First Kevin Smith then Bill Lawrence and NOW THIS:

Joshua Jackson Lands Fletch Role?

Former Dawson's Creek actor Joshua Jackson has reportedly beaten some of Hollywood's biggest names to land the title role in Fletch Won. Jackson will play investigative reporter Irwin 'Fletch' Fletcher, a part made famous by Chevy Chase in the 1985 comedy Fletch and its 1989 follow-up Fletch Lives, according to website Iesb.net. Among the actors previously linked to the role were Brad Pitt, Jason Lee, Ryan Reynolds and Zach Braff. Director Steve Pink has also signed up for the project, which was originally to be directed by Kevin Smith.

The ball has been dropped.

Man, they are ******ed. They went with him instead of Jason Lee?

I was so excited about this when Jason Lee, then later Zach Braff, was connected to the role. Oh well, we'll see how it looks.

whats wrong with Jackson?... the guy is a good actor and he's funny.

Are you seriously suggesting that he's better than Jason Lee?

Oh, well.

Jason Lee obviously went on to bigger things.

Like My Name is Earl, and Underdog.:o

I loved the cartoon, but the movie looks severely disappointing. All live action films based on cartoons usually turn out horrible.

...what about Transformers?

It's got Micheal Bay, and everyth...oh.

:csad:

I know this is superherohype so just by it's very nature it caters to a bunch of geeks but looking past the geekdom... Joshua Jackson has come a long way since Mighty Ducks and Creek, I saw him in "Bobby" (2006) and he did a really good job, he's got some acting chops however he's a bit wooden, he needs a little more charisma. While Jason Lee has great stage presence, that's all he has, and for supporting and specific roles he's great, however he's not very versatile(I haven't seen much of My Name is Earl which I hear is good), so I think Jason Lee would be good as Fletch, but it'd really just be Jason Lee not Fletch... So I don't think it's bad casting, I don't know anything about the director though...

[Dr. Cox]No. No. No. No. New. NEEWWW.[/Dr. Cox]

Jason Lee would have been great, even before he got involved with My name is Earl

I really loved the fletch movies, and I really didn't want to see a remake. Chevy Chase WAS Fletch. It's the best role he ever had (not saying much, but still)

Jason Lee sounded like a good choice though it has to be said. Make him Fletchs' son and give Chase a cameo. Chase deserves a Murray-esque revival.

Gah..

Kevin Smith + Jason Lee = Gold.
Bill Lawrence + Zach Braff = Gold.
Steve Pink + Joshua Jackson = . . . This movie has fallen pretty damn far.

Yeah, but Fletch is all charisma, something which Lee has in adundance. Lee can do more with a single look than Jackson (from what I've seen) could do with an entire script. Given the right material, I'm sure Jackson would be fine, but a wise cracking private detective/reporter, he is not.

Which would still be better than Jackson as Fletch.

All I know is that they better keep the Harold Faltermeyer theme, because that thing rules.
