What Happend to Family Guy?

Anyone have a list of the celebrities/people Peter Griffin hates from one of the later episodes of the season?

I'd like to see how many of them are more creative than him and his entire writing staff.

Because the writers arent smart enough to fill a damn running time for an episode, so they rely on dragging a joke out to the point where a joke that could've been somewhat funny just gets damn annoying (evidence: Everytime a character is running and falls down and then goes on to spend about 90 seconds going "Oooh! Oow! Aah! Oww!")

Anytime they do a joke that lasts longer than one minute, I'm tempted to not just turn the channel, but to hunt Seth McFarlane down, sedate him and tie him to a tree in the middle of a deserted forest.

To be honest, the two times I saw that happen in the Willy Wonka Beer episode, I thought it was friggin hilarious.

It was funny in that episode but they keep bringing back the same jokes over and over and that is lame. It is like he is trying to copy the first 3 seasons beause everybody loves it but he doesn't realize that his creativity is what created it. He is a hack now and with three different cartoons going, they are all suffering.

truth

he's going to burn himself out more so than he already has

The new episode just aired and it sucked. Recently family guy hasnt been as good as it usually is. Is seth and the crew running out of juice?

yes, after their 4th season they ran out of creative ideas to make the show good, i guess the fame affected their creativity

FG is not as good or original as it used to be, but it's still better than The Simpsons is right now.

I'm more into American Dad, that show keeps getting better and better.

So are the Simpsons done, or are they going yet another season?

agreed, they need to die already
Or just make an attempt to be funny again. I watched a weeks worth of repeats from the third season. Bart was a great lead character, now he's not much more than an extra.

I think what would help The Simpsons is if they brought back some of the writers from the classic seasons (one of the reasons why I loved The Simpsons Movie so much).

why do you guys even watch the show if you hate it so much

Not sure if this is the case for those posters, but it's probably for the hope that the show will get better. That's why I continue to watch Family Guy here and there.

It's not as bad as Family Guy getting another season(s).
disagree simpsons is the same crap over and over now - homer has become mentally ******ed he should literally be in a hospital now - look back to how he was in the first loads of seasons (i.e an actual character) bart and lisa do next to nothing - maggie is often forgtten - marge and homer have marriage trouble in almost every episode - either get off the marriage toruble stories they are boring now (very very boring) or just divorce them - hell the show needs some changes - not just behind the scenes either maybe its time to let the kids grow up a bit or something anything to get the show out of where it is now

QFT

the show definitley needs a miracle

Well most of us (I would assume) are "old school" fans of the show, as in we (at one point in time) enjoyed the writing, characters, dialog, etc. etc. Just because it all went to complete crap doesn't mean we're not going to watch (at least here and there) to see if it improves.

I'm sure non us want to be "that guy" that quit watching all together yet bashes the show even when it improves. If the show DOES INFACT improve at any point in time (which I doubt it will as it's pretty much obvious its ran its course/over stayed its welcome and needs to go out to the fields to die already), I want to be there and witness it so I no longer have to bash it

in conclusion, none of us "enjoy" talking down about The Simpsons, we whole heartedly WANT to enjoy it like we use to (which is why we stick around) but the show itself isn't really giving us much of a choice.

I think the problem with Family Guy is not that the writing has gotten worse, but that it has stayed the same. The show's original audience has matured, but the show has not matured with them and so the original audience don''t find it as funny as they once did, however it's target audience will continue enjoy the show for what it is. And the reason the original audience find the old episodes funny is merely nostalgia.

Sidenote : The quality of The Simpsons has deteriorated though, but that was only to be expected after however many hundred episodes, there are only so many stories that can be told about one family / one town.

Didn't say it was perfect or even good. Just that Family Guy is worse.

Both The Simpsons and Family Guy blow chunks right now. The writing on the Simpsons has been horrible since 1999-2000 season. And Family Guy fell apart about 2007-2008 season. In both shows All the characters have devolved into pale caricatures of themselves, supporting characters have become nonexistent, or insignificant and storylines literally repeat themselves.

The producers of the Simpsons are just phoning in it until the show is no longer profitable for Fox (means a 0.5 rating and impossible to sell to advertisers,) and they'll probably do an entire episode around cardboard cutouts with cell phones taped to them just for laughs if they could get away with it. Sadly, this idea would actually be funnier than anything the Simpsons writers have done over the past ten years.

Family Guy fell apart when it became a springboard for MacFarlane's liberal agenda with Brian becoming Macfarlane's mouthpeice. I have truly hated this show over the past two years; If I want to hear political and social commentary in my entertainment I'll watch the original Twilight Zone. The late Rod Serling owns Macfarlane infinity times over and serves him for breakfast lunch and dinner.

If Fox had some Juevos, like they did in the early 90's they'd take a risk, cancel both shows and rebuild their Sunday night.
