I thought there was supposed to be 3 or 4 a year......now we only got one a year for the last while.....and only one more announced.

What happened?

I thought this was a great way to tell more taled of the Marvel U

I honestly have no idea, but I would imagine that a decrease in production would be a result of low sales?

Maybe if they put out a Spider-man or X-Men animated feature then people will buy, nobody cares for Teen Avengers or Dr. Strange movies.

On December 31, 2009, The Walt Disney Company purchased Marvel Animation's parent company Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Animation#cite_note-2Both Marvel and Disney have stated that the merger won't affect any preexisting deals with Lionsgate or other production companies for the time being,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Animation#cite_note-3 although Disney said they will consider distributing future Marvel Animation projects with their own studios once the current deals expire.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Animation#cite_note-4 Currently the contract Marvel has with Lionsgate is for eight films, seven of which have already been released with the last coming out in 2011 before Disney takes over the distribution.

Well...they sucked, didn't they?

They all had very poor animation. The voice acting was awful. Try listening to some of the accents in Ultimate Avengers, it's like Batman the Animated Series never happened.

The DC cartoons are so vastly superior in every way taht it's hard to see how Marvel can compete with their cheap D-grade animations.

they are not making enough money of it
too many people are downloding for free

You really can't get enough done in 70 minutes. They need to up the running time and animation or forget it

Oh my yes. I wonder how it is they can take live action movies so seriously and yet drop the ball so frequently when it comes to animation. Ultimate Avengers was absolute dreadfulness.

With Marvel's deal with Lionsgate now done and the formation of Marvel Television I think this will become the most active division of Marvel Studios.

Disney is the king of DTVs so expect tons of Marvel animated features. I think that's why Marvel trying to get all it's rights back. Forget live action films animated X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spider Man films would do extremely well.

The animation for them were pretty good. I just dont think theres interest in the characters they put out. Like Mace Dolex said, they should try putting out films based on the X-men and Spiderman. Those would probably do better

Like I said before now that Marvel's done with Lionsgate alot of things are about to change. Now Marvel's animation is under Disney so will be 100 x better.

Now if you look at the 1st 8 Marvel Animated Features they have revolved around the 10-20 franchises that formed Marvel Studios (Avengers, Iron Man, Thor, Doctor Strange, The Hulk, etc)

Every time Marvel Studios wanted to use a character over at Fox there was a problem.

Couldn't acknowledge Storm as Azari's mother in Next Avengers
Reed Richards, Silver Surfer, Black Bolt, Professor X and the Brood not allowed in Planet Hulk.
I'm suprised Wolverine was allowed in Hulk Vs.

Since the creation of Marvel Animation they've gotten Namor, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher back, plus I think they can do Spider-Man now.

I wish Marvel would make an R-rated animated movie featuring one of these characters:

Punisher
Moon Knight
Ghost Rider
Wolverine

There needs to be a Captain America animated movie, nuff said.

marvel animation needs to have regular dvd output like DC animation has.. i just hope that disney resources are tapped heavily, and that marvel characters aren't treated like stepchildren..

Disney took over, they're repackaging them with princesses and musicals.

How sad is it that the only Marvel animated movie I have seen is Next Avengers? they played it on Disney XD one day so I recorded it and watched it over the span of like a week. I really want to see Hulk Vs. That actually looks like it would be really good. I was so disappointed when I heard how bad they dropped the ball on Ultimate Avengers, considering how good the Millar/Hitch run on the book was.

Ultimate wasn't too bad. It had its moments. My biggest complaint was they started it almost in the middle of the team formation.

Hulk Vs. Wolverine is awesome. The character designs were great, the animation and the action were very fluid, and the voice acting was just fine. The inclusion of Deadpool was stellar! "Hey, Logan! It's me, Deadpool! I shot you!!!"

It was surprisingly bloody, too! Wolverine chops off Deadpool's arm at one point.

They can't make Spider-man or X-Men movies as Fox and sony have the movie rights to them.
But dude, just buy the second season of the 90s Spider-man cartoon, it plays out like one big movie, 'The Neogenic Nightmare', with the X-men, Blade, and the Punisher as guest stars.

and then the third season is split into two parts, like two movies, 'Sins of the Father' with Doctor Strange, Dardevil, Iron-Man and War Machine, and 'Partners in Crime' with the Black Cat.

season four is also split into two sections, 'Six Forgotten Heroes' with Captain America, and 'Secret Wars' with Storm, FF, Black Cat and Iron-Man.

you probably already have them though eh?

Marvel can use any character when it comes to animation.

I hope that something is announced by the summer conventions, it seems rather bizarre that "no" movement all has taken place on anything since the Marvel/Disney merger was finalzed..

The 90s Spider-Man series hasn't been released on DVD, at least not officially.

I just assumed you could get it over there in the states, you can get it on region 2 over here in the UK officially.

marcvader: I'm pretty sure that Sony and Fox have all the rights to Spidey and X-Men, for movies/tv, animated or live action. That's part of the deal, otherwise why have we not see a spidey or X-Men animated movie? Them being Marvel's most popular characters.

Why no Spiderman? Don't know. But we did get Hulk versus Wolverine. Go figure.
