Recently I've been playing GTA IV again, and it's got me pretty excited for the next in the series. So far we've only seen the trailer, so we know very little, but all that means is we can have fun speculating and wishing. I'll kick it off with a small wish list to get the ball rolling!

-Robberies/Burglaries: Home invasion and sticking up businesses in previous games has always been great fun, and I'd love to do again. Maybe even on a bigger scale like the bank robbery mission in GTA IV, "Three Leaf Clover". It would be amazing if we had the freedom to do our own explosive bank robberies whenever we please.

-Customization: This was a feature sadly lacking from GTA V, I'd love to see car mods and clothing variety (at minimum) make a return.

-Something to do once the story is over: Probably my biggest gripe with GTA IV was that I got bored quickly once Niko's story was over. I could go bowling and some other tame stuff, or shoot it out with the police. Skyrim had a great system of endless quests with their bounty hunting, thieving, etc. Something like that would do wonders for GTA. Personally I could do random assassinations/kidnappings etc forever.

-Money to spend: Money is always way too easy to earn in these games, and then you're a millionaire with nothing to spend it on. Sure, I'm a criminal and I can steal whatever I like, so maybe money should be harder to come by?

-Human shields: Just a feature I'm always fond of in games.

-Better police tactics: GTA cops have used the "Throw bodies at him until he drowns in the blood of our officers" technique for far too long now. If I'm on a roof top picking people off, or hold up in a building killing everyone who comes through the door I want them to do something more. Throw tear gas in, smoke me out, set up snipers, something more challenging than continually spending their lives until I run out of ammo.

There's a small sample of things I'd love to see, how about you? :woot:

Bank heists sound like fun.

The human shield thing is way over due. Though how far would it go? Would cops actually hold their fire? Or would they just shoot anyway, and you only take less damage?

I would like to see more stealth options. Have multiple silenced weapons.

Also, looking at Red Dead Redemption, maybe a bribe system?

Also, tear gas, that's clever.

multiplayer so you can have do bank robberies and drive bys with your friends.

kidnappings so you can stake out rich people and kidnap them for ransoms.

bribes so you can corrupt local police and politicians giving you new abilities.

gambling so you can play poker or bet on sports then profit on the outcome.

surveillance so you can plant bugs on rival gangsters to give an advantage.

That's all I can think of now.

Bank robberies whenever I want, stealth to kill without drawing attention (would be cool for some Assassination missions), owning businesses, perhaps a "city corruption" factor where you can partially own the police, mayor, etc. And I would love gang wars, where you can become a "boss of bosses" and steer crime in whatever direction you see fit (kidnapping, extortion, chop shops, drug dealing, or even a gang with a heart of gold that keeps violence to innocents at a minimum or turning your gang to vigilantes that only hurt other gangs).

From the tone of the trailer if looks like it went further down serious territory which means it will probably lack alot of Saints Row type fun.

Part of the fun is succeeding in a criminal underworld grounded in reality.

If you want silly fantasy you can always play Saints Row.

Shorter and more focused. Rockstar games are always about 30% too long for their own good.

Aside from that, there are other smaller things I want, but above all else I just want it to be fun.

superpowers, in order to actually have fun with all the free roaming available.

But it's not grounded in reality. It's a mish-mash ripoff of pop culture movies (that might happen to be have taken vague elements from reality) with progression (in the older better games) usually involving silly fun. The opening sequence of Grand Theft Auto 4 is a ripoff of Godfather 2. Movies, not reality guide it, as with most games these days. They are obsessed with trying to immitate movies, generally at the expense of gameplay.

And yea, I will play Saint Row, it's a much more fun game than Gran Theft Auto 4. Lets go bowling.

I would like it so this time the police don't always automatically know where you are.

All I want is a game I enjoy playing something Gta 4 definitely was not.

GTA IV was good enough, all I really want is a GTA IV.5 give me some planes and I'm set.

Above all else, just don't be Saints Row. I don't know why I thought purchasing SR3 was a good idea because that game blows something fierce.

Saints Row is fantastic. Why? because its fun to play. It embraces the ridiculousness and has a blast doing so. Now I do not want GTA 5 to get that ridiculous but I would like to see it return to the days of 3 and Vice City were it blurred the line between more of a reality based game and a ridiculous game. Gta 4 tried to hard to be based in reality thus it was not fun to me.

There's already a GTA V thread, most of which this has/is already been discussed

Oh well, the last response in that thread was nearly two years ago. No harm in a new one, eh? :yay:

I agree with the general consensus here. GTA doesn't need to go into a wild-all-out-cartoon state that the Saints Row series had, but I would like some more activities.

Thundercrack85, I think cops should hold their fire with human shields, or at the very least only fire occasionally from the front and sides. If they came up behind you, I think they'd shoot you in the back. Also, if they did have snipers, the snipers could go for head shots. The downside would be you'd move really slow as you dragged your hostage along.

Another thing I'd like GTA to take from Skyrim is the ability to hire people. If I'm planning a bank robbery it might be cool to be able to pay a shooter, or a driver, of course the driving AI would have to be something special. If the taxi drivers in GTAIV are any indication of how well they might drive in V, I don't have much hope :funny: "Don't **** about, let's go!" *crash*
