What do you think the most important death in comic books is? Barry Allen? Gwen Stacy? Jason Todd? Abin Sur? etc..

Give an explanation if you want...

My vote goes to The Comedian from Watchmen... An iconic comic book moment that not only begins the greatest comic book ever written but also sparked off the
1980's comic book renaissance... In a way, his death could almost be looked at as the passing of the silver age to make way for the modern... One clear definitive moment which changed everything...

The first one. When Dark Phoenix was over, the sales figures came in and then publishers everywhere went .

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Uncle Ben. He's the only one that hasn't been un-killed yet.

Gwen stacy hasnt been unkilled. Sure, she's been cloned several times and had her legacy burnt and mutilated (Thanks, JMS! I've always wanted to see a Norman Osborn/Gwen Stacy sex scene!) but she hasnt been unkilled... Yet.

Uncle Ben..... and no not the guy on the rice box(hehe)
Man! imagine knowing that you could have stop the guy who murdered your uncle who was like a father to you, only cause you were selfish and only thinking about yourself. That is why i will always dig Marvel that some serious guilt that you would always be trying to make up for. and every bit the reason you would put on a suit to fight the forces of evil with. you knew you had a your chance and blew it.cause with great power comes great responsibility

I always loved that about the character too. It's one of the greatest origins ever. What Raimi did to it in the third movie is yet another reason why i truly hate that movie.

It should, and a pocket of survivors still doesn't invalidate that the rest of the population is dead. Think proportionately, Earth's population vs. New York's.

I still say Uncle Ben. Jor-El has lived on through the Fortress of Solitude, Thomas and Martha Wayne get dragged up into Bruce's subconscious and dreams and whatever else almost annually, and Gwen Stacy's been cloned.

Uncle Ben's just daid.

Uncle Ben - With that one death Peter Parker learned what Ben met when he said "With great power comes great responsibility."

This is tough...My first choice was Uncle Ben. The other two best are Krypton and the Waynes. Though the Kents pre-crisis would be a good choice too.

Stan Lee...

wait...how bout Uncle Ben, Bruce's parents, Matt Murdock's father, and any other death that made a man or woman decide to done colorful tights and become a superhero...

Well, yeah but you have to pick one...

Al Simmons?

Fine, Uncle Ben. His death could have been prevented, had it not been for Peter. That has to haunt Peter.

If only Peter had stopped that thief when he had the chance, he wouldn't have startled the Sandman into accidentally shooting Ben while Sandman held him up for his car.

Frank Castles family

I thought that one too, but I figured I would get flames for it, so I didn't bother.

I think it shows though that no matter how much training you have doesn't help when your are in the wrong place at the wrong time

Frank Castles family
You're right, it's this one. I was doing Uncle Ben not because it was important in any way, but because it was more important than the rest. But you're right, Frank's family takes it away. Possibly in conjunction with Frank's fellow soldiers at Firebase Valley Forge.
