And you "know" this from where? Please enlighten me.

In West Coast Avengers #60, Magneto and Iron Man fight, well it really wasn't much of a fight, but more of a one-sided beating, Iron Man reversed the polarity on his armor, and then ended up beating the crap outta Magneto.

So yeah Iron Man has beaten Magneto and his magnetism would have no effect on the armor.

Thanks Iron Stark, I couldn't for the life of me remember that issue number of West Coast Avengers, thanks :im:

I don't follow his books as I use too but do recall him mention in one book he fixed his suit to keep Magneto from using it against him

West Coast Avengers #56 through #60, iirc...

Also; Doom completely dominated Magneto in Super-Villain Team-Up #14...

thats kinda stupid, as long as metal is in the area Magneto should own. probably just Marvel not wanting to make Doom look bad though

But Doom's much smarter than Magneto, and Magneto has no defense against magic.

i dont think Doom is that much smarter, and still as long as metal is in the area Magneto should be able to kill Doom before he can blink. Now if we take away any common sense from Magneto then yah he'd lose

Can Magneto feel when metal is present? or does he have to be near it? to "feel it"

The only thing Magneto could do is utilize other forms of metal and magnetism to attack Stark, since he does have the ability to polarize his armor so magnetic fields have no effect.

Iron Man is no match for Magneto.
Quit trying to make up excuses for Iron man. He just can hang with the lord
of magnatism.

LOL, what excuses? They've met before, and Magneto couldn't beat him. Stark isn't an idiot, he knows how to counteract ****.

Well,Stark is smarter than Magneto,so even though he may not be wearing the right suit to fight him,I think he would manage to defeat him no matter how you slice it or dice it.

Iron-man would be the can and Magneto the can opener. It wouldn't go so well.

Has Magneto and Doom ever came to blows?

Doom > Magneto

I have that Comic My Dad Gave it to me. When i First saw they were gonna Go at it I just knew that IronMan would get his Ass handed to Him but I was Surprised. I have to find the issue exactly but i know ironman takes steps against being surprised By Any Mutant or super human who can control or manipulate metal.

Yeah it's a pretty standard precaution for Stark, if you think about it.

Iron Man and Magneto fought each other in the issues of the West Coast Avengers back in the 80's, Iron Man won by reversing the polarity of his armor which deflected Magneto's powers, Iron Man then knocked Mag's into a chimney stack.
I don't remember which issue of West Coast Avengers that was, I'll need to check.

Glad someone said it. :hehe:

Man I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I'm a huge WCA fan. Even that issue hadn't existed, the issue of magnetism is something that Tony, being as smart as he is, would recognize as a major flaw and overcome (although it took him awhile to realize that invisibility was causing him to get sick, but that's another issue). While writers like to give characters weaknesses, this one's too basic not to have been covered.

As for who's smarter, Doom or Magneto, Professor X has referred to Mags as one of the top minds in the past - so don't count him out. For Doom to have had omnipotence and lost it (multiple times?) I wouldn't say he's that smart. ;)

I think they have both been in the same universe for quite some time now. i would hope that tony could of come up with something and from what i just read it looks like he did.
I think if iron man went into battle with magneto without preparation then he would be destroyed.

Iron Man 2099. Tony is literally a part of his armor which is now bigger than a sentinel. He catches up with magneto and kills him by crushing him in his giant hands.

What would happen if Iron Man met Magneto?

First, I think, 20th Century Fox would sue Paramount.

Dr Doom and Magneto had a fallout in Secret Wars, too, although they never actually fought, if I remember correctly.

And "reversed the polarity of his armor"?:whatever: Does this even mean anything? What polarity is that, electric or magnetic? And why couldn't Magneto just reverse it back? With arcane stuff like this, even Doom is no match for the mighty Tony Stark.:cwink:

While not in continuity, Iron Man and Magneto fought in 'What If..? Iron Man had sold out'. An interesting story in which, as the title suggests, Tony Stark sells off his Iron Man designs to governments and other world agencies so everyone has access to the tech. Magneto ends up being the worlds greatest threat since all their armor based weaponry is no match for him, that is until Tony appears in 'Overlord', a large building sized juggernaut-like armor (not vulnerable to Magnetos powers) and slaps Maggy around like a doll. it would be the shortest fight ever.

God, I'm old. Jim Shooter drew one of those Villain Team-up issues. Issue 14 came out about the time I started buying comics regularly. Issue 17 had a really good Red Skull story. I think Peter Gillis was the writer. Excellent dialog; it made the Red Skull more than a screaming lunatic.
