What Happend to Family Guy?

I'm been telling everyone (that I know IRL) that Family Guy has sucked since God knows how long. American Dad is actually funnier, and the characters are likeable and enjoyable.

To all my peeps saying Family Guy is as bad as the Simpsons...that's debatabe. What's not debatable is that it took many years for the Simpsons (and King of the Hill) to finally start to get bad, while Family Guy started to blow as early as what, season 2? Season 3, maybe?

Now if the original writing staff was still on, who knows how this show would have turned out. Now, it's as funny as Mad TV, the 2004 era on up. BAAAAAAAD.

The makers of Family Guy effectively killed it by bringing it back. Season 4 was good but not great, and the show's been on a slippery slope ever since. It's only OK now, and in another season or two, it will probably suck.

American Dad seems to be the place they use jokes that they don't think are good enough to be on Family Guy. It was never better than average, and a lot of its episodes aren't good at all.

While this ep wasn't funny except for Stewie being alone with Brian's son, it is 100 million times funny that the stale Simpsons.

That is not a fair comparison though. The Simpsons are on their 19th season. They had, what, 9 to 10 (depending on who you talk to) completely solid seasons. Family Guy is only in it's sixth season. The Simpsons were in their prime six seasons in.

What are you talking about? Season two or three? I can't take your opinion seriously anymore. The first three seasons (1999-2003) are the best seasons.

Season 4, which was their "return" season was great in my opinion. I would say the same about season 5.

Now...season 6...which is the CURRENT season hasn't been all that great. Yea, they had Blue Harvest and the Stewie Kills Lois saga but aside from that it has been okay-ish. Hopefully they make improvements for season 7.

Exactly. The Simpsons completely suck, and have for a LONG time now, but there's at least 10 great seasons of the Simpsons, while there's maybe 2 passable seasons of Family Guy. And I sincerely believe that if the Simpsons wasn't as bad as it was, FG never would have become as popular as it has.

Family Guy has three great seasons (1999-2003), an underrated season IMO (2005-2006), one decent season (2006-2007), and an okay-ish one (2007-2008).

But...to each his own.

Well, it is my opinion, but season one (for me) was the only tolerable season I could take. I noticed that each episode into season 2 and 3 had more and more flashbacks and cutscenes that weren't that funny and took away from that particular (previous) scene. Season 1 didn't do this as much. And some of their gags (although thankfully rare like that stupid giant chicken skit) were just pointless. Season 1 for me was Family Guy at their best. Season 2 to me was both a rise & decline, and season 3 was "heh...that's funny, I guess" FG right before tanking.

You do know season one was only 7 episodes. The one that aired, I believe, after the Super Bowl and six others that aired in April and May of 1999. So, you're saying that you only enjoyed seven episodes of Family Guy? If not, then you're counting season two that was a full season made up of 21 episodes.

I enjoyed seasons 1-3, though season 2 at a slightly higher extent depending on the episode, and season 3 at a lower extent.

See you misunderstand me. I said Seasons 2 and 3 were wearing thin, I never said they were bad, but they were losing their...funny. I like seasons 1, 2 & 3. Season 2 had both its ups and downs (ie: inconsistany), it probably was the high point of FG, and by season 3, the show was losing its relevance altogether.

Now we have current FG...and I've stopped watching Fox Sundays sans American Dad.

I thought the star wars special was lame . Sometimes the show has me in stitches but other times it just falls flat.

Family Guy is slipping a lil...But I still think its freakin hilarious...I enjoyed this past episode :ninja:

The two episodes that featured James Woods sucked. He was much better in his Simpsons Cameo role when he took over for Apu in the Kwick-E mart after Apu was fired.

I don't watch shows like family guys and the simpsons, I treat each episode as it's own and don't hold continuity to these shows. So when I watch them they aren't THAT bad. I think American DAd now is a little funnier than Family guy though

I've gotta say I thin most seasons of Family Guy are pretty good, but like all shows there will be dips and bumps in there humour, I think the main reason, it hasn't being up to scratch this year is Fox ****ing around with the writing team, because let's face it if the writers aren't happy the show won't be as good, so essentially the network needs to get their act together and not threaten to replace the writing team.:o

The writers are getting lazy.

Want to hear lazy? I just read that Lisa becomes Krusty's assistant and then gets her own show on MTV.

Even lazier than when The Simpsons got a horse for the second time. Time to call it quits when you just switch story ideas between Bart and Lisa.

Admittedly the show is not as strong as it once was, but tonight was gold. Michael J. Fox, "what Joe calls sex" and Stewie's blind date all had me rolling on the floor.

One of my favorite parts was when Chris made Brian throw up by showing him Meg's overflow :hehe: .

Sweet! Your talking about the one where peter becomes a pirate right?
