake was far from cinematic genius but it had a very entertaining motely crew of characters.

Oh boy, I'm sorry, I believe Alan Moore is incredibly talented (as I'm sure we all do), but he comes off as very snobby and a downright...what's the word?...unenjoyable person to be around

Moore is da **** and i totally agree with what he said about 300. What exactly makes Moore snobby sounds to me like he is just stating his opinion. Is it snobby because he finds someoneelses work disagreeable?

His actual job is to direct and remain a head of the team. But I don't worry about the script, as it went through different stages and visions, which would lead to gaining everybody's ideas into one masterwork.

No, but every time when people read his interviews, it just seem like he rates his "aesthetic" taste very high. For instance, today I've read one interview, in which he implied that spending time with Harvey Pekar was way better than the whole AMerican Splendor film, and he was asked to just express his opinion about the film.

I doubt it. Something tells me he'd not be into that stylized look.

Yup. But that was to be expected. I wonder if he'll actually watch the film. Probably not. Or he'll wait a few years. He seems crazy like that. It's a shame.

Meh, he comes off a little to full of himself for my taste. He's a damn good writer, but thats not saying all of his stuff is good.

If he doesn't want to watch 300, V for Vendetta, or this (which looks damn close to EVERYTHING he wrote) so be it. Literally, is his loss, and honestly kinda sad that a creator doesn't even give another type of artist a chance to adopt a work of Moores that he likes.

To be honest, in text he sounds like an a$$. But, I'm not saying he's not a nice guy or anything, I don't know him. But it's kind of selfish to not even be supportive of someone taking a crack at his wonderful story.

That's fine. He wasn't an ass about it or anything. He merely expressed his lack of interest.

I think he's pretty bang on about 300. But in Synder's defense, the film he made was very intentionally faithful to Miller's work, for better or for worse.

And I was surprised that the interviewer didn't ask Moore what he thought of South Park's "Imaginationland" arc, since it touched on a lot of the themes he was making in The League

I love Alan Moore's work, but his pessimism is getting annoying.:cmad:
