What do you hate about comic books?

I hope I don't sound like a prude for saying this but, what drives me nuts about comic books is the women with costumes that are so tiny that their bare asses hang out. I guess there's guys who think this is sexy, but to me these women look like morons. If I want to see characters walk around with no pants on, I'll just watch some Porky Pig cartoons.

That's sexist.

All the dudes wear skin tight testicle hugging clothes. Don't see you complaining about that. :o

haha yea. Women and men are sexual objects in superhero comics. I mean, every single guy is a ripped Adonis lookalike.

Thing is, there is more men reading comics than chicks. So, there you go.

That is a bit of a gripe for me as well. Everyone in comics, civilians included, are way too perfect looking.

Well, like tv, movies, hell, everything...nobody wants to see an ugo in revealing clothing. :o

It would be great if more women in comics wore skin tight outfits also, instead of having their bare asses hanging out. A skin tight outfit is plenty more than what a lot of female superheroes wear. I have no problem with skin tight. I have a problem with bare naked.

Oh, and my comments are sexist? Really? Save it for after Batman reveals his bare naked ass.

"Well, the female body is a... work of art. The male body is utilitarian, it's for gettin' around, like a jeep."

Anubis' succesful use of sarcasm on the internet number 158.

I've started to become a TPB reader instead of a monthly reader cause I hate reading 1/4th of a story and having to wait a month to read the next quarter. I'd rather have the whole story and wait four months for the next story.

More like 1/6th of a story and wait two to three months for the next. :o

Agreed in full. Some fans argue that the 90's were the worst decade in comics. The truth is, the industry doesn't seem to have learned anything from the mistakes of the 90's, other than the variant cover gimmick. They're still making the same asinine moves and alienating fans left and right.

yeah, anytime someone goes all ~hEh, 90s cOMiCs~ I'm like excuse me, you think the stuff they're writing today is any better? Dawwww, that's cute.

The biggest move towards parity in depiction of the sexes in the last 10 years:

Batman's ball-hugging codpiece.

I just want to indicate that this post, unlike the post of Anubis's which I quoted in it, is emphatically not sarcasm-marked.

I don't mind it when female characters wear revealing clothing (for artistic purposes :o), but it bugs me when they don't pull their zipper up, Why put a zipper there if you don't pull it up, Rogue???

Cuz that s**t is hot.

(And by hot I mean in terms of temperature......also it's sexy.)

I prefer when female characters dress conservatively in the comics, as it makes the naughty artwork of them I download off the internet that much hotter :o

Nowadays I just wait for the whole arc to be finished, then buy all the issues at one go. This way, I read a complete story and get that collector's item at the same time. :woot: If I want TPB, my library stocks plenty...

DC is gonna do a soft Reboot in September.

That's what I hate about comics.

You mean that's why you hate DC :o

Marvel seems to be more "focused" than DC in the comic realm as well as the movie realm

Yeah, cuz they totally didn't do a soft reboot for Spider-Man. :o

Dangit, you are right...

But if you are looking at Marvel and DC comics NOW... Marvel seems to have everything together better. Imo.

Eh, as long as Bendis is running the Avengers, and the X-Men continue to be in a state of s**ty to slightly less than s**ty, I'd say they're in the same boat. :o
