What games=movies

Absolutely none.

That's opinion I can get behind, we've yet more then one good video game to movie adaption, that one being Silent Hill(bout as good as they could've done) but with all the other absolute failures I think that says something

So just because it hasnt been done well yet means it shouldnt be done? You two are idiots. Just because there were no great superhero movies before Superman, should they have just not made any comic book movies at all, ever? Dont be f**king dense.

Anyway, Halo would be incredibly easy to make into a movie, if you use the books to flesh out the plots. Resident Evil deserves a more accurate translation. Gears Of War could be done, using the GoW bible, and not the game itself. Zelda would be an easy one to do.

Yea I'm pretty much in TOTAL agreement with Joker on this one. Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid would make great movies as well as the ones Joker mentioned.

I thought Splinter Cell was inches away from being greenlit a few years back.

I think they'd have to simplify MGs plot a helluvalot though, or else it would be like Matrix Reloaded and go over a s**t load of casual viewers heads...

Ya know, now that ya mention, i thought it was as well.

Yea, im sure they would, but id like to see those characters come to the big screen.

Agreed 100%. In fact, the movies they did so far could have been much better if any effort was put behind them. Doom is a prime example of a game made into a film that fails due to lack of direction and horrible plot twist. But it's not because the game can't be made into a film, it's just that who ever wrote and directed this took notes from Plan 9 from Outer Space. Though I'm satisfied with Resident Evil(not Apocalypse). It's still my favorite zombie flick.

I personally think Legend of Zelda could turn into a trilogy that makes Lord of the Rings look inferior in comparison. I think God of War could rival 300 if done right. And yes, Halo would be awesome and if someone messed up that movie, they'd need to be shot.

It depends for me. The only decent video game film that's been made was Silent Hill.

Until video game movies get a director like Peter Jackson, Sam Raimi, Bryan Singer, or a Spielberg behind them who will be respectful to the material and make them into great films I say none should be made into films.

However, if they were to be done right, I'd say Metal Gear Solids, God of War, Gears of War, a more accurate depiction of Resident Evil, and A Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Singer's a hack.

Singer's a hack.

Well, I don't think he's a hack. I enjoyed Usual Suspects, X1/X2, Superman Returns, and Apt. Pupil. But I'd rather for him to direct a video game movie than say Paul Anderson or Uwe Boll.

When I say Singer directing something I'm saying someone who can take the material seriously and create it in such a fashion where it's a great, epic, and emotional film. I wouldn't want Singer directing God of War, Metal Gear, or Zelda.

Personally if Singer WERE to direct a video game based film, I'd say his talents would be welcome in Hitman as Hitman is more in line with how Singer portrays certain characters, visuals, and twists. Hitman is another film that I hope gets the proper treatment. The trailers for it look absolutely horrible and the film itself looks like trash.

Yeah, every one of Singer's movies have been arguably made better than every video game movie, so that gives him more than enough credit.

I don't get how one movie can turn so many people against a director after all he's done. People didn't even give Spielberg this much crap after The Lost world..

Even though Zelda would fall into the realm of a sword and sorcery movie, I don't think it could compare exactly with LOTR. They just seem so different.

A Zelda movie would also be very difficult to pull off in some ways, since the game focuses on exploration and on a character that never speaks...I feel the same way about the Metroid movie. They'll have to do some heavy changes.

That's actually a good point.

I actually liked Superman for the most part. It's the fact after Superman and the first X-Men he's all like "the first one is suppose to suck." (not a real quote, it was something along those lines) :whatever: And it's amazing how Raimi could make a skin tight red and blue suit work well, yet he sticks to the "fact" that yellow super hero suits would never work.

Hack is probably too harsh. I like his stuff for the most part. Overrated is a better word. Hack is for people like Kevin Smith.

The Myiamoto guy ( I know, I know, I spelled that wrong) said there will never be a Zelda movie. That's why fans are doing this...

I'd love to see an accurate Bioshock film, maybe about the fall of Fontaine.

I refuse to die until I've seen the Halo movie.

Wolfenstein could easily become the next Indiana Jones. I forgot who's directing that one, but if they make it "What the hell, just go with it" film-making and get a good tough-guy-everyman like Harrison Ford, it will soar.

I don't care what anyone says, Zelda would suck as a movie. It's story is just too shallow and the quest is too ordinary.

Deus Ex however, would be fantastic. As would Max Payne. Those are two games that really have a shot at being good movies by concept alone. Max Payne would need to compress both stories together to really make for a good movie, but Deus Ex seems perfect. The story-arc and pacing of the game would really go over pretty well. A few tweaks and you have a great thinker-light action movie.

Half-Life is a game that should work, but I can see it crumbling easily. Gordon and Barney team up with expendable scientists to fight the military and aliens and escape Black Mesa (sort of). Yes, it would have some amazing moments, and yes, it would be great action. Unfortunately, it would be a Bruckheimer film and not the deeper movie it's fans would want.

Above all though, I'd really like to see a "Shenmue" movie. Get a great young asian actor, do the games, and then finish the damn story!
